My Comments (57 so far…)

Are you for or against allowing consumers to buy health-care insurance across state lines? (Why or why not?)

Only if there are reasonable, affordable provisions for people who get rejected by the for profit insurance companies (like me) as well as provisions for forcing the insurance companies to follow through on the promised coverage.

I have fibromyalgia and have been rejected coverage by several for profit insurance companies. My only option would have been to file for SSI disability, since I make too much money to qualify for public assistance. I chose not to do so as I am not fully disabled, I am able to work, I just cannot afford to have a $15000 deductible with a $1500 monthly premium which would have been all I could get from the SCHIP programs.

Blessedly, my husband found a job with a company that offers coverage to all employees and dependants, so I now have insurance instead of having to choose between disability and bankruptcy due to medical bills.

If you have never been denied coverage, you don’t understand how traumatizing it can be to have to choose between food on the table and medical care.

The Face of Invisible Illness

Ashley, I really hope to see more of your blog. Living with fibromyalgia, chronic migraines, and early onset osteoarthritis, I understand some of what you are going through. Even my own family doesn’t get it that I can "look" great and feel terrible. After 10+ years of it, my husband is finally starting to ask how I feel instead of assuming I’m fine. Good luck!

Are you willing to accept more gov't regulation and fewer choices in health care to cut costs and provide insurance for all?

Yes! I am unable to get private health insurance due to my medical history. I know there is a pool available in my state to insure un-insurable people, but the premiums and deductible are prohibitively expensive. If I didn’t have coverage through my husband’s employer, I would have to file for disability and get Medicare simply to cover my regular medical expenses. I was uninsured for 3 years, and it was awful! There are too many people in this country living on the edge of disaster, waiting for one accident or illness to throw them into crisis.

Dear Margo: No One Would Call This 'Romantic'

Beth, I agree 100%. Many men are different kinds of thinkers than we are. I am married to a computer programmer/engineer. He makes list of things that to me seem really strange, but that is his way or organizing his thoughts. I find that I have to talk to him with an open mind and understand that he doesn’t mean to offend me. If I tell him I was hurt or offended by something he said, we talk it out and find I misunderstood, or he mis-spoke. We did move in together after dating for several months with the understanding that if we did not decide to marry within a year, he would move out. That was HIS suggestion. We were engaged after about 10 months and have been married for almost 19 years.

Tattoo Barbie: Barbie's Midlife Crisis? (Photos)

I have 2 tattoos that are over 20 years old. I have never regretted them. I have them both in places that can be covered, and generally are. I would never get a man’s name on my body, unless it was my son or grandson. I consider my tats to be comparable to my pierced ears. Just FYI, I worked for over 20 years in the financial service industry, wearing suits and being very professional, not trampy in the least!

Lesley Stahl Asks: Has Public Outrage on Excess Reached 'Tipping Point'?

You got it right. Apparently they are called trolls, according to my techie hubbie. PLEASE Ladies, don’t leave! Although I don’t post often, I really truly enjoy reading your posts. They are always well written and informative. Maybe if we ignore the trolls they’ll go away.

Michelle Obama's mother now lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Would you welcome a parent or in-law to live with you?

I’ve been on both ends of this, and I loved it! Moved in with my mother when times were hard, and my husband went to school. The kids ended up with a terrific relationship with their grandmother. Also, while my son was deployed, both times, his wife and son lived with us. Again, I loved it. I have a wonderful relationship with my daughter-in-law, and my grandson is terrific. I would happily have them all move back in any time they need to. By the way, I don’t have a huge house, but I do have 4 bedrooms, and room enough for all of them. I do think that if we set ground rules in advance, I would even happily have my mother-in-law or father-in-law move in.

Sarah Palin Attacks Press Over Bristol Baby Rumors

While I disagree with lots of Gov. Palin’s politics, I definitely agree that the speculation of Trig’s parentage is out of line.

First Lady Martha Washington Stunning at 25 (Image)

Patty, I’m still surprised when I look in the mirror. I don’t feel older on the inside! I’ve thought about removing my mirrors. LOL

First Lady Michelle Obama Focuses on Working Families, Education

I am glad of her focus on “working families”. One thing that really impressed me during the campaign was her focus on military families, and the fact that she listened more than spoke at meetings with military wives.

Tax Woes Force Nancy Killefer From Obama Team

Regular workers have tax problems as well. I’m a regular worker, and have received correspondence from the IRS in the past that we made on error on our taxes and owed money. One of my husband’s employers screwed up his W2. We should have verified the total income prior to submitting the return, but we made a mistake. My Soldier son received notice from a state he lived in that he failed to file a tax return there. It was an error on the part of the income tax preparer, who told him he did not need to file there.

TV Star Kate Gosselin Says Octuplet Mother Nadya Suleman Went too Far

I was a single mother with 1, and that was hard enough. I stopped having children after having 2, and I still firmly believe that was enough.
