I went to a private school from first through eigth grades because my mother didn’t feel comfortable sending me to the local public school. We didn’t have hardly any money while I was growing up and the kids at the private school lived in McMansions. I remember getting made fun of for wearing shoes from Kmart (the girls literally snickered at me). These were kids who didn’t understand the value of a dollar and had parents who bought them designer clothes and expensive toys—if the kid looked at it, the parents bought it.
I was hurt then by the way these kids were given everything because I had so little. But, nowadays it seems unfair for people to buy lavish things of any kind when some can’t even afford to eat.
It’s unfortunate that our society is build around this model that make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

Actually, it was Bush’s eight years in the office that brought debt to us, not Obama. If anything, Obama is trying to remedy an impossible economic situation brought on by an extremely moronic Bush. It’s going to take more than six months of hard work in the oval office to bring us out of financial death. In fact, it may take multiple terms for the problem to be fixed.
Considering what the Republicans did to this country, they have no right to criticize the current administration.

I completely agree! Jane Fonda is absolutely stunningly gorgeous, and Diane Sawyer is beyond radiant. Both of them look about 20 years younger than their actual age.
Anne Bancroft was Mrs. Robinson for a reason;)
Candice, you are incredibly attractive, too! I’m 100% positive Denny Crane agrees with me on that one:D
Lily Tomlin (aka Tommy Velour) Remembers Michael Jackson in Her Own Special Way (Video)
Watching Paris say goodbye to her father was heartbreaking. I couldn’t keep the tears from streaming down my face. It was quite a moving memorial service.
It’s when sudden losses like that of MIchael Jackson that I remember those performers and artists who mean the world to me: Lily, thank you for the laughter, you are a remarkable talent with the most insightful wisdom. Your comedy is a bright, shiny light that brings true happiness to millions of people. You truly are an amazing individual.
I’ve even had the pleasure of meeting with you a few times and I will forever cherish those moments. Keep the laughter and insight coming, Lily!

I’ve had mutliple people tell me to read The Face on Your Plate. I think if I end up reading that book I’ll inevitably become a vegan, or at least a vegetarian.
Jane Fonda’s My Life So Far is a really interesting, impressive read. I highly recommend it. Oh and anything by Augusten Burroughs. He’s witty, bold, often crass, but I adore his books.

Candice Bergen on Why She Loved Playing Murphy Brown
Candice, I would never think of you as being a push-over. Granted, I don’t know you, but from the characters you’ve played (I’m thinking mostly of Murphy and Shirley), you seem to be a rather strong woman, direct and confident.
Bullies are the worst, though, aren’t they? Ugh. I tried to tell myself that they picked on other because of how insecure they felt inside, but there are those few who I think were genuinely content with making others miserable.
