Obama Likely to Reverse GOP's International Abortion 'Gag' Today

Those of us on the right side of this issue do not see it as women’s right—but as an unborn child’s rights. The bottom line is that if you see abortion as a women’s right to choose, then you make the decision that the baby never gets a choice. I’m sure these funds will help women in poor countries, but I’m dissappointed that Pres Obama found this as one of his first things to do knowing how controversial it is. I’d like to see a little more of what he said about representing all Americans.

I believe all people deserve certain protection from harrassment/”enhanced terrogation” until they do something that strips them of those rights. It’s kind of like trusting your children, until they do something to damage your trust. Then you have to discipline them, take away their “rights,” until they prove they can earn back your trust. Part of my reason for debating this is idealogy—political or personal—is that there is not an easy answer to this. If we as Americans were faced with losing NYC and millions of Americans to a bomb, and we didn’t do everything we could to get that information out of someone—there would lots of people who all of the sudden didn’t mind a little “torture.” As for bringing them here—if it comes to that—then you would have to guarantee them rights any of our prisoners have—certainly. I would rather not have them here, just as I would rather not have any mass murderer in my “background.” (I understand they are not proven guilty—but I’ll assume some are guilty.) Anyway, good interesting debate. I’m sure everyone on this site has already forgotten that John McCain agreed with most of you on this! :-) But then I guess if you give him any approval, that “goes off subject.” Have a good day!

Sarah Palin Says: Tomorrow, Barack Obama Is My President

Sure—me too! My question is what would you do/condone to SAVE your children and/or thousand/millions of Americans?

You are right in that we have values and we shouldn’t compromise them—so maybe I am wrong on this. But no one on this site will answer my question, “What if Pres Obama’s children (or my children, or yours ) were in a city about to obliterated and we knew a detainee knew where the bomb was—would we break a kneecap to get the answer? These are questions not easily answered by idealogy. Should we wait until that happens to come up with a plan?

Thanks for the information. I wasn’t aware of the 3rd party and I had already agreed that there were probably some detainees that are innocent. Do all people deserve certain human “rights”? That’s an interesting question and I’m not sure I can answer it yes or no. Because I believe at some point you lose your “rights” because of your actions. I do believe we are all made equal in God’s sight—even terrorists. And every human has a chance for redemption and forgiveness. Your decisions do have consequences and at least some of the detainees are in that position. Certainly that is why we put people in prisons and strip them of their rights. So then do you believe that a human that murders has rights (maybe to a fair trial?)—what if he confessed? And aren’t the rights of the victims trampled? The sticking point here is that not all detainees (presumably) are guilty—so let’s find a way to sift through those in a humane and practical way. But to use a tired phrase (sorry)—“don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.”

Deb, I don’t think of myself as a fund Christian—I am a follower of Christ. And I am a human too. My imperfect nature leads me to believe that to save many, you may have to hurt one. Maybe I’m absolutely wrong. But what is your answer to this? Would you sacrifice a thousands/millions of people to save one who has evil intent towards our way of life, our democracy? And as for this psych. torture, we train our own people with it and they are not harmed. And neither evidently was the mastermind of 9/11; he is still alive and well. But I understand your point that there can be no in between—it makes sense in theory—but I’m not sure in practice.

Sarah Palin Says: Tomorrow, Barack Obama Is My President

Well I didn’t know that. Let me clarify what I think waterboarding is—psychological torture. So yes, it is torture. But I want to ask you and all of you that don’t want “torture.” If NYC was threatened with a bomb and thousands of people would die, would you not feel it necessary to break the kneecap of someone who might be able to tell you where to find the bomb? What if your children were there? What is Pres Obama’s precious children were there?

Sarah Palin Says: Tomorrow, Barack Obama Is My President

I didn’t say Obama thinks he is the one—I said he didn’t think that. Anyway, I’m not falling for spin—I have friends that adore him in spite of his politics and voted for him in spite of his politics. As for the Independent Commission—yes, they concluded that there was major intelligence failure, but there was not proof that he lied. Looks I have more responses due you—so I’ll stop there.

That Bush lied, DeB, is NOT documented and agreed upon by everyone. And you saying it does not make it true. And I don’t agree that he tortured, if you are referring to waterboarding. So, what you are saying is opinion. And that’s what this site is about. But, I’m a fundamentalist Christian—according to most—and that does not make me think of the Anti-Christ—in fact, that comment of yours made me laugh. I just think lots of people have turned Pres Obama into an object to be adored and that is probably why the comment was “the one.” It was sarcasm. I don’t believe Pres Obama thinks he’s “the one.”

Sarah Palin Searching for Book Deal – and TV?

Yes, I’m with you on Clinton—poor Hillary. Your posts are some of my favorites, so I’ll keep reading.

Sarah Palin Says: Tomorrow, Barack Obama Is My President

DeB, I agree with you, but certainly you haven’t jabbed at anyone who disrespected Pres Bush on this site. But then you would have been too busy with well…your life…since you would have had about 100 plus a day to respond to. Respect should come from both sides.

Sarah Palin Says: Tomorrow, Barack Obama Is My President

The problem with the left and the liberal fringe is that they are so hateful and refused to be so gracious when Bush was elected, who I did NOT vote for. Amen to that!

Sarah Palin Says: Tomorrow, Barack Obama Is My President

Oh Belinda, I think secretly deep-down you want to like Sarah Palin, I mean you watched her interview! :-) But I think she thinks like I do—doesn’t this take the issue off the table that people with dark skin (considering Obama is “half black/half white) can ascend to the highest office in the country—arguably the world? Neither she or I can help that we were born with lighter skin—so we do our best to assess what we see and know from our darker skinned friends. We are one human race, not different races and when we all accept that and treat each other accordingly—like Jesus wanted us to do—then it will just be the Dems and Repubs trying to get along. I am thrilled that the dark skinned Americans have this to look to as an inspiration—Pres Obama is certainly accomplished and a good family man. That I can admire.

These girls are beautiful and it’s obvious they are loved by two great parents. If we’re lucky, they’ll grow up to be Republicans! :-)

Obama Among 11 of Inauguration Celebration's Best Dressed (Photos)

They look absolutely fantastic—though the dress wasn’t my favorite either, Belinda. Let’s keep something in mind—most presidents/first ladies are not in their 40’s—so they have that going for them. I probably look better now than I will in my 50’s or 60’s. I mean not to rain on the parade or anything, but then I think that must be my calling for this site!
