Mrs. Megdad, part of sex education o is Abstinence. it is actually the most important part because that is what the Bible says. Now ,in a perfect world, teenagers and adults would read the “WORD” however, it is not happening so we need to teach them about Birth control, STD prevention and alternatives like adoption. But I know from listening to the people I serve that they are not thinking about the scriptures when they find themselves in a tight spot. Like I said in a post a few days ago, I hope no one ever has an abortion, but I still support the right to chose. I am a mentor in a program for girls, it is a Christian group- so I don’t think that anyone teaching the Word is a puritanical holy roller; I do think some Christians need to realize that we have to be more proactive in stopping the television, film and music industries from saturating the air with the trash that promotes promiscuity. However, we all know where that leads- “Right to Free Speach” so, MRS. Meqdad, the work is cut out for all of us who want to see an end to un-wanted pregnancies and STD’s. It is like killing the dragon, where do you strike first? Do you strike the head, the body or the tail? I participated in a great program in Texas a few years back where we let the teens direct the path to repairing the problems teens face. They chose to do a documentary in the form of commercials about the life of a teen mother- it was great and the teens in the school responded well to it. I actually had 2 girls tell me that they changed their minds about becoming pregnant, however there were others who did it anyway. So we can teach morals, faith, sex education, we can even show the the reality of how tough it is to be a teen parent or be sick from a STD, none of it is wroking 100% but if we can keep one at a time from making a mistake then we keep getting one at a time. Never said you can’t raise childre to a higher standard, I just know that for teens- peer pressure is soooo great a force in their lives and I know how much so many of them want their parents ot think highly of them so they lead a double life- the one the parents see and the one their peers and teachers see. Believe it or not it is ususlly my Christian kids who can’t talk to their parents beacuse they get preached to and never listened to. Thats the reality. I never said we can’t raise our children to a higher standard. I have done that and I know others who have as well but we can’t live with every child and raise them all. And for clarity about idiots, I said MRS. Palins comments were idiodic, I never called her an idiot. There is a difference! By working in a no idiot zone, you miss opportunities to minister to lost people; that kind of mind set only allows you to stay in safe zone while the numbers of idiots keep growing. COME out of the “No Idiot Zone” save a life. : )

Elaine, I don’t have to nor will I qualify or quantify my knowledge skills or abilities to you or anyone else, however, let me remind you that you are also sitting at your computer with time on your hands and although I disagree with some of the things you write I haven’t thought you to be an idiot. I am not a politician,however, I my dear lady do a lot more for this country than you would ever know. Now if the “moral compass” you are speaking of includes not teaching youth about sex and sexuality in a realistic, safe and healthy manner, thus possibly preventing the need for soomeone to want an abortion or even the need for expensive drugs to mask the symptoms of potentially fatal sexually transmitted diseases then you are right, I don’t want to be guided by that. It is idiotic to believe that sex education is not needed. Every day I meet parents who felt that sex education was immoral however they are not happy with being grand parents at the ages of 35 years of age. And finally, Ms. Meqdad, the stance that Sarah Palin has on abortion is not the only reason I am glad she was not chosen as the VP elect. I question her allegiance to this great country since she has ties to that party in Alaska that wanted to be seperated fron the United States, I also think that she could have done her party a favor by simply thanking John McCain for selecting her, but acknowledge that she was not currently informed on national or internation issues as well as a VP candidate should be. Let’s be real, she had just recently given birth and was running her own state and household, the woman is still running on post partum hormones. Her stance on abortion is minuscule as compared to her total lack of being prepared for the campaign she was used in. FInally, dear lady, inhale slowly, now exhale. You are really taking this blog stuff way too seriously. You should get out more, meet more people maybe even some idiots. Have a peaceful blog.

Elaine, Sarah Palin doesn’t use idioms- she uses IDIOTIC-isms. I’ll pass on the butterfly net but a new remote for the TV so I can mute the volume when Gov. Palin is on. Oh and by the way lighten up! In the great scheme of things she is still THE GOV. of ALASKA. Yeah!

Irish Eyes, let it go, PLEASE! Mrs. Obama expresed very clearly what she meant by that statement and as a Black Woman born and raised in America, I agreed with her sentiment. America has been very unkind to many of us minorities in many covert ways. Black people have had more love and faith in America than America has had in Black People.

Watching the reports on Sarah Palin’s interviews is liike watching a train wreck or a burning building. It’s sad but you just can’t stop watching. This woman is her own worst enemy. She needs to lose gracefully, go home, run her state, care for her kids and stop talking to the press. She needs to take HS civics again and read as many news magazines as possible. I hope she stays in the news because each time she is interviewed she looks more and more like an egotistical opportunistic status seeker. America does not like people who only care about themselves. She kills me with her new line about kicking in the door if God opens it for her. Is that the way we want to treat a door opened by God Himself? Kicking it? How ‘bout if God opens a door for you, you thank Him and walk in quietly and see whats on the other side first. Can you imagine kickin’ open the door and on the other side is God, Jesus and a few disciples maybe a couple of prophets? How embarrasing - you just kicked in the door like Bruce Lee. LOL Whew!! ‘nough said.

DeB, they gave her a pass on that and… she was not 8 years old when that took place, like Obama was when W.A. was blowing up stuff.

FIrst, don’t feel bad for me or any militay family - remember the military consists of 100% volunteers ( unconditionally- whether we agree or disagree with the call to duty we have to support our military personnell) Secondly, we do stick together- around here we bleed Army Green. Military families will also have mortgage troubles as all of us do not love on post (or bases) Invasions- fine- what ever you call it there is fighting going on and lives are being ruined and or lost. I agree we need to bring our troops home because they were sent out on a mission based on a lie told to the country by our war mongering lame duck president. But please, respect the fact that these brave men and women volunterred to serve our country in ways most of us would not, and they are prepared to answer to the call of the Commander in Chief whether he is right or wrong. They took an oath and thank God that they are true to their country. I am happy that President Elect Obama is planning to bring our troops home and give Iraq the reigns to their own horse.

Amelie, I agree. Let’s focus on the economy and these wars. Being a military spouse I believe the two are greatly inter-twined. When we bring the soldiers home, they will spend lots of money on cars, clothes, movies and other stuff to boost the economy. RIght now military families are only buying what they absolutely need and in some cities with large bases that have had large numbers of troops deployed, stores are closing left and right.

DeBurca I agree! I hope they keep her. However, she and her hubby, the first DUDE might just get the state of Alaska to Secede from the United States and then she could be the queen.

Tanja, during the next interview with Palin, do me a favor, REALLY LISTEN to her and wach the face of the interviewer. Sarah Palin Babbles, she roams around for words as if English is her second language. The interviewers always look bewildered as if to say WTH?!? Remember… The pundits and reporters did say that the McCain Camp was going after the uneducated voters, maybe thats why Palin was so appealing to so many.

Ro I love your optimism but, some converations at my work place this week proved that the lyrics are still and will remain “We Shall Overcome”. There are places and people in these places who still believe that African Americans, like children, should be seen and not heard from unless thay are directed to speak. This week some of us learned that we are great for lunch partners and advisors on personal problems but there is no way on earth we should be in the white house. You should read the ignorant and angry posts on facebook and my space. The teens of this country in some areas are sounding pretty dangerous.
