Deja vu.  As a teenager, whenever someone said ‘You can’t do that’ or ‘Girls can’t do that’ my answer was always ‘Why not?’  Spent a lot of time asking ‘Why not?’  I’ll be sixty next year.  At least we don’t have to waste as much time on it as we used to.  Of course women can serve in the military in any capacity they choose.  Full disclosure - I’m Canadian, and our military allows women to serve in combat roles.

I’m suggesting that a responsible news organization would not want to be giving credence to something that, in my view has been proven to be untrue.  It’s not a conservative ‘point of view’, it’s not supported by facts.  Nothing is stopping any individual or news organization with no journalistic ethics from saying anything they choose.  Such is the nature of free speech and freedom of the press.  This is the first time I’ve ever noticed CNN giving air time to a fabricated non-issue as if it was true, and I am unimpressed.

Thanks for the clarification.  So use of Plan B is not included in abortion statistics, but RU486, would be…  To be clear, I am pro-choice (not pro-abortion). If the public policy objective is reduce the number of abortions by reducing the need for abortion (no personal quarrel with that), then it is important to understand what the measurement standard is and what the trends are.

For what it’s worth, if I thought about it at all I tend to view the ‘morning-after pill’ as late stage contraception, rather than early abortion. In published statistics on abortion, are pharmaceutically induced (non-surgical) abortions included? 

If this were true,I find it very hard to believe that there wouldn’t have been some inkling picked up and spread by the press before now.  It’s not completely inconceivable that it happened, but highly unlikely to have remained hidden all this time if it did.

I wear MAC, mostly….  except for the old standby, Maybelline Fabulash mascara.  At times like this, I permit myself small luxuries, and worry about the big stuff.  It is possible to be penny wise and pound foolish.

Although it’s very public, this seems to be the beginning of a very sad cycle before Rhianna realizes the abuse isn’t going to stop.  I admit my cynicism… I don’t think Chris Brown is the exception to the norm, and that he will learn his lesson and shape up.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way.  But they are very young to have to be role models in this very old pattern, and I don’t blame them for their choices.
