My late brother had several hundred under his supervision, and he was obliged to close a bridge he considered dangerous.   In Russia, every bridge is tested annually under full design load with the responsible engineer standing under the bridge. The structural engineer for the World Trade Center acknowledged his designs responsibility for the progressive collapse even though the political decision to outlaw asbestos structural fireproofing during construction undoubtedly allowed the structural failure. Until I die and beyond I am responsible for any engineering failure an any job I designed. If politicians were as responsible as engineers, they would all die in poverty.

As an engineer with 55 years experience with energy conservation and pollution control experience, I would be a Palin fan even if she were as ugly as a democrat woman, ugly in spirit even if not equally in fact. In her resignation speech she paid service to the cause that brought  me to her side, available, affordable energy. When the government effectively rations our access to energy, we are converted to peons on the government plantation.
