I know of Ann Coulter by reputation, which meant I did not feel like investigating her. Having heard some of her juiciest picks, I would not start now. However, I am not a conservative—I don’t subscribe to her viewpoints. She may occasionally be funny—the Bill Clinton quote was very un-PC and inaccurate but sort of funny, and while I don’t hold this against Obama, she’s absolutely right that his Senate election was greatly helped by the unsealing of his opponents’ divorce files. I don’t know if she’s any worse than Molly Ivins, who I wish were still around. When I read Molly, I find her witty and biting, but…I’m using this word again…classy. She has written columns where she praises some aspect of those she takes issue with. What she doesn’t have patience with is human idiocy, whatever side of the aisle it comes from. She was also a first-class writer in general. Once again, I’m not familiar enough with Coulter’s oevure (as Molly would say) to know if she is a good, solid writer, is funny beyond the searing turn of phrase, or if she does take time to occasionally re-evaluate her opinions and just doesn’t go along with a party line. My guess from what I’ve read here and heard elsewhere is not. I really miss Molly.

We all know that there are other ways of becoming famous besides making great cookies. As I said, she should do both. I would never consign a woman to the kitchen.The fact that she worked her way up from PTA mom to governer does speak to some tenacity and perhaps even talent. And I agree that it’s hard to focus on real issues when there are so many distractions. Therefore, we should stop discussing these issues. I hope Sarah Palin has a quiet, happy, uneventful life (that is, if she wants one) until she decides to move on with her career.

All right then, let’s talk about her doing her job, not her kids.

I’m sorry, I’m confused. Who are you referring too? Hopefully not to me. Wait…never mind, think I know. I’m just sick of Sarah Palin being in the news for no good reason, whether she’s picked on or given a Nobel Prize. I can understand why people would still be talking about Hillary (Sos-appointee) and Caroline is still a valid news item. For their political or possible political positions, I might add. And I even understand why people pick on both of them. But Sarah Palin? Wait until 2011, maybe 2010. Not now. Yes, she may be a threat to woman, but she’s not a current threat. Right now she’s up in Alaska where ostensibly she should be doing her job.

It makes sense…they’re both highly amusing, but in completely different ways.

I love reading these posts too for the same reason, but the world has more things in it than Sarah Palin. Right now, there is no legitimate reason to focus on her other than to, despite our reservations about her family, congratulate them for welcoming a new member.
