Jane Wagner Pays Homage to the Best Short Story Writers

Dear Jane

Thanks for mentioning Italo Calvino my all time short story fave. I just swoon over his CosmicComics! Every time I re-read it, it just blows me away a little bit more such awesome creativity. Have you read and been blown away by it as well? Cheers From Toronto

Aside from your own, of course, who is your favorite 'Mother'?

I see Pat already read my mind by listing Mother Teresa! Also, Gaia (I refer that over "Mother Nature" as its a little less Androcentric/Patriarchal). Here’s to all the Mom’s all there, Three big Cheers woohoo!!!

Who is the most famous person you've ever met? What were the circumstances?

Good Evening All! I had the great pleasure of meeting Laura Nyro behind a dinner theatre on her tourbus on my birthday. The year was 1988 and Laura had just come back from a long hiatus and the occassion was the beginning of a comeback tour in Massuchussetts. I drove in from Toronto for the event as she was and will always be my idol. She autographed some memorabilia for me. Laura was very gracious, generous and very kind-hearted~just like her music is. I will never forget that birthday!

Lily on the Tony Experience

Here! Here! Here’s to Lily And Jane! A toast all around! Cheers, Susan

'How Lily and I Tried to Celebrate July the 4th'

Hi Mugsy So very sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved Familar. Nothing worse is than that. My deepest sympathy to you during these hardest of times. I always enjoy and look forward your witty posts here. Blessed Be Dear Goddess of the Cats, take care & love from Canada, Susan

'How Lily and I Tried to Celebrate July the 4th'

I was wondering that too! I figured ATB to mean “All The Best”? Lily did I get it? Cheers From Canada, Susan

Lily Tomlin: My Tony Awards Home Video

Thank you very much for doing this for us WOWERS. I just loved you in the towel in the special behind the scenes peek. Your adorable. You always have such amazing energy and that smile!!! It is always such a real pleasure to see you. It was like a mini-reality show! All I can say is… LILY FOR PRESIDENT!!!

If you had a genie in a bottle, what three wishes would you make?

1. To end all forms of pollution 2. So that cancer will be cured 3. Enough food, money, shelter and clean water for everyone. Also, everyone gets a massage everyday for the rest of their lives.

Candice Bergen: I May Be Moody, But I'm Not Sick

Hi Mugsy! You are right on the money yet again! Would it not be wonderful to have Dr. Caldicott come by as a special friend stopped by or in some other way to join us here at WOW? Dr. Caldicott is right up there along with Rachel Carson as my environmental She-roes. Thanks for bringing Dr. Caldicott’s voice into the awesome discourse here at WOW. Always enjoy your posts termendously, always much new to learn (which is a good thing)!!! Cheers From Canada, Susan

Lily Tomlin: 'People Would Look at Me ... Horror-Stricken'

Dear Ms. Tomlin, If I may be so brazen to suggest…was it Charles Nelson Reilly that you took acting lessons from in the early days? The late Reilly was also a very highly respected acting coach. Love, Phoeneesha The Second

Happy Birthday to wOw! Plus a New Contributor and a New Design

Happy Birthday WOW!!! WOW three months old so far WOW! I find the home page confusing and cluttered in a sensory overload kind of way. The advertising is way too much and way heavy (takes up way to much room at the top in multiple sections) at the top of the page. In a perfect world I’d like to see the ads at the bottom of the page or better yet none at all…after all, who can afford the advertisers stuff in this economy anyways? Not your average sister thats for sure…and yep were feeling the pinch here in Canada too. I wish the site were better organized starting from the first page on. Its hard to orientate oneself around this new one after such a clear and simple predecessor. Perhaps don’t fix what was’nt broke? The few bells and whistles now added could have been added onto the old site. I don’t feel we outgrew the old site it was still beta after all. I was used to it and it was comfortable and familiar to me it was a pleasure to visit. Like the other WOWer said, prove to me this version is better! I have to be honest. Its not working for me, I don’t know where to go first on the home page as its all screaming for my attention and its making me dizzy. Lumping all of our posts under our identities is good thing. Trying to be truthful and critique these big changes in a non-negative way. Keep on keeping on, here’s to WOW!

Counter-Intuition and Other Mother Earth Care-toons by Jane Wagner

Lily Tomlin: When the 'Murphy Brown' Show Ended, I Cried My Eyes Out

Yes! Yes! Yes! Or maybe both will be played out on Broadway in a grande series of Wagnerian Operatic story cycles installments…
