wowOwow Reader Forum: Governor Palin Addresses RNC

I sure wish I could remember and link over to the stuff that guiliani has said in the past, where he somehow was ‘misundertood’ and assumed to be evil afterwards…..like…oh… the times he said ‘I DO’ and then didn;t.

wowOwow Reader Forum: Governor Palin Addresses RNC

McCain understands how to be on ‘offense’ to keep us from terrorism at home and abroad—-gheez….sounds like ‘1984’…..that includes the Americans who live in America! right!?

wowOwow Reader Forum: Governor Palin Addresses RNC

Actually—how does McCain then qualify? NONE of the candidates have EVER been President!

so guiliani says that this is ‘no time for on-the-job training’…honest —-he said that! So how does Palin fit into THAT scenario?

Judy Bachrach: When McCain Offered Palin Second Place on the Ticket, She Had a Choice

Boy, that is a tough one to answer. Why say NO when she wants to say Yes? I am postive that both men and women, have had to face themselves and be brutally honest, about their motivations to do ANYthing, that might turn a corner in their lives. Especially if that corner is over there, across the hi-way. In my ‘ponderings’, however, I have to remember that this is not about a ‘woman as V.P. who has opportunity and the right to say yes or no—-so there!’ so much as it is ‘What sort of leader is best for this country’? As in all decisions worthy of hard thinking…..what one wants to do, is not always the best choice for the big picture. Just ask any 2 year old having a temper tantrum——when they want to! Character, ethics, not assuming it is all about her, or that it is a god-given meant to be gift that she is to change history—-those are what I will be looking for tonight, when I listen to her speech. I am looking for some serious sincerity—not for a cheerleader shouting out the desired insults. As a woman, who myself was once offered a position that I thought I could handle—-I felt darned good about it! Of COURSE I accepted it! I did not even know, what I did not know!! And then the ‘job’ part of it stood up and stared at me, face to face…not only did it knock me down a step or two, on my ladder, but I realized that I underestimated the cost of my decision—-to my family, to my employer, and to my employees that worked under my direction, and their employees. I wasn’t ‘ready’ and held the belief that I could learn what I did not know….which of course, allowed the whole world around me to view my undoing. As Jung and Einstein said: Experience is knowledge—-Everything else is information. So I agree that Palin COULD have said NO, and no one would have faulted her for it, nor held it against her for future opportunity. And instead of being ‘used’ to gain votes…she could have moved on to Congressperson, learned the ropes, planning and earning her way onto the ticket getting the experience that would leave little room for question—-PLUS, she would be doing so on HER terms—-.instead of the ‘disruptive’ last minute choice because a woman on the ticket was needed…..blah blah

What do you think of nuclear power as a viable energy source?

I am all for Nuclear….amends as I just now discovered this discussion. I recommend nuclear eneergy the way that Norway does it, over France. The French HAVE had their ‘spills’, and their leaks, but they have not had a Chernoble experience. Nor will Norway have those events.. Norway uses Thorium instead of Uranium. The use of Thorium is not a ‘new’ idea, and it confounds me, at times, that Uranium, with all its’ negative possibilities and perceptions, took the lead. With Uranium——weapons can be made of the leftovers. With Thorium—weapons can NOT be made of the leftovers. Uranium—-thousands of years to break down the waste. With Thorium, only hundreds of years, by comparison. With Uranium—-a Chernoble: with Thorium—not possible. There is more Thorium in the world than there is Uranium, and even AMERICA has a substantial Thorium supply, as does Norway, India, Russia, and a little bit in China, too!! So WHATS’ da Problem? ‘POLITICS’ !!!! Bush actually made sure there was money for 5 years, in the US Budget, allocated to a joint research project with Russia. So most of us have actually paid for that research, through our tax dollars….and guess who is benefitting from that—-not America!? BUT THE UAE!!!! Why? Because they are building the Nuclear Reactors, Thorium based, in their own part of the world, so that they can sell us their oil, instead of using their oil for themselves!!!!!!

Liz Smith: Democrats Beware of the Palin Backlash

Correct there: On the VERY day that it was announced she was the V.P. choice for McCain, Forbes came out with an Alert that stated TransCanada and the State of Alaska had signed that morning, a deal for a pipeline to be built. Now here is the kicker….TransCanada wanted seed money from Alaska, while Bp, Shell, and the others bidding for the rights, were willing to use their OWN money. Palin gave $500,000,000 to TransCanada for seed money, to build this pipeline from Prudhoe, thru Alaska, on to Chicago. One cannot say that she is NOT partial to oil companies…..check it out….google TransCanada Alaska pipleline.

Liz Smith: Democrats Beware of the Palin Backlash

DR. KLEINYOU SAID: Obama’s lying low to avoid scrutiny of his sexual skeletens. A virile good looking powerful young with long absences from his wife and surrounded by alluring, adoring women isn’t tasting the honey? UNQUOTE Is your statement akin to the statement that has been around for years and years: “When you point a finger at someone, you are pointing the rest of your fingers at yourself?” Or is it…ummmm..”.what you see is a reflection of yourself? ” Or, are you just trying to stir up some dirt hoping to create controversial discussion? Or, is that just the way your sense of humor is hard-wired?

Liz Smith: Too Much Gustav, Not Enough Politics ... Is Sarah Palin an 'SNL' Skit Gone Wrong?

Exactly! the question each person MUST ask themselves, every single moment, is ‘What are we teaching our children?” To ignore, to lie? to court double standards? that fame allows privilege outside the morays of common sense and community?

Liz Smith: Too Much Gustav, Not Enough Politics ... Is Sarah Palin an 'SNL' Skit Gone Wrong?

I too, am addicted to the Charlie Rose Show, and still remember the night he interviewed Obama for the ‘first time at this table’. I maintain that is was Charlie who first, in public, encouraged Obama to run for office…and I still remember the puzzled look on Obama’s face, when he realized Charlie was indeed very serious. I began my research on Obama, back then, before he made his decision, and continue to do so. And just a few days ago, began my research on Palin, with understanding that as long as she hasn;t done much, I will have time. I do not find it abnormal that people are micro-managing their research on Palin—-heck even I am guilty of that! What I do find abnormal, is that so much effort has been made to ‘create the soundbite’, for all parrots to learn, whether there is truth , or no truth. Of course, this has much to do with the lack of time, for the public to ‘vett’ Palin, before the convention….STILL, I feel as though there is a massive propaganda effort at large, to convince the masses that elephants can fly!!! Parrots bore me when all they have to say is what they are taught to say—-no thinking allowed. Something that REALLY caught my attention was a David Gregory interview, last night, on MSNBC, with Rick Davis, McCains’ campaign chair. I wish the clip could be re-shown over and over and over…so that EVERYbody could see, that perhaps, there is a lack of confidence in Palin, by the RNC itself! And I dare say, there is great fear. Gregory asked Davis a question about Palin, and Davis, when answering the question referred to Palin as ‘FAILIN’, and then corrected himself…..my thinking? Insiders were asked to move fast with no preparation time allowed, and human nature as it is, were darned mad about it!

Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

So! When ARE you moving out-of-country to avoid paying taxes, so that you too, can make a profit? hmmmm? I so hope that you do a little bit of research on ALL the candidates….why? You might find there is overwhelming information out there that will negate your bias….corruption is not limited to one person…..as you try to impart to us with your words…..even speaking vicious lies and evil attacks on a message board ,is defined in Rogets’ Thesaurus, as corruption. So, I ask, does that mean that you too, are ‘corrupt’?

Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

oh Ms. Tracey…..did you just ‘grad-ee-ate from college? There is an economist who has published several books. His name is Jared Bernstein. I had opportunity to attend one of his lectures in July. Guess what he told us? For the FIRST TIME EVER, the platform that the Republicans hold to, IN THEORY, ie the trickle down theory that suggest if corprations are untaxed, they will be able to create jobs. The Bush administration was the first administration to seriously attempt executing that theory. And guess what he THEN said? Thank Goodness Bush did that!!!! He proved it did NOT work!!!! Finally! Some PROOF!!!!! The truth is that even those corporations that have taxable income, end up not paying taxes, anyhow—-they got their “friends” to give them ‘tax credits; instead. Meanwhile, most of us Americans who DO pay taxes, STILL cannot afford to move to China!!!!! Even though our jobs are there! I think it was Einstein who said this—-or maybe Carl Jung: Experience is knowledge. Everything else is ‘information’. Now those two guys were smart people!!!! They knew that theory is merely a bunch of words put together with a hope that it is true. IGNORANCE is not knowing what you don’t even know——-and assuming you DO know something……just because you read a book…or did someone tell you what to think? or NOT think?

’ a messianic affair’ doing ‘what’s right’ means life is NOT sacred? That God APPROVES killing people? Even unborn babies? Oh forgot….
