She does deserve credit for the beginning of her career, but to end in such a way doing "The View" deminishes her legacy.  She has really become a joke to a lot of people who admired her.  It is to the point of being pathetically begging for ratings, at any cost!!

I certainly agree with you!! Since Walters continues in that mess"The View" it has changed my mind about anything she accomplished as a journalist.  She seems more worried about ratings than her legacy.  It is sad to see a woman grasp so hard for the spotlight!!!

Andrea- I agree with you that it has become frightening to even think of her close to the White House. At first, I disagreed with her a bout womans issues, but it has progressed so far beyond that. I read this morning that her staff keeps the news from her because it “might depress her.” I don’t know how the republicans & John McCain could consider doing this to America. They talk about Barack being far left, this woman is so far right fringe, that is is terrifying!! Don’t even get me started about dragging those kids everywhere & anywhere she thinks it will help her!! I just hope everyone votes the issues this year, and doesn’t let fear raise it’s ugly head like it did with George Bush tactics

Barbara- I see the perfect place for Palin as co-host with Hasellbeck on Fox News. They are both radical, ill informed and hateful. They could also fit in quite nicely with Sean Hannity, since I heard Hasellbeck say she calls Sean to get her talking points for The View!!

Christina- Great post!! If only these simple words & comparisons could be seen on many more sites & papers, maybe people could understand this election and campaigns much better. In so many of our daily lives, things are broken down in these terms, so why not comparisons of candidates!!

I lost my Mom a year ago, I didn’t fully realize what an amazing woman she was until I didn’t have her. She was a woman with her feet flat on the ground, and knew what was important in life. She really knew that life was not about “things” it was family, and just spending time together, a meal together. Now that she is gone, I find that I am truly embracing the life she always wanted for her kids, now that she is not here, I hope I can carry on with our family what she really thought the meaning of life was.

Barbara, While I respect your comments, I don’t think we saw the real Sarah Palin. She did not answer the questions asked of her, and mostly would answer with some point she wanted to get across again. While I’m sure Joe Biden did rehearse, you can just tell he knows his facts, and could wing it on most any subject. From what she said, I don’t think we will get to see her unscripted anytime soon. She did herself well last night, and stopped the bleeding from her base, but I don’t think she changed any minds. I agree they both had some facts wrong. I felt like she was really flip, when Joe Biden was talking about the loss of his wife & worry about his 2 boys. That was a time when she could have shown some compassion and realness, but she didn’t.

As a woman, I’m glad that Sarah Palin didn’t make a complete fool of herself last night, as she has in the past week. That said, in no way did it change my mind about her or McCain!!! The folksey stuff, might have worked some years back, but this is too important of an election, to even consider her. I think she did women a disservice with all the winking, and demeaning smack downs to Joe. I thought he treated her with dignity & respect—she was on a mission and could not afford him the same!! She talked about & said exactly what was rehearsed with her, and nothing more. Even throwing it in the our faces, that she doesn’t intend too. According to the polling, most people have a lot of the same impressions that I got from her, a smooth ambitious politician, that is not right for this election!!

Brenda- Totally agree with your comments!! I wonder why McCain never appears without Cindy or Palin? It looks so stupid sometimes, Cindy follows him around on stage like a shadow. Is it that he is not comfortable in his own skin or she wants to be in the spot light all the time. The thought of seeing these 2 for the next 4 years is so depressing. I had been one of the people disgusted with The View & Elizabeth, but Barbara has gotten some of my respect back for the questioning. I notice some of the other news outlets have been coming up with more substative questions, also. I just hope we are past the “pig & lipstick” ads and people will concentrate on the issues!!

As an independent woman, I can’t help feeling the same way that Margo Howard does. I was looking forward to hearing Sarah Palin’s interview, but was surely disappointed with what I heard. I do think she needs to answer more questions before the election, and I certainly hope women will judge her on more than just being a woman.

Barb H- I think you have made a wrong assumption about “main stream women” &” left wing wackos”!! I consider my self a main stream woman, who voted for George Bush twice. I am not a left wing wacko, but an independent woman who wants to make a a good decsion at this time in countries history. I would venture to say there are a lot of women out there exactly like me who see Sarah Palin like I do. I just don’t believe she is prepared enough right now to be vice president. Maybe she will show more in other interviews, but the republicans seem to want to keep her from any venue other than spouting out insults or talking points.

As I watched Sarah Palin last night, I was not reassured! I know it was her first interview, I think Charlie Gibson did a good job,by the way, I really just feel like McCain camp is using this woman. From comments & buttons at their convention—Hottest governor—they are not concerned about sexism, it is a way to keep the conversation off the topics that we are concerned with and they have no answer for. As far as her answers about going after Russia, I think she is even more like Bush than he is. I still want to hear more conversation from her, but my impression of last night was not a good one!!

I agree that all these ads and attacks are becoming a distraction and people are getting sick of it really quick. I say we all go back to the issues, and listen carefully to the candidates, and see which one is going to help the country now and put us on the right track for the future. I watched Charlie Rose last night, and most people that are in a position to know, are really worried about the financial concerns now, and trying to stop the free fall. It seems to me that the republicans want a distraction, and are doing everything they can to provide it. I just hope the people don’t fall for it again, time to try something of a new path for all of us.

Lynn, I’m so glad to hear others voice the same opinion about Elizabeth. As I’ve gotten older, I find myself watching so many of the political shows, and really enjoy finding out information from all differing opinions. I thought maybe it was just me thinking Elizabeth was acting like a spoiled brat instead of knowledgeable women, who can make her points and listen to others without crying or shouting. She seems to me to be an example of one of the big problems in this country, we have to be able to come together on issues and problems if we have to survive. I think everyone is sick of the hateful speak and where does it get us?
