Whoopi Goldberg: Sarah Palin 'Is a Very Dangerous Woman'

ugh and hallelujah, whoopi. dangerous indeed.

Post-conventions, do you think it's going to be a tight race?

i sure hope not, but only time and media will tell…and more than i’d like to hear. aren’t we smarter than the same stuff repeated ad nauseum?

Did you take a vacation or stay-cation this summer?

we drove to ct on a fri, got my sons from their father who lives in ri on sat, visited with my family in ct who had not seen our baby girl, threw a dinner party for our NE friends at my brother’s house, and drove home on mon. it was great to see everyone, but vacation? definitely not, if it is meant to relax you.

Whoopi Goldberg on Barack Obama's Nomination

joining mugsy lovefest, here, take care of those lungs, woman! tough going. my son has asthma, and i have an allergy that goes anaphalatic. nothing’s worse than feeling like you can’t breathe. many health blessings your way.

Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

hhmmm, let me see, if the choice were zsa zsa gabor or lauren bacall? raquel welch or paris hilton? gerry ferraro or jerry falwell? hillary or what’s her face republican? hillary, oh wait, tried that already, so obama/biden for me. the best people for the job, not just a pretty face, thank you very much. and if she’s anti-pro-choice, what kind of woman is she in this day and age anyway? cheers, whoop!

Cloris Leachman, 82, to Strut Her Stuff on 'Dancing With the Stars'

i can’t wait!! i’m nearly half her age, but i have loooooved her since mtms, young frankenstein, high anxiety, and even her weird b turn on videotapes of schoolhouse rock i had for my sons in the 90’s. i can’t wait to see and hear what spontaneous acts come from one of my more fun heroines! 7 second delay at the ready, i’m sure!

Do you physically care for your parents?

not yet, but probably sooner than i want to anticipate. currently live with my mother-in-law, too, but she’s in relatively good health and is working on taking care of herself after double knee replacement thru daily exercise, etc. don’t know how i’ll deal with all three should it come to that within a few years. however, i am profoundly grateful that i do still have both of my parents on this side of the veil. mil and my husband and i take care of each other and kids, so it works out nicely, not too much burden for any of us.

An Update on Jenny the Elephant

haven’t been around much lately, so just saw this, i’ll do what i can, esp phone calls. thanks for other tips, all.

What is your favorite time of day?

used to be twilight, but with kids’ witching hour and dinner chaos, i’ve come to appreciate the beauty of any time of day: the particular quality of light, the hope of quiet, the promise of eternity in a moment.

How do you feel about school starting before Labor Day?

185 is the magic number for required school days, whether before or after labor day. i am all for after having spent most of my adult life working in public schools and having kids in them, one with special needs. i really dislike all the half days thrown in and referred to as fullfilling the 185 requirement. i also really dislike all the standard testing that has changed the focus of educating the whole child, and toward different learning styles, to one stamped measuring system for all types of learners to spit back out the prescribed info. this isn’t learning, this is rote mechanics. wasn’t that part of the reason for the huge rebellion of baby boomers - the cookie cutter education?

Lily Tomlin to the Rescue of a Special-Needs Elephant

got a lot of those, a little bit on all of them in due time….i’m seriously brick and mortaring different ones at the moment - working on a novel and finally had a baby girl at 42, 10 yrs after 2 boys!

The Whistle Blows on the Woman in the Edwards Case and It Isn't Who You Think

personally i don’t think any of us belong in their beds. do you want the whole world in yours? i don’t care if you’re ‘above reproach’ everyone is human, we all make mistakes, and men are horny. bfd. i just keep mine close to home.

Lily Tomlin to the Rescue of a Special-Needs Elephant

just sent email to dallas….i have a secret dream to work at the sanctuary in TN. have had it for years.

Should men open doors for women?

as well as women open them for men, and so forth and so on…. just open the door and let the person behind you through, then that person should acknowledge it with a thank you, and the16 people behind them should wait their turn to be polite, too, rather than barge through. i’m not a doorwoman, but i’ve known a few friendly doormen.
