A Letterman Update: More Information, More Thoughts, by Margo Howard
Kathy, sociopaths are all around us, increasingly so in fact. They’re adept at being the supreme moralists, and bashing their own images - without a consicience; dangerous people. The writers are not much different when they perpetuate sickness for money.
Letterman slid into the coal bin with me in the late 90s - he’s aged terribly in that regard, almost desperate to prove himself - on the tube and to others (himself?). That is not what I want from any communication medium, thus, I agree with you - but remember, people like him are everywhere, and the numbers are growing the past 10 years in America.

Kathy, what always seems to surprise me, as I AGE, is how much alike people are who slam one another - almost as if one despised oneself - thus what that perceived mirror-image popped up, WHAM.
In the case of comedians (or whatever they view themselves as on paper), it may be sick writers, but their masters are not puppets.

What is the bravest thing you have ever done?
Oh gracious - did you ever check him out on his "contributions" on "that" website that lists all of them!~?? ;-)) I was shocked that the Four Corners region is their primary US holdings, and the standard of living is abysmal - pay for professionals with them is a travesty plus the oil field worker make at least 300% more than the professionals but they are ‘stuck’ there, while Mulva scoops up his largess, and moves on. Does he have an apt. at the Houstonian? ;-))

Deber, at this point, I doubt he is concerned about re-election! He’s far above that, and also above being pressured to the point of changing what he believes is best for America, by anyone, in any Party! No one is perfect by any means, but I do believe he has our nation’s best interest first in his mind, and plans. Other nations think so too, obviously - but that too won’t ‘drive’ him.
What is the bravest thing you have ever done?
Laura, your "parent company worth $2 billion … " et al reminds me of ConocoPhillips wailing about having to "sell off" when their US holdings are a mere pittance to their vast fortunes - here come U.S. lay-offs! We may be naive, but we are not idiots!
Gourmet Magazine to Close
Gourmet will be a loss, but in this era where everyone and anyone is a "chef," or can have their recipes published in a book, this is not a surprise. I used to exist on Gourmet in grad school when I was also a young mother/spouse - it always obtained the secret recipes from great resaturants for me!
If Julia was on PBS today she wouldn’t survive. Julia was supplanted by the chatty, narcissistic, flamboyant bloke who runs his self-procaimed America’s Test Kitchen, and all the women ‘under’ him, and guards his recipes to the point of $$$ only. How boring.
Cooking is an art, and Gourmet maintained its status.
Wig sales are down ... Do you think the stigma of male baldness has eroded? What do you think about bald (or balding) men?

The past 5 years, I’ve yet to find one of those shows worth watching - men pracing are not my idea of enjoyment, and women determinedly half nude as a guest aren’t either! Another half-A …. is Ferguson. That man did well in some films, and was funny - now he’s reached the lowest depths to keep the laugh tracks spinning. Life is far too much fun to waste time on these men. It’s time for some decent progamming with credible performers - where are they?
