A little self-reflection, ladies? Tell us: What adjectives best describe you?

Persistent but polite, curious and constantly amazed by people.

'Hillaryland' Moving to State Department?

Don’t see anything wrong with having loyal members join her staff. Better to have proven participants than maybe a fox in disguise in the hen house, so to speak. Sounds like sour grapes from existing employees but that is politics and, to some extent, necessary to hit the ground running. There isn’t time in this climate to have to get people used to her style and how she handles things if everyone was new. You gotta do what you gotta do.

We could all use some comic relief. Make us laugh! What's the best joke you've ever heard?

Carmel-by-the-Sea’s contribution reminds me of a similar joke that I always remembered. This girl (I won’t say a blond) heard a knock at her door and it was a person delivering a telegram (remember those). She was so delighted that she wanted him to sing it. He said he really didn’t want to do that but she insisted. So he sang, “Harry and the kids are dead.” I M Lizzie’s joke was the one I was trying to remember. That one always gets a smile from me. How clever some people are. Hope many more people send some in as this is a fun thing to respond to.

We know times are tough, but what will you still treat yourself to?

Sherrie, reconsider possibly giving up your land line. Talk to your provider to see if there is a better deal they can offer you. I did that and am saving $10/month there. Then Verizon called me about my cell (as I use it mostly to have something when I am out of the house to use for emergencies) and they offered me a $13/mo deal which is now saving me $20/mo. There is nothing like the signal a land line will give you. The times I call someone and have a 20 minute conversation without losing them is worth it. Oh, and I do my own roots too.

3 Steps to Living Well in a Dismal Economy, by Julie Morgenstern

Sam, I don’t put my clothes in the dryer and they do last for years. When I became ill about 3 years ago I went on disability and didn’t have to buy a thing and still don’t (although a new sweater or blouse now and again is a treat). Of course, I know how to use an iron if the occasional wrinkle doesn’t go away and I wonder how many of the younger generation even own an iron.

Biden Wants a Little Bit of That Palin Mojo (Video)

Oh Walter, lighten up. Things will get bad enough for both Obama and Biden so a little levity now should be appreciated.

Openly Gay Mary Beth Maxwell To Head Labor Team?

I agree, Josie. The first thing I thought of is that her sexuality is how a Republican would look at her. Not her capabilities but her sexuality, as if that matters. By saying that I am as bad so now I have to laugh at myself.

Remember when ... What is your favorite high school memory?

My boyfriend bought a ‘57 turquoise Chevy and we thought we were so cool. It didn’t have much in the way of brakes so we didn’t go very fast but the whole idea was to be seen anyway. He wore out a lot of left shoes.

Citigroup to Get Another $20 Billion in Federal Bailout Money

It is interesting to me that social security is running out of money but the government is talking about billions for this and billions for that. So I guess seniors weren’t considered that important all along.

Pelosi on 'Face the Nation': 'Several Hundred Billion Dollars' Needed to Stimulate the Economy

Making auto execs accountable is a good first step. Private jets for one person, fax and copy machines and limo service for family, paid cell phones for family and other perks should be paid for by the executive and not the company. I realize the execs themselves need to be in touch but the family members should not be paid for by the company. Golf meetings at fancy getaways, big lavish dinner parties are things of the past. Bonuses should be based on productivity and not promised automatically and golden parachutes should be eliminated as the bonuses throughout tenure would cover any productive results produced. Start there and millions would be saved right off the top.

What do you do keep your spirits up during hard times?

Read, read, read. It helps the mind focus on something other than the problem and sometimes the diversion helps the subconscious come to a solution.

What besides wine becomes better with age?

What gets better with age? The numbers get higher and those with the most numbers win. (That is if you can remember how old you are.)

Comedian Wanda Sykes Comes Out Swinging Against Prop 8, Declares She's Married to a Woman

Okpulot Taha points out messing with Mother Nature is almost always not a good idea. However, a child raised in a loving family is almost always better off because of a loving foundation. Some social skills are always skewed in mixed relationships but so called normal families affect their children’s outlooks also. Better a loving relationship than a feeling of not being wanted anywhere.

Comedian Wanda Sykes Comes Out Swinging Against Prop 8, Declares She's Married to a Woman

People I know are still upset about the designation of husband and wife being the only acceptable marriage and can’t understand why gay people can’t accept a legal partnership. When I point out that religious weddings are not in question but civil marriages only, they are usually surprised. Maybe if the gays point this out more often, there would be less objection to the marriages. People do have selective hearing and just saying equal rights all the time isn’t enough. Point out what isn’t going to change (like teaching children about same sex marriages) in schools would be much more effective.

Are 'Mom Jeans' Back?

I’m also into elastic waist pants. There are a lot of us out there who wear their blouses and tees outside the pants so who cares if the “mom jeans” go high as long as they are comfortable. As we age comfort is more important than looking trendy. Trendy is just a ploy to sell more clothes.
