Could Mammograms Fall Victim to Obamacare? by Liz Peek

Again you have this misconception that government care will cover everything with no limits!!!!

Insurance companies ration what they will pay for..you can have any proceedure you and your doctor want.  You just have to pay for it yourself!  If you want more you will pay more just like any insurance,  If the government runs everything..you will ONLY get what the government wants you to!

read the bill Starry!!!!

Tort reform has been successful in other states.

You should be able to buy the insurance that meets your need not what your state legislature decides you need.

Cancer is alot more than "unpleasant"!!!!  I will put up with it to catch any hint of cancer which increases my sruvival rate dramatically!!    It is said to be because many woman have false positive results which leads their doctors to order more tests to verify what might lead to it.  In a nut shell..doctors covering their butts in fear of lawsuits!

I have fibrocystic tissue and at 40 they followed up with a ultra sound to look for hidden lumps.  It gave them a baseline to compare to each year after and have not required once since.

If doctors are ordering additional testing each year without reasons that may indicate a waste of money…but to change the rules to fix this is ridicuous.

As with most tests if they indicate it done every two years..many will wait four and by the time a tumor is caught it may be to late for treatment.  Is that cheaper in the long run????  Maybe but more deadly!!!

Palinophobes Hate First, Ask Questions LaterBy Jonah Goldberg

Slate magazine is just one of the countless media outlets convulsing with St. Vitus’ Dance over that demonic succubus Sarah Palin. In its reader forum, The Fray, one supposed Palinophobe took dead aim at the former Alaska governor’s writing chops, excerpting the following sentence from her book:

"The apartment was small, with slanting floors and irregular heat and a buzzer downstairs that didn’t work, so that visitors had to call ahead from a pay phone at the corner gas station, where a black Doberman the size of a wolf paced through the night in vigilant patrol, its jaws clamped around an empty beer bottle."

Other readers pounced like wolf-sized Dobermans on an intruder. One guffawed, "That sentence by Sarah Palin could be entered into the annual Bulwer-Lytton bad writing contest. It could have a chance at winning a (sic) honorable mention, at any rate."

But soon, the original contributor confessed: "I probably should have mentioned that the sentence quoted above was not written by Sarah Palin. It’s taken from the first paragraph of ‘Dreams From My Father,’ written by Barack Obama."

The ruse should have been allowed to fester longer, but the point was made nonetheless: Some people hate Palin first and ask questions later.

another Plain complaint bites the dust…..

Palin race sponsorship disclosure OK, says APOC

Members of the Alaska Public Offices Commission unanimously ruled Thursday that Sarah Palin has sufficiently disclosed the Arctic Cat sponsorship her husband, Todd, received for the Iron Dog snowmachine race.

The commissioners accepted the filings with no discussion. At their September meeting, they’d asked their staff to find out the worth of Todd Palin’s 2008 sponsorships. The Palin family’s lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, responded to the APOC in an October letter that Arctic Cat itself paid no fee. The sponsorship fees Palin and his partner, Scott Davis, did receive "went to the team through Scott Davis for racing expenditures," according to Van Flein. He listed amounts ranging from $2,500 from Alaska Pacific Leasing to $500 from Debenham Investments.

I do not understand why you object to the use of "I"..as everyone here speaks for themselves!!!  Do you think you speak for

others?

Interesting that Hillary actually wants to have coffee with her.  Bet they could share some experiences with sexist issues.

I get a card every year from my mamography center reminding me it is time to make my annual appointment.  I make it and also call me gynocologist office to schedule an appointment with them about 10-14 days later so the results will be in and can be discussed in one visit.  Of course since insurance only pays once a year  the most difficult part is scheduling both at least one day later than the prior year.

The plane became a point of ridicule against ex-Gov. Murkowski.

Editor’s note: This story was originally published December 13, 2006

With an eBay account and about $2.5 million, you too can fly in the state jet that cost former Gov. Frank Murkowski so much political pain in his failed re-election campaign.

Gov. Sarah Palin announced Tuesday that she plans to sell the Westwind II online to the highest bidder.

Murkowski bought the jet over the objections of the Legislature. Before leaving office earlier this month, he regularly used it to travel around the state, sharing it with the Department of Public Safety.

While running against Murkowski, Palin promised to "get rid" of the aircraft. If eBay doesn’t work, the state will try something else, she said Tuesday.

As for the Public Safety Department, which uses the Westwind II to transport prisoners out of state, Palin said she’s asking the department to tell her what kind of aircraft would suit it best, and she will look for an OK from lawmakers to provide it.

"This is big enough and symbolic enough of an item that the Legislature should have their say," she said.

But in a phone interview days before he left office, Murkowski said selling the jet was a bad idea. The jet is fast and safe, and replacing it would be a step backward — like using a typewriter when you already have a computer, he said.

Palin said the Public Safety Department needs an aircraft that’s more versatile then the Westwind II and that can land on more runways around rural Alaska.

She said she’ll get around the far-flung state the same way previous governors have — on commercial flights, and in the state’s old King Air propeller planes, like the one she used to fly from Anchorage to Fairbanks on Tuesday.

Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton said that because the Legislature wouldn’t approve money for the jet, the Murkowski administration bought it the way you might buy a car — making regular payments over 15 years while paying no money down.

The state makes quarterly payments of $62,492.79 on the jet, she said. After the payment due Friday, Alaska will still owe $2,516,386.06.

The state’s chief procurement officer, Vern Jones, said it’s not usual for Alaska to sell big-ticket items on eBay because the site is cheap and has a big audience.

It cost the state a few hundred dollars to sell an old state ferry, The Bartlett, for $389,500 in 2003, he said. "They got more for that then they expected."

Tuesday night, the state was auctioning 38 items on the site, including three aircraft — two Super Cubs and a Cessna. Two of the planes have already reached the minimum bids set by the state, meaning Jones expects them to sell for sure.

Other items for sale included two sets of used helicopter floats ($300) and King Air exhaust stacks ($500). In the "feedback" section, someone had written: "Great Seller — Great State — Great People."

As of Tuesday night, the jet was not yet listed.

So who would buy a $2.5 million jet from the state of Alaska?

Jones didn’t want to speculate. He was going to say "rich guys," he said, "but that sounds kind of obvious."

One warning to the jet’s potential buyers: Murkowski said in the interview before he left office that despite all the fuss, it’s actually not that comfortable.

"You can’t stand up in it," he said, and the bathroom is basically a port-a-potty. "You dare not use it."
