Cucumbers on your eyes, oatmeal in your bath … What old-fashioned beauty rituals do you still follow?

What a wonderful question for the day!

Used to use Vaseline but I stopped using petroleum products on my skin, their not good for you. Yes I know grandmom used it for years but now we know better.

To get rid of the build up on your hair I add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to your shampoo, mix and then use. It doesn’t suds much but gets your hair squeeky clean.

I also buy inexpensive hair conditioner, suave works very well and has smells nice. I use a handful and rub all over my body and rinse off, my skin feels moisturized and not greasy.

I love Dove soap and have used Dr. Bronners liquid soap for years. It’s a hemp-castile soap and very pure. You can use it for shampoo, tooth paste, body wash. Peppermint, Lavender & Eucalyptus are my fav’s. Most health food stores carry it plus it’s easily ordered from Amazon.

I love Noah’s line of naturals face wash, moisturing cream also from walmart. Plus Hope in a jar for sensitive skin I love, from Sephora.

I use a loofah cloth to scrub, just replace it monthy when it gets nasty, their very inexpensive at walmart. Plus I love to use a sugar scrub on my face weekly. Any brand it doesn’t need to be expensive!!

In stead of coloring my hair, I use John Frieda hair color glaze, brown up to 3 times a week when I wash my hair. It covers the gray wonderfully, but you have to be careful about getting it on your scalp, it stains. I just smear it on and cover my hair with a plastic cap while I scrub, buff and shave, then rinse. Used to do the mayo condition, but just havn’t in years.

The coffee rinse sounds intersting, I’m thinking about trying that one.

Have you switched to drugstore cosmetics because of these economic times?

I have been hooked on Bare Minerals from Sephora for years. I do use some eye shadow and lipstick from drug stores. But Bare Minerals are wonderful and Sephora usually has the best price! QVC also carries some great names but Sephora is all make up and the best selection.

If someone gave you $40,000 to buy an automobile, would you buy one made in America?

My husban and I both have Toyota now and love them. We have both had Subaru’s, Pontiacs, and Fords and were not happy with them. Why would I invest in a car company who for the last 20years have ignored what people want so bad that they are almost out of business? I’m not blaiming the just workers but the CEO’s and everyone there who have kept doing what was not working for a long time. Our son has a used Audi and loves it! I have to admit it’s very nice to drive. BTW I hear Toyota is cutting jobs to to keep up with the cars not selling gosh it didn’t take them as long did it.

When the Wronged Wife Tried To Get Even

Wonderful advise to both women. I just wanted to add to HEARTBROKEN DAUGHTER been there and had a lot of guilt about my mom and how I haven’t spoken to her in forever. I finally read some where can’t remember where honor thy mother unless she’s unhonorable. I figure I can only control my actions, not hers and she has a right to live her life her way. But she has always forgotten my same right. Some people are just so toxic it’s better they aren’t in your life.

The Ultimate, Revised Joy of Sex and the Man Who Put Women on Top

Funny but I never saw that book at my home. Instead the Happy Hooker was innocently left laying around the house. I remember my parents reading it, taking turns. When I did pick it up there were no pictures but wow did it shock me. LOL

A Beauty Editor's Secrets for Spending Less and Looking 10 Years Younger, by Shirley Lord

About 2 years ago I was unhappy with my make up it looked to much and not at all natural to me any more. A friend told me to try Bare minerals and I did. The starter make up kit shocked me but low and behold my 60 dollar kit lasted for well over a year. I did go on to add blusher and eye shadow with liner to my make up routine and love the Bare Minerals make up, it looks and feels like I have nothing on. I love it. Have never gotten into their lip stick and mascara but the loose powder make up, shadow and liners rock! If your interested in finding them check out the Sephora.com or go to a local store. Terry E

'60 Minutes': Rex Lewis-Clack Is a Piano Prodigy … and Severely Mentally Disabled

Thanks for the heads up I definitely will watch. He is amazing! Just goes to show you every one can do something special!

Did you use a condom the first time you had sex?

I was 16 to his 18 and didn’t want to but he convinced me that if I loved him I would. So yeah he used a condom. Right after we finished and got dressed he had the nerve to ask if I was really a virgin cause he didn’t think so. No we didn’t marry, as soon as he went to college and returned I broke up with him.

Whoopi Goldberg: We Have Finally Become Part of the Fabric of the United States of America

Joan I had to reply to your wonderful post! As a white woman bough up in a home where my parents told me everyone is the same inside. I was shocked when I dated a black man and my parents had a fit. Mom’s reply well yeah their the same as us but you don’t marry them. There are good and bad people in every sex, color and sexual preference. I was so very happy to find out Obama did win, because if means we have moved some what away from that learned response. We are entering a wonderful time where everyone needs to work together to overcome a lot of problems, but Obama put it right. Yes We Can! God Bless America

Obama Can Thank Women For Big Part of His Win

I was voting for Obama long before Palin was the pick of the litter. So she didn’t effect my vote, except to cement my decision. I figured out early that Obama and what he stood for fit my list to a T. I won’t list what was important to me, but a lot of Americans must have felt the same as me, he won last night.

Sarah Palin: 'I'm Sorry If I Cost John McCain Even One Vote, But Don't Give Me That Much Credit'

Susan ITA she did give it her all, but it wasn’t an all that most democrats felt comfortable with. I for one am glad that today I won’t have to see more of Palin. Do I think she will be back in front of the public eye, I don’t think she can resist. I think she enjoyed it way to much to give up and go home. She’ll be back. (Rolls eyes)

Hillary Clinton on the Presidential Election Outcome

JMO but some of the reason Hillary didn’t get the vote is because of Bill, so he should let go and move on. Plus maybe voters didn’t want another Clinton regime.

Obama's Speech: "If Anyone Still Doubts America Is A Place Where All Things Are Possible..." (Video)

Wow missed this last night, but I believe he can do any thing! Every once in a while a great man comes along and moves mountains and great things happen. GOD BLESS AMERICA Its time for change, and we all voted to make big changes. I have tears in my eyes just hearing this speech!

Barack Hussein Obama Wins Historic Election; Will Become 44th President of The United States of America

Wow is all I can say, I have been a firm Democratic voter since the first time I voted. I was insistent that Obama would win even before he got the nod. It was easy to put my trust in him, he came across as exactly what the country needed. I stayed up to see McCain’s speech then had to go to bed. OTOH if McCain had run his campaign like he gave his speech last night things could have been very different (underline could). His speech was very gracious, and hopefully goes a long way to end the hate and division that his campaigning bough out and reveled in. I really didn’t think either Republican, were living in the here and now for heath care and women in general. Plus and this is a big plus for me I don’t have to see or hear Palin any more!! Just saying.

Women Weigh in on What They Will Be Doing on Election Night

I have lived and breathed the election, so tonight we’re watching a ppv movie! There is nothing I can do, we already voted, so no sense biting my nails. Whom ever it is, it is.
