Whoopi Goldberg: No One Thought Their Money Would Vanish Overnight

I am not surprised at all. Here is a Quote by Ayn Rand: “honesty – the refusal to fake reality” I say, as humans, we have never been promised tomorrow and we leave this human life with the same thing we came in with — nothing. Nothing is reality. If these greedy people want to leave life, let them.

Whoopi Goldberg: 'The Great Depression Was the Great Equalizer'

I heard the “Great Depression” many times growing up, mostly about money and banks. My grandmother made the most of her stocks tho, ( as she was an original owner of many bell stocks) and some fifty years later when she died and still held the original stock … well low an behold! Those things matured out the ceiling of a museum! She never touched them and even at age 93 she felt as if she still had to save for her retirement! My mother was the same way. When she had a dense paralyzing stroke I had to take her to a facility that could care for all her medical conditions plus her paralysis. Later I had to liquidate her home for that cost. When I moved her things, I noticed that in the pantry she had at least two of everything! Some things (like oatmeal of all things!?) she had more than three! It was unreal. I never looked into her pantry as an adult because I just never had a reason to. Also, I remember 1988 and my grandfather still being alive and sending me $5 towards the warm wool coat I wanted for the winter. Just going through the Great Depression made folks stop in their thoughts about whatever certain things were worth. Most never included inflation in their current assumptions about the general market.

We’re not promised tomorrow.

Fed to Give Banks More Cash

It is $85 billion, I mistakenly typed it as million.

Fed to Give Banks More Cash

AIG Execs take $500k Spa vacation less than a week after $85 million bail out, including $150 K spent just on food!! Read here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/10/07/AR200810 This is OUTRAGEOUS The feds are feeding a growing problem. No more money should be involved in a “bailout”

Whoopi Goldberg: Let People Have as Many Kids as They Please if They Can Afford It

I realize that my reality of whether or not I could “afford” 18 children (or one for that matter) could be way different and conflicting than an other woman’s. For instance, a single woman making 250k a year would think she can afford it, but then so does a woman who has 5 baby daddy’s and wants to make it 6 after all her rent is like $25, so yeah she can afford it too.

Vice Presidential Debate Reader Forum

A few notes from last night: Palin acted as if she was at a poetry slam — said the word “maverick” so many times it turned into a cliche’ in less than 45 minutes. I felt as if she was looking for something to rhyme with energy as well. I don’t like her view on education : third graders get an A for watching the debate. I think she watched “Fargo” too many times. YOU BETCHA. I was waiting on the “big” answer from her of “What does a VP do?” — she still doesn’t know Biden clearly won. He seemed sincere, serious and on task. I liked this: Cheney is the most dangerous man in the world.

Whoopi Goldberg Reaches Out to Readers

I saw the View and your lovely question leading to something electronic then I thought of Obama’s new ad I had seen earlier that shows … “CANT SEND EMAIL” (with a disco ball and all) and I —- F.O.C. in hysterical laughter, I saw where you were going, I really wanted you to continue but I understand about that man, it really just wasn’t worth it to humiliate him that way since he mentioned something about myspace lololol and all. I give him credit that now he wants to learn a little technology ( HA! ) I really did want want to see him tell the viewers how to send an email though !

McCain Camp: Obama Owes Palin Apology for Lipstick Joke

Bonita, I believe the figure for illegal immigrants is more like 14 MILLION and I understand that 2 MILLION of this 14 MILLION are illegal immigrants that have committed crimes. Since last year, citizenship fees rose from $400 to $675. This rise will most likely cause a decrease in applicants. I find the following [Obama] article to be an accurate conclusion: Immigrants are scapegoats for high unemployment rates Q: How do you address high unemployment & declining wages in the African-American community related to the flood of immigrant labor? A: Before the latest round of immigrants showed up, you had huge unemployment rates among African-American youth. So to suggest somehow that the problem that we’re seeing in inner-city unemployment, for example, is attributable to immigrants is a case of scapegoating that I do not believe in, I do not subscribe to. There is no doubt that we have to get control of our borders. We can’t have hundreds of thousands of people coming over to the US without us having any idea who they are. We have to crack down on those employers that are taking advantage of the situation, hiring folks who cannot complain about worker conditions, who aren’t getting the minimum wage sometimes, or aren’t getting overtime. There are a whole host of reasons why we have not been generating the kinds of jobs that we are generating. We should not use immigration as a tactic to divide. Bonita, I am unclear to any reform or what is being done concerning immigration on McCain’s behalf however I am aware of what Obama has been doing and the following comes from Obama’s website: “In approaching immigration reform, I believe that we must enact tough, practical reforms… . We need stronger enforcement on the border and at the workplace… . But for reform to work, we also must respond to what pulls people to America… . Where we can reunite families, we should. Where we can bring in more foreign-born workers with the skills our economy needs, we should… . The time to fix our broken immigration system is now. It is critical that as we embark on this enormous venture to update our immigration system, it is fully reflective of the powerful tradition of immigration in this country and fully reflective of our values and ideals.” [Obama Statement in U.S. Senate, 5/23/07] http://www.barackobama.com/issues/pdf/ImmigrationFactSheet.pdf

Whoopi Goldberg: Sarah Palin 'Is a Very Dangerous Woman'

How else can you say it? Keep the faith Whoopi! I love reading you. “When a black teenager gets pregnant she’s a welfare mother. When this teenager, when this nice white-lady-girl-teenager gets pregnant, it’s an Evangelical Christian choice”
