My Comments (13 so far…)

Bad Hair: A Photo Tribute to the Worst Hairstyles of the 1970s

I thought the models were equally disturbing, but there are no words for the hair.

In fairness there are a couple of the men’s styles you’ll see still in Southern Baptist churches.

I’ll change my profile picture to how I wore my hair in the 70s, long, straight, and parted in the middle… just like everyone else! LOL!

NY Times Calls Them Hoovervilles ... Isn't It Time For A New Name? (Reader Forum)

I feel badly saying this but how about something after Barbara Bush’s comments about the Katrina victims who fled to Houston and stayed at the Astrodome? Millievilles, maybe… ?

Action! If you wrote and directed a film, which genre would it be?

Something along the lines of “Little Miss Sunshine” or “Gosford Park.” But “The Awful Truth” is one of my all-time favorites and something I would aspire to!

We could all use some comic relief. Make us laugh! What's the best joke you've ever heard?

I like the one Jim Lehrer tells on PBS about two cannibals eating a clown and one cannibal says to the other, “Does something taste funny to you?”

HerTube: Art Appreciation With French and Saunders

I hope you enjoyed the clip, everyone! Watching Dawn French and Helen Mirren go at it always sends me into hysterics. Also, if you haven’t seen it already, “Clatterford” features Saunders, French, Lumley, and many extremely talented others in a “drama-dy” set in rural England.

HerTube: Art Appreciation With French and Saunders

I worship the ground that Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French walk on. One of my favorite F & S sketches is the “master class” with Helen Mirren. It’s here: http://www.myspace.com/heirguitar Jane

Whoopi: 'Ma, Don't Freak Out. But, Yes, This Is Marlon Brando'

My friend, who was a casting director in L.A., is the one with the stories. I’ll try to get her to post. In the meantime I’ll tell the cleaned-up version of her Brando-Nicholson story. Seems there was a party at Jack’s house and she was outside getting some air when she heard this bellowing at the foot of the driveway. It was Marlon. He thought the party was too loud. Jack was in no mood to quiet things down and told Marlon this in a variety of ways including as Stanley Kowalski. My friend was simply amazed and amused. Peter Sellers hosted my friend’s 25th birthday party and among the invited guests were Bette Midler and Candice Bergen. The birthday gift from Candice Bergen, a coffee cup that says “Candy” on it, is still on display in her kitchen. :-)

When did you start feeling comfortable in your own skin?

In all honesty, my “comfort” will stick around for years and then disappear for years. I go through awkward “ugly duckling” stages and then, somehow, get right again, but it’s really quite painful and embarrassing…

Confessions of a Couch Potato

I am incessantly mocked by my friends for my devotion to TCM. They don’t understand that falling asleep to “Vertigo” (I can because I’ve seen it 50 times) and waking up to “The Pirate” (ditto) is almost heaven to me. Perhaps someone will develop the concept of television viewing as meditation or the spiritual benefits of the Dish for those who feel guilty, but I know I won’t be in need of counsel. My viewing habits bring me personal happiness, as ridiculous as they may appear to others.

Diane von Furstenberg: 'Fear is Not an Option'

Macs rule. :-) Loved the interview.

Political Gossip I've Never Published

It’s a kick to know I may have gotten an “Atta girl!” from Governor Richards with my vote in 2006. Thank you for the anecdote.

Which four women would you like to see on Mt. Rushmore?

Eleanor Roosevelt, Katharine Hepburn, Rosa Parks, and Lucille Ball.
