Liz Smith: Helen Mirren, a True Russki
Liz,
My brother and I have both read Wishful Drinking and you’re right, Carrie is a scream! I would love to be able to see her perform in person. Alas, the book will have to do! One of my favorite movies is Postcards from the Edge which is about her and her mother, Debbie Reynolds. All in all, I think Carrie, Debbie and their family history is funny, while I also know they had their heartaches over the years. When I was a youngster, I adored Debbie’s version of Tammy. I shouldn’t go on, but I will. On Will and Grace, Debbie was a riot as Grace’s mother. Again, I would always look forward to any episode that included Debbie.

Candice Bergen: An Alternative Punishment for Roman Polanski
Mugsy,
I totally agree with your assessment. No one is in favor of child rape and neither you, me or Candice has said they were.
Candice Bergen: An Alternative Punishment for Roman Polanski
Frances England,
I would be glad to answer your post if you can point out how I insulted Kathy Lee and what my contradictions are. I believe I disagreed with her, but I don’t believe I insulted her. And, btw, I’m entitled to my opinion too, whether you like it or not!

Kathy Lee,
You have a right to your opinion. Being ashamed of Candice and Whoopi, who you think have turned their backs on women and children, is also your right. However, they have not turned their backs on women and children, just because they’ve expressed themselves, just as you have expressed yourself. Debra Winger took herself out of the Hollywood scene by the way; she didn’t "wash up". I am ashamed of the fact that you think this site should be renamed to what you called it. WowOwow.com was not set up just so the panelists could have opinions about women’s issues only. They can have opinions about all the news. That’s what they’ve done, although Whoopi did not state her opinion on wowOwow, but on The View. The View is also not there to support only what’s good or bad for women. They express themselves on many, many matters as the show was developed to do. Just because you don’t agree with these women’s opinions does not make you right and does not make them "wicked."
Candice Bergen: An Alternative Punishment for Roman Polanski
M R,
It was you who connected the thought that Candice might be so hard up that she might want or need a part in one of Polanski’s films. That is why I listed her many, many roles in film and t.v. It was to counter your notion that she must be "hard up" and need a role in any film, Polanksi’s or others. Make up your mind about what you’re expressing and then, write again. And once more, whether you’re a child or not, realize that Murphy Brown might have "wiped the floor with RP" but so might Kojak or The Police Woman or The Mod Squad. All of these are just characters and Candice just happened to play Murphy Brown. Your comment that Candice must feel the need to lick his boots so that she could get a part in one of them is just inflammatory. Candice is a gentle soul with a good mind and heart who just happens to be on the panel of wowOwow and was asked to respond to this question. Perhaps you surround yourself with "boot lickers" but Candice does not and is not one. The freedom that gives you and Candice the right to speak also gives you the right to "name call" (i.e. "boot licker"), but on this site, I think the Community Manager has made a statement about that, so you’re out of line.
Should Roman Polanski go to prison?
Dear WOWOWOW panelists,
I just don’t understand the way you all are doing things these days. First, you ask a very provocative question which you know will meet with great passion. Second, only 3 of the entire panel answered the question. Why not request that at least half the panel help pay for this site by answering some of these tough questions. By having Candice, Liz and Joan answer this question, they lay themselves open to being criticized because they are part of t.v., Hollywood or entertainment in some form. I’d really like to see some of the people who are not "in the industry" give their beliefs, thoughts, opinions on this Roman Polanski issue. Why not?
