I would have enjoyed seeing the screen adaptation on the big screen here in the midwest. What gives with just showing a movie on the east and west coasts?

Do not feel like an ass. I don’t believe a remark like that was a back-handed compliment. People who say such things, are genuinely surprised. It couldn’t be that Whoopi is well-read, or well-travelled, or self-taught. It must be something different about her, because after all, she is black. I understand why Whoopi would be surprised by the “back-handed compliment.”

Who the hell are you? And, why do you spread right-wing propaganda? A fact—Colin Powell is not running for the POTUS, Obama is. As an AA, Colin Powell, when he aligned himself with George W. Bush, became diametrically opposed to what I believe in. The only reason he quit Bush’s administration is because he got sucker punched by Cheney and Rumsfeld. Powell was not in the inner circle, and when he found this out, it was way too late. He put his reputation on the line for the Dubya WH, and now he’s paying the price for it. What you need to do is check out all the small donations that Obama receives from people like me, and then you will know how he is able to afford what he can.

With the economy in the shape it is in, I’m not going to sit here and say that Obama had better deliver on “that healthcare of his!” I worked with a woman who had not smoked a day in her life, and she did not get her lung cancer from constantly being around others who did smoke. However, that woman is dead and gone from lung cancer. It happens. As far as flip flopping is concerned, if McPalin continue on the route they are on, you may be able to sell the pair at WalMart as footwear.

I’ve always been truly AFRAID of dead people, for as far back as I can remember. I was so afraid at times that I believe I had night terrors, and firmly believe I’m an insomniac because of my fear. You may think it is truly irrational on my part, but what I believe now may make you question my sanity. I saw a science program on PBS about parallel universes. One scientist says universes exist side-by-side, much like slices in a loaf a bread. Now, I believe what we see are flashes of those universes. There are times when the time is right (a perfect storm of events) for these universes to become visible to the naked eye. What I believe we see are people in these universes instead of ghosts. At 58 years old, I’m no longer afraid of dead people (ghosts).

My mother’s sister had 14 children. The family didn’t have very much, but they appeared to be a happy, close-knit brood. My aunt was a very loving and patient woman, and didn’t appear to favor one child over another. She cooked all of their meals, and when they were young, she made their clothes. However, my aunt’s body never had a chance to recover after giving birth to so many children. She had a stroke in her 60’s, and she never fully recovered. Some of her children were less than a year apart, and some of them were born at home. I don’t know whether that had anything to do with her health, but I do believe it contributed to her early deterioration. My aunt was my mother’s youngest sister and would have been the first one in the family to go to college. My mother always told us how intelligent and talented my aunt was, and she even played a violin.

Lucinda, I have been keeping up with what has been happening on a daily basis. I don’t rely on MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, or Fox News to be truthful. Fox is in your face with what they portray as the news, and the others are just lite-Fox because they refuse to do their job and rebut any lies (until recently) spewed by the Republican Party. I don’t want the traditional news to support Obama, I just want them to do their job, even if it means calling Obama on any untruth or wrongdoing. That is totally different from manufacturing crap to put out there in the universe with no regard for the consequences. “Foaming at the mouth?” Am I to take your analogy literally, and surmise that you are calling me a rabid dog?

I saw your list posted on HuffPo, already. It doesn’t make you list anymore substantive now that you’ve brought it over to this blog. When you cannot be rational, you people resort to name calling. That is the Republican way. If the traditional media won’t do their job, then someone has got to come forward before this country is totally destroyed by you people. The Republicans are little more than thugs who are terrorizing this country. But, maybe I’m speaking for Democrats; maybe, Republicans are fine with the “state of the union.”

What is rude about calling someone out on spreading vicious lies about his opponent? Had the traditional news media (MSM) done their job, we wouldn’t be in such turmoil today. There was nothing moronic about what Whoopi asked. If John McCain believes in strict Constitutionalist for the SCOTUS, then I’m worried about going back to slavery, too. Whoopi isn’t stupid for making the remark, you are for not listening to what was asked before making a judgement.

Barb H, In my 58 years on the planet, I’ve never been accused of walking “in lock step” with anyone; so, I can assure you I am not walking “in lock step with NOW.” Why? I’m not a member. Never have been, and never will be. You may not be walking “in lockstep with NOW,” but you are walking “in lock step” with the right by spewing their lies. Obama is not for late-term abortions. You are basing your judgement of him on right-wing propaganda. Yet, you come here accusing the women here of walking “in lock step with NOW.” I don’t believe in abortion, it’s just a personal issue for me. With that being said, I must tell you, I don’t have the right to tell another woman she must abide by my beliefs. What some other woman does, is between her and her God. You and the right don’t have the right to be intermediaries in that decision. You spread lies and use contentious language because your argument against Obama is not substantiated. You sound like a low-information voter. You don’t know the truth, and it suits you just fine if you never know the truth. You are in your comfort zone. This is a choice you have made, and there is nothing wrong with it I’m not the most educated person on the planet, but I learn something new everyday. My mind is open to new experiences. Your notions are preconcieved and without merit. I’m not interested in changing your mind because it is already locked up. During the last 20 months, I’ve gone from blog to blog trying to get a feel for what is out there in the blogosphere. I’ve been trying to educate myself, because I was not involved as I am now about politics. The most common thing I found on a lot of the blogs were trolls from the right. They never have an argument for their side, but they do have a lot of hate and vitriol for the left. It’s never about truth or the issues, it’s always about personal attacks on the candidate. I don’t watch traditional news anymore (ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, or CNN). They are billed as liberal news, but they are all a step away from being FOX News. From what I’ve read of your post, you are just a breath away from Fox News. Just because you are from Illinois does not make you an expert on Obama. You are basing your arguments on hearsay and innuendoes. You don’t know the truth, and you’re not trying to find out the truth. You are satisfied in passing along lies. What you shouldn’t wish on this country is 4 mores of George Bush, but you don’t really care about that. You are willing to vote against your own interest, because the woman on the ticket is “a mainstream woman” just like you.

Barb, I’ve been reading different blogs, and the phrase “main stream women” keeps popping up. Who are these “many Americans-especially main stream women.” She doesn’t appeal to me. Does that may me a “left wing wacko?” She may not be appealing “to many, many Americans-especially main stream women,” as you may think. However, only time will tell. Sarah Palin is no more experienced to be VPOTUS as Obama is to be POTUS. That is just a bit of propaganda that is being bandied about to feed the base. Our country is circling the proverbial toilet bowl, and we won’t to keep the people in office who flushed the toilet. I think the right needs to stop pretending that it is all about Obama’s inexperience, and man-up or woman-up to what it is really about. We’re adults. We can take it, because we are use to taking it.

Kitty, It troubles me greatly that Obama has to “woo back supporters.” Why was it necessary for Obama to be subjected to having his Veep shoved down his throat? Wasn’t it his right to choose? I don’t think “some hurtful things she said about him during the primaries” had anything to do with his choice. Unless, someone here knows the Senator personally, and is privvy to that information. This primary has taught me something. It’s all right to not vote for my party’s nominee when my candidate doesn’t win. I’ve always voted for the party, but in the future I won’t. In fact, I’ve suggested to many of my friends and family that we should leave the Democratic Party en masse. That way, we may get some respect as a loyal voting bloc in future elections.
