Are you sending out Christmas cards this year?

I just didn’t feel like it this year, so I didn’t. Funny thing, last year this time, we sold our home, bought a new one, packed and moved in 3 weeks (from a home we’d lived in for 21 years)- and yes, I sent cards then ……

A Warning for Internet Explorer Users

Also a Macuser, I haven’t used IE in years. I’m using Minefield, a different Firefox version, and boy is it speedy-quick.

It may be a good thing after all that you didn’t ask to have him fired. Who knows what his reaction to that might have been? I

Thanks for the laugh! Hilarious. I think there is a better way, a particular kind of ultrasound, but cost prohibitive. If it were a mans balls, ultrasound would be the only way they’d do it. I know it.

Made in America: Why We Need to Keep the Big 3 Afloat, by Jennifer Openshaw

If the big 3 go under, it’ll be real ugly here in Michigan. My husband has been in the car biz his whole adult life, he’s got his own views on why and how this happened and how it should be remedied. My very simple way of looking at it is this: the failing of any state’s major industry/economy is disastrous.

I live in Michigan and I drive a jeep cherokee, for the simple reason that 6 months out of the year I need my 4wd. When I can afford a nice new hybrid 4wd, I’ ll buy one. As far as smiling at the pumps, right now-it’s more like shock!

Fortunately the emotional/mental side of it has been easier for me. I’ve had a pretty rough go as far as physical symptoms are concerned, but if I didn’t have these wonderful young girls to make me laugh at the end of the day, it would be unbearable! Kids help keep you young. I’d be ancient by now if it weren’t for them!

They say we need 7 - 8 hours of sleep each night, but who has time for that? How many hours of sleep do you get each night?

My Mother was prescribed an anti-seizure med for epileptics since she has had all sorts of problems sleeping, from pain, other meds, and whatever else, but this stuff was awful. It turned her into a vegetable. She liked it because it helped her lose weight, cripes! After a few weeks of it, we finally convinced her to stop taking it. Even she eventually knew it was the smart thing to do, because she couldn’t remember much of anything from day to day of taking it. I wish I could remember the name.

A Holiday How-to: Video Chatting!

My daughter lives in Seattle, I in Michigan. We Skype every other day or so. She had her first baby this past July, so I sent her a webcam the month before. No way am I missing that baby growing up! They have since gotten a laptop, so she puts the puter on the floor and I get to be eye level with the little guy, watch him roll around, he looks back at me/ the computer and smiles constantly while he plays! It is the best ever!

Tomorrow morn at 8:30, yippeee. 2 years ago I had to have a re-evaluation for a couple spots they couldn’t see through. I was terrified, called and made the appointment. I didn’t even tell my hub, his Mother had so many different cancers before she finally passed away 20 years ago. I didn’t want to worry him. I did eventully tell him finally a couple days before and he went with me for the follow up, everything was fine. The xray tech says if we squeeze hard enuff to be able to see thru it and know it’s nothing, then you won’t have to have the ultrasound/biopsy. I said squeeze away!

I have to agree with you Barbara. The more I read on, the more it didn’t sound like me. The hormonal ups and downs continue to be with me, even though to function I take a low dose hrt. (please no one tell me how horrible they are and to get off them, I know, I know) But that’s all that was familiar. I, too, enjoy losing the 3 day headache I had every month, it’s like I never had them. As far as being overly interested with my girls’ school/social life- I consider that being an interested and involved Mom. I’ve thought more than a few times, if I’d known how much fun it was having older/adult kids, how great having more freedom was - I might not have had kids at all….(not seriously)

So, basically I operate on about 6 hours per night. It seems sufficient most days.

Sandbee, if I get more than 7-8 hours of totally uninterrupted sleep, I wake up with a raging headache. You are the only other person i’ve ever heard who has the same tproblem. Before kids I used to stay up til 12:00 easily every night, but since i’ve had them, i don’t believe I’ve gotten more than a handful of uninterrupted nights sleep, and i’m talking 25 years. So, I’ve come to the conclusion, I don’t need the sleep I used to get. But I do try for that long sleep every now and again.

I have 5 daughters, aged 12- 25 and I am 52. With my youngest girl, I went from the end of nursing to peri-menopause within a few months! Talk abut a rude awakening. I’ll have to take a longer look at this article tomorrow when my brain and eyes are not so tired! It does sound verrrry familiar, though.
