LIZ SMITH FLASH! The Kennedy Conspiracy and the Mafia

I’ve been reading Captains and the Kings, all about powerful men & how they exert their will & dangerous plans to the extent of murder/assassination. Now you’ve really scared me.

Liz Smith: New DVD Treasure – 'The Two Mrs. Grenvilles'

I watched "An Englishman in New York" a few nights ago on the LOGO tv station.  It was excellent.  We saw Quentin Crisp at the Ritz in London in the ’80s.  We were chaperoning a student group on a London Theatre tour & took them to tea.  The waiter said that we were seated at Mr. Crisp’s (regular) table.  Is that why he kept glancing at us "not amused"?

Liz Smith: A Worker for Life

For those of us in our generation, that was accepted as a way of life.  Our parents used to say when we wanted a bike, a car or otherwise asked for money, etc., "Go to work (or get a job)".  For my husband, it was said in Italian!  :))

Liz Smith: The 25 Faces of Anna Deavere Smith

The Marguaux Hemingway story IS a rehash idea, sad but done to death.  To have Anna Deavere Smith & Hal Holbrook on the same page is a vast contrast.  These are people who are worth our attention & newsprint.  Marvelous.  ADS really came to my attention on "Nurse Jackie".  I look forward to seeing more of her work.  Holbrook’s been around "forever", & he never disappoints.

Liz Smith: Jonathan Rhys Meyers – Those Lips, Those Eyes!

Oh, "Those Lips, Those Eyes", indeed!  When I saw those words in relation to Jonathan Rhys Meyers, I could have written them myself.  Yes, I laughed out loud.  I slowly scrolled down through the photo, holding my breath.  Oh, my, isn’t he a dish?  I’m 72 yrs. old.  A dish is a dish.  How did you ever keep your concentration in the interview?

Liz Smith 'Despises' John Edwards, 'Loves' Martha Stewart

I can’t compare Edwards to Letterman, either.  Edwards is scum.  Letterman is just a "guy" who acted like a guy, if you know what I mean.  Imus certainly did the right thing, I hope because it was the right thing to do & not just to get everyone off his back.  I agree with you about Martha Stewart.

Liz Smith Knows Her Charities Help Actual People

Marvelous, Liz.  Please continue to keep us aware of such charities.  Many people do not know about them, or are in doubt about their money actually reaching people who need the services offered.

Liz Smith on Gender Equality: 'Women Will Always Have to Struggle'

You’re right, Liz both on our progress and our future.  As long as men (prefer to) think of women "in the kitchen" or "in the bedroom", they will flaunt their "superior brains" & innate desire for power & control.  Women at the same time need to walk softly & carry the proverbial big stick (no pun intended) in order to attain their goals.

Liz Smith Fears Another Vietnam

Liz, all I can say is that my husband & I agree with you & those who think the same about our president & the way he is working for the good of all of us.  "Hatefulness" is represented by the stubborn people who will not give Obama an inch but rather, look for every nit-picking & mostly untrue ("facts" disputed by experts) reason to discredit him, even at their own peril.  That is not only "hateful", but unproductive & bottom line, stupid.

Liz Smith: John Cleese Divorces the Madoff-Mills Love Child?

Let’s let the Letterman thing die.  The relationship(s) were consensual.  Nobody’s going after the women (nor should they), as if it was all Letterman & his peccadilloes.  His problem is that he got caught, even after a period of time.  Also, what were the intentions of "diary girl" when she kept a running account of their affair?  Hello!  Not our business.  He is a successful comedian who is human like the rest of us.

Liz Smith: Law & Order's Shady D.A. – Christine Lahti

I hadn’t watched L & O SVU very much until recently.  My husband seems to have seen every existing L & O of the three (?) genres & I wonder when he will "run out".  I’ve caught up with Christine’s participation in the series with #2 & 3, & her character IS a force with mostly extreme bitchiness & a deep vulnerability that grabs the viewer.  Had I known that she is an ongoing member of the cast, I wouldn’t have missed her in #!

Candice Bergen's Advice to Balding Men

Those comb-overs are ridiculous.  How about the dye-jobs?  They seem especially noticeable on TV - too dark, or sometimes, as my husband says, "prematurely red".  Our son who is 40, gave up a few years old & shaves his head.  Of course he’s stunning (I’m The Mother).  :))

Liz Smith on Roman Polanski: Formerly the 'Most Detestable Creature Imaginable'

If Polanski doesn’t get punished, other vermin will think they have a chance at evading Justice.  Artist?  75 years old?  He committed a heinous crime.  He’s overdue for paying for his actions.

Candice Bergen on the Dreams That Came True

Me, too, Candice.  I married my high school sweetheart 53 years ago & we are still mad about each other.  We have three kids, 4 grands, & 1 great-granddaughter.  We are healthy & are grateful for & appreciate the things we’ve learned over the years, & for people who really "make" our lives.
