wOw Scenes: The Views From Our Windows

Wow, what beautiful photos. They make me a bit jealous. In MI, I fear we are in for one hell of a winter, but come spring, summer, and fall ….I wouldn’t be anywhere else! I guess we have to take the bad to get the good. Sometimes I would prefer to always just have the good.

Thanks for the invite, I’ve got your email. My crazy concert goin’ days were pretty much over by 1987, as I had 2 kids by then! But they sure were some fun times. If I remember correctly, for the Rod Stewart concert-circa 1976- I was on crutches ( sprained knee) and it was in the middle of winter, but it was worth every slippery step I took.

I have the same feelings about this, and sometimes I feel like maybe I am sounding cold-hearted about it. You alone can’t choose what the economy does, but you CAN choose your own attitude about it and the rest of life.. I hate to even look at the paper or turn on the TV anymore, it instantly puts one in a bad mood.

I’m a Sparty, through and through. Wings stadium was just barely opened way back then and we thought nothing of piling in a car and driving from Lansing to Kzoo for a concert, which back then probably cost all of $20. I am smack dab in between M6 and 131. I’m off and on at this site, but when I first came here- I remember reading some posts by another gent from GR. It is a small world indeed!

Caledonia, actually. Which really is just barely south of GR. Speaking of Kzoo, I haven’tt been there in years. But I did go to the occasional concert there during my years at MSU. Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart , (a couple others I can’t recall at this early hour)- good times!

I’m just a few miles south of GR, and this snow is crazy. Why do I think every year that maybe it won’t come back? Delusional, I guess. Witnessed 2 accidents in the last 24 hours, people forget slow and steady gets you there in one piece.

As a fellow Michiganian, I agree things are depressingly bleak here. i know a couple friends who have recently lost their jobs. I’m talking middle-aged people with no other prospects in sight. I honestly don’t know what they’ll do, other than unemployment, for now.

What would you do if your Internet went down for a week?

I use the internet for pleasure mainly, email, googling, shopping, research etc, plus bill paying, so it would be merely a nuisance to me. But, the rest of my daily schedule would be the same. I don’t spend so much time online that if I used that time otherwise, it would not amount to more than a bit of vacuuming, loading the dishwasher, or doing a load of laundry. However, if you told me I’d never get the internet back, that would be a totally different story….. it would get ugly around here.

What is your biggest lie?

I’ve told lies in my past, but not much as I grew older. Once I realized it is soooo much easier to tell the truth than to have to make up a lie, I was amazed. I wished I’d started with the no lying earlier in life!

The Etceterist: Go For It, Sarah Palin!

Why aren’t the Republicans upset that Palin spent RNC $ on her own clothing? I don’t understand why this is okay with them. If either of the Obamas had done that, you know damn well we’d all hear about it, and and the Dems would not like it one little bit. It’s obviously not a big issue, but it is irksome.

What do you think is the real reason men are afraid of women over 50?

Marriage was only worth it for the children? That’s really very sad….. you married the wrong women…

3 Reasons Why Some Women Hate Sarah Palin

” doggone it”, I’m sure she’d forget to curtsey…. I surely hope the American people can see through her sparkly smiles and winks long enough to understand she is not capable of leading this country.

Do you color your hair?

Gosh, I’ve not been here in ages, but the words James Lee Burke caught my eye and I had to respond! JLB is by far my favorite author, he is something special. I’d love to sit and talk to the guy for just an hour. His Robicheaux and Billy Bob stories, well, I just can’t put them down. When I get them, I have to save them for a time I know I’ve got nothing to do for a day or so and then I’m like a pig in mud! With Swan Peak, he got even better, if that’s possible. I encourage everyone to read him. And about the hair, I’ve been coloring since my early 30’s when those first grays showed up intermingled with my dark brown. I look old and washed out with such a light color mixed in with the dark color. To hell with going gray with dignity (for me, anyway).
