I do understand your argument, but it isn’t entirely true with respect to all corporations. Many small banks are doing well and some corporations are also. But even if they were not, when they are doing better, then they will be taxed more. So they are then in the same position. Liz Peek didn’t say the whole stimulus was wrong or anything like that, she specifically addressed some of the questionable, worrisome parts of the packages and new budget.

Rita, You can only call this bashing if she is wrong. Where are your answers to the many questions she poses? Like this one…and all the others. She is bringing up legitimate questions. And it seems the liberals on this site just don’t want to face the potential problems from the guy they like so much.

Thank you, Liz. This was incredibly detailed and a good challenge to the Obama supporters on this site. I’m guessing this is evident, but articles on here that challenge Pres Obama are just not seen as credible.
If Liz Peek is wrong, I want to see the answer to her questions, not just a general bashing of her very specific questions about Pres Obama’s plans.
How about this one…"He wants to help the poor while at the same time discouraging charitable giving by the wealthiest Americans." To be me it looks like class warfare, or just not a smart move. Which is it??
Here’s a question I want to ask someone. President Obama used a 50 cent increase in the cig tax to pay for the additional SCHIP enrollees. First of all, as we all know this amounts to an additional tax on the low income (mostly). I thought he was trying to reduce those taxes. Secondly, why then did they propose in the "stimulus" bill (I don’t know if it made the cut) $58 or so million for a smoking cessation program? So he is going to fund a critically important program (SCHIP) with a tax on low income smokers, while he also funds at the same time a HUGE smoking cessation program. This makes absolutely no sense—what if the cessation program works? Now there are no taxes to go towards SCHIP—sure they can find the money somewhere. But why not a better solution up front? I know all Presidents do these sorts of things, but it seems to me he is speaking out of both sides of his mouth.
In Expected Move, Obama Moves to Lift Bush's 'Conscience' Rule
By the way, Belinda, I do certainly admire your passion and loyalty to Pres Obama. Sorry I didn’t add that to the previous post. :-)

I wish I knew a good answer for this. It’s all extremely complicated and I think both political sides look at it from a very idealistic point of view. This inhibits them from making good decisions. One sides wants all free market, one wants all government. (I know, I know the Dems talk about private sector being involved.)
I’ve been on Cobra, but there are other options and most people just don’t look for them. I’ve talked to many people about this—including my neighbors who are paying $1500 a month (they are older). They have traditional insurance. I had to do lots of homework to understand what’s out there and make good decisions. I negotiate with doctors, watch my bills, hold the insurance accountable, etc. It’s work—but that’s life.
My conservative bent is certainly different from a lot on this site, but I love people and think we should take care of them. I just feel that does not always mean a handout—the easy way. I learn a lot from the ladies (some men) on this site and is why I choose not to go to sites where I can hear how great my opinion is—where we all think alike. I hope to see continued, friendly debate and discussion on here. Thank you for yours!

Belinda, You may hate the day you welcomed me back to this sight—ha! But just because one opposes abortion does not mean you are against all women’s rights and I know the liberals on here are smart enough to realize that. Besides for those of us on the other side—we always want to point out that the rights of those unborn women (babies) are clearly violated. Also, I would be greatly surprised if Pres Obama while trying to protect women’s rights, disses the Doctor’s rights to refuse to provide certain services. There are women doctors with different views from his out there—they deserve protection to make choices also.
Additionally, I have yet to see a response where you think Pres Obama does anything wrong—ever or has ever or will ever. This man is not perfect and will make mistakes—just as all men. It is interesting how most of his supporters on here take little issue with anything he does. Is it really possible to agree with one person on everything? I don’t think so. Now I know he is new, but I think you have followed him for quite a while.
As someone who voted for Pres Bush, I agreed on some things he did and a lot he didn’t. As I do with every politician, my husband, my pastor, etc.

Hello Dab-a-do, I may have mis-typed if I said our deductible is $100—it’s our monthly premium for our children that is less than $100.
We have a high-deductible ($5650) HSA plan. Our preventative services (well visits, etc. are covered with a $20 copay—this covers about $650 - 1000 of charges a year.) I’m sure you are aware of those. Please keep in mind, I understand that low income (low income) families would struggle with $360 a month (for a whole family) and would struggle saving the deductible for a catastrophe. But lower-middle, middle would not. They would have to prioritize their healthcare. They could keep their money and use it for healthcare when they need it. And if they owned a home, it’s likely that they could deduct their contributions.
I would like to see our government look for private sector ways to solve this problem, not just throw $$ at this. There should be several solutions—including limited malpractice, transparency of fees (encourages competition of doctors), options like HSAs for healthy, young folks and continued government involvement for the needy. Anyway, I’m happy to give our information when asked. And you did it so nicely!

Yes, I’ve heard that one. But not everything he says are lies. There are two sides to every story, and one can move numbers around or just have a difference of opinion—just like those on here. Fore instance—for every person and statistic that says universal healthcare is a good thing, you will have an equally smart person and compelling statistic to say the opposite.
And I remember something I also learned as a child. Two wrongs don’t make a right. So just because Rush speaks ugly, doesn’t make it right for Margo to do the same. :-)

Everyone here is defending and loving this woman. Does anyone on here think the comment "…would argue that pregnancy is akin to "involuntary servitude," is a problem? For a lot of ladies (and gentlemen) that spend a lot of time picking apart Bush and his admin.—why do you ignore these disturbing comments? This comment is a bright light on how she feels about some people. So she loves and respects terror suspects, but feels like growing a human life makes one a slave? I’ve been reprimanded on here for suggesting some torture might save lives. If I’m held accountable for respecting ALL human lives, why don’t you hold her to the same standards?
Obama Announces Budget, Republicans Unimpressed
Sure—Obama’s added in the war dollars to make it transparent what Bush did—but added in this budget item for a program we don’t have yet?!
I just spoke with a gentlemen from Canada around the election who liked their healthcare. So I asked—why does everyone come here for higher quality care? Why do the doctors come here? He said when you are sick you can go to the doctor, but you may have to wait a while for an MRI. So—let me get this right—when you have a cold, there’s nothing to worry about. When you have a very serious problem (maybe cancer) that may require an MRI, you have to wait. That’s what I want—worse care for serious problems.
And then he said, "when you get your universal healthcare, our problems of people and doctors going to the States will be fixed." Indeed!
Margo Howard Calls Rush Limbaugh a Fat Fool
Unfortunately ladies, this is a group think with everyone patting themselves on their backs. Rush is not my favorite, but Margo calling him a "fat fool" was hardly becoming to a writer on this site.
The problems we have—not all Bush’s, but Bush’s, Clintonss, and on and on. All of our politicians have spent and spent, and Obama is continuing the trend. But I’m telling you taxing people more is not going to work—you are hurting the producers which in the end hurts the "workers." If Obama really wanted to walk the walk, he would have cut more spending. But he doesn’t want to anymore than the rest did—he wants his programs, his agendas, his way (and your ways in most cases). We’re getting what you guys were getting 8 years ago and I don’t like it. But unfortunately he’s the same as they all are, and he’s not doing anything to convince me differently.
