No, there won’t be a backlash against Margo for speaking her mind. More people agree with her on this site than disagree with her. I keep reading that you are waking up and watching now and will not be tricked anymore. That tells me during the Bush years you were asleep, not watching and were tricked. I hope you are waking up now and able to read all the posters on this site who do not agree with you assessment of the situation mentioned by Margo.

You’re absolutely right about more things making us alike than different. More of us should look back at our own family’s history. Even Senator John McCain’s family has a history of plantation and slave ownership in Mississippi. His brother knew about it and remembered visiting the old home place there, but John evidently had forgotten it.

Ancestry.com is available to ALL of us should we so choose to use it. We find out a lot of things about ourselves and our ancestors that opens our eyes. Finding out these things could make us feel kinder and more compassionate toward other people.

Thanks for reporting this, but it’s just horrible. I hate to see my state listed among those you listed, but most of all, I cannot believe (but should) that "domestic violence victim" is considered a pre-existing condition. I wonder what they consider the perpetrator of violence… the "born originator of violence"?

C, I don’t know whether Bush had boos from Dems at his addresses or not, because I never watched him. He was not just worth listening to and so, I have no answer for your question. The situation, since you say it happened, must not have been newsworthy or maybe people in general didn’t care. I just don’t know. I suspect the situations were not the same since in this present case, there were millions watching President Obama’s address who actually heard "one voice" with "one blatantly rancorous comment" addressed directly to the President. There were other places and times in which he could have expressed his views… he chose the wrong time and the wrong place and he’s paying for it now. Congress has rules of "decorum" and he breached them.

Obama does not need to answer the phone to Wilson. What Wilson did during the President’s address cannot be atoned for with just a phoned-in apology, which he was "told" to do by his party. He needs to stand before the House and make a public apology for his behavior to be accounted for.
