PRINCESS DIANA! Remember Her?

can we just recognize finally, with the way they are so out of hand now, that the extreme measures the paparazzi take to get a shot needs some serious quashing. why are they seemingly allowed to drive as recklessly as they do, oftentimes, specifically to get the terrible expressions on the faces of their targets! when there is a gathering of these mob packs, officials, police or whatever need to disband them, or they do take on mob mentality. how are the any different than an old lynch mob, a sports mob after a particular red sox playoff game, or the villagers with torches held in frankenstein’s face? why are there not better right to privacy laws? stand back and take the photos that are naturally occuring from a respectful distance rather than forced by the lenses of these vicious mobs.

What wakes you at 4 a.m.?

i’m 42, and very pregnant. the need to pee - again, and general discomfort or inability to simply roll over. sometimes it’s my 9 yr old who has autism and who has never slept more than 7 hours at a stretch in his life. but once i’m awake, my mind starts working out stuff of day to day or creatively.

Whoopi Goldberg to Dr. Laura: Are You Crazy? Don't Blame Eliot Spitzer's Wife

hey, if you go far back enough, to the temples of aphrodite, bathesheba, etc - going to the priestesses of the temples were a form of worshipping the goddess. when our ancient societies respected the feminine side of spirituality, there was not a perversion element to sensuality. only by casting out the feminine principal from religion (father son and holy what?) and perverting perceptions of what feminity is, ie: not power, but weakness meant to be over powered, do we have the problems of sexuality across societies that we have today, from female genitial mutilation is some cultures, to rape, date rape, flashings of britney parts, the acceptance of “ho-s” as an ok term for a rapper or a igh schooler, and so much more. Spitzer’s , among other men’s problems with desensualizing religious and spiritual views is that it demonizes some women, virginizes other, and the twain shall never meet. therefore we get all this secrecy and shame around sexuality and aroud women. out of this de-feminized spirituality of the major western religions comes the dichotomy. remember, it was a bunch of old men only whose approval of the major books bible, torah, koran were allowed. how many versions have twisted the original intents of the religions? right thru guttenberg and king james widely accepted versions of first mass printed bibles. ever since men wanted to overturned the matrilineal societies, we’ve have problems. the great mystery of childbirth was so powerful to the early men, that they decided they had to overpower us. it ain’t penis envy, dudes, it’s womb envy that’s at the heart of all your troubles, you like to blame us for! and look, it’s been so long, so many of us hop on that bandwagon, eh, dr. laura?

Which four women would you like to see on Mt. Rushmore?

personally i’d like to see it returned to it’s natural grandeur as the holy mountain of the local native people. amazing sculpture as it is, it was scooped in vanity by much the same means as everthing else from the original peoples. i know this was an exercise in recognizing great women in a fun way, but i can’t help but think of this enormous injustice. i’d like to see the young local native people who repel down to pee on the giant presidential noses up there. or maybe their mothers and grandmothers who have persisted in strength for generations as their population dwindles in poverty on reservations with inadequate medical care, employment opportunity, imposed cultural alcohol dependency, etc.

Ruminating in the Aftermath

it’s an oldie but a goodie - he who points a finger so much at something away from them, is pointing 3 back at himself. larry craig, spitzer, all these vehement accusers and morality keepers end up falling by what they claim to hate, b/c they hate what they see of it in themselves. i wonder, having daughters himself, if he ever thought of the prostitutes as someone’s daughters?

“Valentine’s Day is About Paying Attention to Each Other”

many years ago, as a college student, i recall working delivering flowers in westport, ct and handing an enormous bouquet of roses to ms. thomas from mr. donahue. i believe you were actually housesitting at wayne rogers’ house (funny what memory comes back with, eh?). anyway, the enthusiam and appreciation of your relationship expressed over 20 years later here, was evident then, as you looked so genuinely surprised and appreciative of the gesture he made. it was a beautiful bouquet, but even as you said that, i could see in your eyes, it wasn’t about the bouquet. may we all be so lucky to be in such a relationship as you and mr. donahue have maintained the joy of, in such a simple manner. gifts don’t need to be expensive, my husband and i do little things like show up from a grocery run with a special little treat we know the other would enjoy. sometimes, just a spontaneous jump into the arms or pinch on the butt as we pass each other in the kitchen works, too. just a quick, hey, i know you’re here, and i love you.
