I have to agree. I’m always amazed at their lack of compassion. Maybe they’ll learn that being proactive is more satisfying than making life more frightening for others.

Hear, Hear!! My husband has been saying that we should just call all legal marriages, civil unions, and anyone who wants to be titled married can do it in a church. Of course, that would enrage many married couples. It’s all about human rights. Do all humans have rights, or just the part of our society approved of by the religious right. The fact that we are having the discussion is very hopeful.

They have done their research. If the girls are safe and have a somewhat normal life, then I’m sure the parents don’t care what it costs. It’s too bad being president has to be so scary. McCain and Palin could have done a little better in this area. They whipped up the racism and evil in our country. I hope it will settle down soon.

Just take good care of who you have now. That’s enough, and it’s very good modeling for other families.

As a retired principal and teacher, your comments about the people at Youthville reminded me of so many fine people. Congratulations to you and your new daughter. You are what is called, the salt of the earth. You will be sure that this child and her siblings thrive.

I can see how a parent could do this. Angry teenagers are no picnic. If you can’t afford to feed them or keep them warm and safe. If you are alone with no support. I can see a parent doing this out of love.

DeB, I love Chicago. I lived there when I was 21, with three United Airlines stewardesses. We had a one bedroom apartment in the best spot on Michigan Avenue on the 23rd floor. It was great fun. I’ll always love the feeling of walking north, into the wind. So glad I did it.

I agree with Phyllis and Maurine. Hillary will be sixty-nine in eight years. I’d love to see her run, after Obama has eight years. He’ll help her. She’ll win and women will be so empowered. I would feel safer for myself and my family if she were on the Supreme Court. Whatever she wants.
