All award shows have the problem of going on too long, however - it is GREAT to see women of substance and talent recognized for years of great work. All these women deserved the nods they got.

Love all these choices! Strong women at the helm of planet earth would have us in a different world. These four women are outstanding examples of how to deal with fame and how to behave in public. More than class - they are all exceptionally gracious and genuinely giving.

Being gay I am not attracted to older lads. I will say that the same things apply to older women. There is something sexy about well earned lines in a face and grey in the hair. I love the wisdom that comes with age - give me a smart, sexy, older women any day!!

Go Babs! I hope it is a sold out event - Streisand is correct: Palin’s appointment was a tactical maneuver and an irresponsible one. Palin may be a strong, smart women but she is no more qualified to run the USA (should something happen to McCain) than I am. I assure you I AM NOT qualified to run a country either - the difference between Palin and I: I recognize this fact - she does not.

I don’t know if there is wrong doing on Palin’s part in this Alaska firing mess. I do know she should have to answer to the questions. Even now she continues on the campaign trail and refuses to take questions from the press or go off script. What is the big deal? Isn’t someone who’s running for office to represent the “People” accountable to the “People?” She is not being picked on - it is standard practice for candidates to SPEAK to the press when appointed as Vice President. Potential questions SHOULD be in regards to the campaign - and NOT personal attacks. However, it is well within boundaries to ask what went on in Trooper-Gate as this was a direct result of her position in government office.

I feel terrible for the parents of all these young men and women - especially the parents of Meredith Kercher. It is bad enough they lost a child. Now they will have to watch this play out in the media with speculation about sex games. What a nightmare! It is hard to know what is true. I hope the trial is swiftly dealt with for the sakes of the families.

Lauren Bacall is a class act. The sort of woman one can aspire to be - but will never duplicate! She has done far too many GREAT movies to list - but My all time favorite Bacall role was the one that introduced her to me in the late 70’s: It was her two episodes on “The Rockford Files.” Happy Birthday Ms. Bacall!!

Ms. Herbert, We seem to be going in circles here. Let me assure you my tone here is calm and respectful. Clearly there is an element missing when communication is in writing. You may or may not be interested in my take on your correspondence – read on if you care to. Feel free not to. American politicans have lead the entire world into battle and bloodshed. The Canadian economy is also suffering. Canadian soldiers are also coming home in boxes. One Canadian soldier leaves my friend a single mother of two. The 2008 race for the Whitehouse will impact the world – of which I am a tax-paying citizen. I will keep my opinions to myself when WOW advertises that they are interested in American comments only. Feel free to hold Canadian leaders accountable for their actions. When a conversation arises about the blunders of my government I will happily weigh in on their rampant ills… there is no shortage. As to where I’ve lived and my life experience – you don’t know me: Therefore you are taking a leap to offer advice. I have also experienced lots of life and assure you I don’t seek advice from confrontational strangers. (Yes – you are coming across as very confrontational. Perhaps this is not your intension – again – some things are lost in text.) Once again, MY FREIND said: I have the scars to prove it – McCain does not – in parody of what McCain said about Obama: This joke was my friends response to Sarah Palin using “Barracuda” as her calling card. It was meant as humour (Canadian Spelling). Sorry you didn’t get it. Not sorry I wrote it down. Many people suffer scars of all sorts – some on the battlefield some in domestic wars. Bottom line: McCain is a war hero – he is not Jesus. I respect what he did in his life – it does not qualify him for office. I do NOT respect the lies/ half truths he and Obama are using to further their campaigns. You say: “Any further discussion is a complete waste of my time.” Yet it was you who came after me. I’m not a Democrat – I’m not a Republican. I am a Canadian with NO voice in an election that will impact the entire world. I’m not sure Obama can deliver all he has promised, but I sure hope to find out. The thought that Sarah Palin would be President if something happened to McCain is frightening. As for the “View” appearance with John and Cindy McCain: There was nothing out of line about Barbra questioning McCain on his statement: “She’s the greatest Vice President in the United States,” regarding Palin. This is a bold statement – considering some of the Vice Presidents who have held office. McCain also refused to say whom EXACTLY Sarah Palin would reform: He said She was chosen to REFORM government. In his RNC speech McCain proclaimed that Palin sold the airplane at a profit – Barbra noted that she sold it at a loss. McCain didn’t respond to this, but made a joke. It was completely fair of Joy to say McCain has been in line with Bush – he has voted with Bush on 90% of the bills voted on. McCain said “lipstick on pigs” was about Palin – Obama said it was not about Palin but about change, yet when McCain made the same comment it was fine. He is not psychic – if Obama said the FULL statement was about change – McCain has no place to say, “Obama chooses his words carefully.” Which is pretty much calling Obama a liar. This is NO different than Joy saying McCain’s ads were lies – is it? Whoopi asked about separation of Church and State, and whether or not Palin’s views are not far removed from McCain’s. It is fair to ask – how can Palin represent those who don’t believe in God when here beliefs are so extreme. There are many spiritual beliefs out there – Palin staunchly believes in the Christian God. McCain danced around the “Roe v Wade” question. When he agreed to go on the “View” and danced around questions – he better expect to be further questioned. He said he wanted to appoint people who understand what “Our Forefathers wanted the constitution to mean.” Slavery was a part of the constitution – Whoopi was well in the boundaries with that question. If one human right can be overturned – they all can. When Hilary was running there were plenty of attacks on her INCOME from the Republican Party – why then can’t McCain be questioned about his assets? The fact that Cindy McCain has had substance abuse issues is irrelevant, as she is not running for office. She should have been prosecuted as anyone else – however – she is not the first wealthy person who had a good lawyer that got them off.

Tina Fey is brilliant! I hope she visits SNL weekly to play Palin. Especially when the debates get rolling. The show has not been the same since Fey left and stopped writing for it. Amy Poehler and Seth Myers are the only reason I continue to tune in. The skit was great! It was just like old times - when SNL was funny. I vote to bring back Tina Fey to Weekend Update! I don’t know how Palin felt about the skit - but it is a fact that Clinton enjoys Amy Poehler’s impersonation of her and has stated it on several occasions. Clinton also did a guest spot on SNL with Poehler. For all those who missed it - you should look it up: It’s super funny.
