The wOw Conversation: The Predicament of Polanski? (Audio)

Thank you Liz, for calling it like it is, or was in this case. This is about the application of the law in a way that doesn’t discriminate or show preference. That anti-semitism is still prevalent, particularly in Switzerland potentially adds an interesting dimension to the story, but let’s not let his view derail the conversation or the pursuit of justice.

Have you ever had to consciously choose between starting a family and getting ahead in your career?

I never stopped working and had three children. Having said that, I felt constantly conflicted, such that today, I am not sure what I would advise the next generation of women who want to "have it all."

How do you feel in a swimsuit now? In the book of 'Bathing Suit Chronicles,' how does your chapter read?

My body is far from perfect, but I don’t care what people think. Yes to bathing suits.

Will the Bush/Cheney presidential ticket be the last all-white-men ticket?

I am waiting for the day when this question becomes irrelevant, reflecting a society that is race, gender and religion blind. When elections are about qualifications, ideas and integrity, we will populate our government with the best and the brightest, which is what we need.

Are you satisfied with Bernie Madoff's sentence of 150 years in prison?

It should have been life, plus some form of retribution like being forced to watch videos of the victims ranting at him. I am not sure what 150 years accomplishes, and I do not believe that "symbolism" should have a role in our penal code.

The Lesley Stahl Interview: Christiane Amanpour, at the Height of the Iranian Election Crisis

Kudos to Leslie on a great interview. Amanpour has guts and integrity.

Do you think Christian Lacroix filing for bankruptcy protection is a harbinger for other fashion houses?

The prices for haute couture were astronomical. Evening dresses for $5000. Blazers for $2000. Maybe a combination of good design, quality construction and reasonable pricing could help to revive the sector.

What Elizabeth Edwards's Hairstylist Knows About John

I think that this article reveals the ambitious Elizabeth, not the suffering noble, Elizabeth, which is fine. She was clearly complicit in painting a misleading image of her husband during his second presidential campaign which only confirms my view of her as power hungry. This is ok though. I don’t condemn her for seeking power, or for staying with her husband. For the life of me however, I can’t figure out why she wrote the book. Where was her concern for her children?

At Chic Upper East Side Schools, The Rich Are Still Really Different From You and Me, by Emily Listfield

I think Ms. Listfield resorts to unfair generalizations. For example, my children have attended NYC private schools their entire lives and travel the subways as do many other such students. With some exception, the parents are acutely aware of the economic environment and many are dealing with their own financial challenges. This writer comes across as a sanctimonious reverse snob.

Country Mouse or City Mouse? Tell us where you live

I live in NYC. I love the convenience and the culture, not to mention the energy that comes from a tightly packed, highly diverse population. On the other hand, the cost and the grit can be disheartening.

Have you benefited from this recession in any way?

It sounds cliche, but these challenging times have forced us to not think about what we want, but about what we need.
