There would only be one reason to do it at this time, self interest in being a “star”. Talk about showing a candidate out of touch with the citizens… however, considering how she has handled herself during this campaign, she may need to change careers.

If Ms. Palin continues to do every dirty assignment that Senator McCain’s team gives her (so he can keep his hands “clean) she can kiss any future political career goodbye. She’s already done enough to debate her survival.

Her ego is again exceeding her intellect. We’ve now established that she can read… but elects not to do so past the headline and first paragraph of any article. Her coaches don’t seem to be able to anticipate her erratic behavior or they’ve tuned out because of Senator McCains similar problem. He won’t listen to anyone either. I’m now convinced that they want her out there are a loose cannon… saying whatever she wants… and whatever Senator McCain knows he can’t get away with… so they can write it off as her “inexperience”. Senator McCain is a coward and has apparently decided that he can take cover behind a woman. Yesterday she made some pointed remarks about the lack of support from women. Of course the possibility that it hadn’t been earned, wasn’t the issue. Fortunately she hasn’t gained back all of her prior support. It would appear that some of the “stars” have clouded over on her prior supporters.

A little of her “style” goes a long way and it isn’t hate. It’s disappointment and a full understanding that she doesn’t get it. Only the “she can embarass” us is accurate… except that she already has …and she is already making it more difficult for those that have better “tactics” to success. Words that pretend depth and style that is shallow… at best. I have no desire for this to be how we are represented to the world. This is how males have often felt comfortable with us however, the men have come a long way. Why are we losing ground yet again.

She was a Journalism major… does everyone agree that we really need to improve education in this country ? She did have a moment when she couldn’t remember the correct programmed phrase for “waving a white flag of defeat” but it finally came to her. Basically she retained the talking points pretty well for the short term. Senator McCain has been doing roundtables and other small meetings for the last week because he didn’t have the cheerleader to pull the crowd for him. She’s back now . There are times that I get flashbacks of old Shirley Temple movies with finger in the dimples, winks and the “golly gee” folksy dialogue. Is this what her supporters see ? She didn’t answer most of the questions… did she not have a scripted answer or did she not understand the question ? It’s time to get back to the economy and the never ending the war now.

My belief is that we wanted to be treated equally and fairly. Whatever your belief, it has always been dangerous to allow yourself to be used and that is my problem with Ms. Palin. As long as the belief is that woman can be manipulated, they will be, and will therefore lose ground.

They need to vote it down…in it’s entirety now… and only reconsider when it’s pork free. We’ll be back here in 3 months anyway since this won’t solve the problem so just get on with it and try to keep it focused.

The book info was on the web for months… didn’t someone do their homework ? Everyone is for someone… we can’t let Ms. Palin go all the way to an election and never talk to us. Ms. Ifill was always aware of the fact that anything she asks will be scrutinized later… unless Ms. Palin has an answer and then it will be the only thing we see in the spin. She will be professional and this is just another attempt for the Republicans to pre-explain problems and lessen the impact. Game on…

If it wasn’t Alaska… it wouldn’t come up on her radar. “Not my job” The perfect example of “we only have so much ram”. Global ??

The veterans will need to attack Senator McCain, and that happens with the ones that are not part of his posse. Senator McCain gets… alot… of breaks because of his POW record and is an elder statesman. His “epiphany” came during his confinement. I am a child of that time and lost friends that served… they loved their country and died. Senator Obama wasn’t in the military so he wouldn’t be seen as a “peer” by many veterans and not all of them have required help. Those that have needed our support have been let down. Senator Obama’s grandparents seem to have had a good influence on him. The unspoken problem and one of the double standards, even in this day and age, is that anger is more acceptable in this country when it comes from an older white man. As a member of the “independent white women voter” group I’m still looking forward to the time when that isn’t an issue.

While not enrirely sure why… vegetarian lifestyle is a classified “risk factor”. I suspect it’s the difficulty in obtaining the correct amount of protein in the diet. My son has been a vegetarian for 15 years and even I’m concerned. Many side effects aren’t identified quickly. Desire would be to eliminate meat but I’ll continue to evaluate.

Sorry… I disagree. With the right support and insights at home the girls’s are better prepared to compete with the boys in school and later in life. I’m not sure when competition got such a bad rap. It’s the best teacher.

Her believers will still support her if she does nothing except breathe. They will just say that she’s been under such unbelievable pressure that it’s totally understandable. If the worst happens…please don’t let the phone ring at 3:00am.

The Republicans wanted this to be forever known as a “Democratic Bailout” They would then be able to get more House seats back in the next election. I believe they made it seem like they could get 50% of their caucus hoping that more Democrates would vote for it and get a majority when the Republicans bailed (as planned) It didn’t work. This must be bipartisan.

Truly impressive. A bill that no one liked is being defeated and they got not only political cover but also political points because Senator McCain didn’t know better thatn to stay out of the spotlight. This whole issue will probably hold until Thursday. During that time the stock market will close each day ar record lows. When it’s finally approved, less money will be involved… wall street will learn to “make do”… and the republicans make their point. Old time politics.
