My Comments (126 so far…)

What motivates you more: criticism or praise?

i think praise with a dash of constructive criticism because there is always room for improvement. my real motivation comes from within. it helps to have an external goal to complete projects in a timelier manner. i may hate a deadline, but if i don’t have one, i’ll never finish or have a sense of completion.

What is your favorite summer spectator sport?

i didn’t for years, then i got involved with the red sox. then i moved out of area, so i keep an eye on the website for when i can see them here. i always knew, once i started, i wouldn’t be able to stop. i was raised in tennis , but was never the player my family wanted me to be, so i bucked it. i would have liked to see yesterday’s match, if i were at all aware of it’s drama. probably better than the watching last night’s red sox-yankees game, though it was a gripping one, until… i remember sitting court side when i was about 14 for a stan smith-bjorn borg match at the us open that went on seemingly forever, but was as gripping as a sport can get, the ball never going out of play, rally after rally. i bet yesterday’s finals felt like that, the passing of the title from the expected champion to the upcomer.

The Silver Tsunami: Is Gray the New Power Hair Color for Women?

that was for emma, somehow it jumped later in thread…

The Silver Tsunami: Is Gray the New Power Hair Color for Women?

you will be eventually! and try googling emmylou harris pics over the years. very piecy chunks of dark and grey when it wasn’t a fashion accessory. i’d quit dying mine, but its a concession to my hubby only that i dye it now. in the past year i was growing it out, but he nicely asked me to go back, so i said i’d stay blonde if he stayed shaved! so far, it’s worked! i’ve been going grey since 17! never bothered me til 34. now i hate the upkeep of every 4 weeks..

Lie About Your Age, by Dr. Judith Sills

i meant goodlooking, to boot! LOL! although being good isn’t such a bad thing, either.

Lie About Your Age, by Dr. Judith Sills

i never lie about my age, i am a trumpeteer. i’ve been through enough to get here, why deny it? i’ve earned it. and still pretty good, to boot!

What Katharine Hepburn Taught Me About Life and Death

she’s beena hero of mine since i was very young. what an iconoclast! my admiration of her may explain why my mother- though we both loved the old movies and it was through them we found our only lasting bond - was never very fond of my “peculiar independence”.

Do you have a physical characteristic that sets you apart and that took you ages to love? Tell us about it.

well, okay, now i’ve heard quite a variety, i will come clean. at some point in my life, i have disliked nearly every feature of mine, from too short and too skinny to big toothy smile, to the chipmunk cheeks with giant dimples (remember the skinny mention? i was a twig with cheeks), to the “knock knee’d” twist of my right leg that makes me limp, to virtually every facial feature. this is what the media (and critical mothers) can do to us. thank goodness, i am so over it. and i love me FOR all my cockeyed qualities. they are what make me me. with all that mentioned, I also used to be mistaken for just about anyone else someone knew, and many “you look just like my little sister” comments were thrown my way in my youth. so now i appreciate what makes me an individual. and if it were completely up to me, i would let my premature grey frizz fly. however, hubby likes me blonde, so i keep him happy with that, while he keeps clean-shaven, most of the time, for me.

more of us out here than general public is aware. in my move from MA to VA, i may miss the snow, but i don’t miss 7mo winters of frigidity!

What is your favorite perfume? What do you associate with it?

thanks, eliz. from an env. sensitive folk ;) that’s how i wound down to single flower essences. mostly, it’s my lavender soap day to day, sometimes i pump it up a little w/an oil. all the fruity scents so popular now, with mango, coconut, apple, pear, whatever unfortunately send me to epipen use and a hospital visit pumped with steroids to open my throat….i wish i could

What is your favorite perfume? What do you associate with it?

oh, reading all those other perfumes takes me right to the period when i wore them. i love the impact of a single flower scent. and most oldest best friend still wears opium, which always smelled gorgeous on her and a bit heady on me , since we were 16!

What is your favorite perfume? What do you associate with it?

my goodness, over the course of my life, i’ve worn for a time, everything that’s been mentioned! these days, i am more a lavender oil girl, or sometimes jasmine, or gardenia or honeysuckle. mostly lavender, so clean and relaxing. i like essential oils, used to mix my own,,too. but for a real dress up occasion, or just to feel extra sexy with hubby at home, a little coco chanel goes a long way. perfumes as in everything in my life, the rule of thumb is variety is the spice of life ; go with what suits my mood.
