LR—That was my thought when reading the piece….and much will come out in the trial. The prosecution will paint one picture, and defense another. Although when his own sons have disowned him, relatives are changing their last name, and so many have lost big, coming up with a defense is going to be a real trick. I wouldn’t be surprised if he and his wife ‘opt out’ after stretching it out as long as possible.

Or better, hire a cleaning service and sign a contract…then it’s THEIR problem to take care of taxes, insurance, disability etc.

Lorraine, I so agree with you. In transitional times there are huge opportunities but not for those blinded with ‘woe is me’ and ‘this is impossible’ ‘we’ve just got to hang on and survive’ mentality. It is rough for many, but this is a country built by pioneers. My ‘thrive in turmoil’ philosophy: Make the destination/dream the biggest thing in your mind. Make a roadmap to get there. Jettison anything that slows you down. Drive towards it as if your life depends upon it. Go around any roadblocks. And BTW watch Oprah today. I saw an advertisment that she was having the ‘stingiest’ family or something like that show how they live well on little.

He exisited in a context of ‘greed is good’ and ‘welcome to the rat-f*ck’. No different that Sandy Weil and Ken Lay and all the other ‘smartest guys is the room’ robber barons. Some get away with it, take some of their stolen loot and build a hospital wing or donate millions to a university and by that calculated largess feel their crimes are vindicated, or were even noble. ‘Let the buyer beware.’ It was the ‘losers’ fault—they meant well. That is the complex attitude. I’ve seen it plenty before in institutions and individuals. And it isn’t like that isn’t the dark side of America. Bush Inc was one giant daylight crime spree. They can exist because so many Americans are naive.

The State of California should SUE the doctors. We should not be paying for their irresponsible behavior of proceeding with invitro on a single mother with 6 other small children and no job.

EKA, In the ABC link Belinda posted the ‘mother’ who apparently has mistaken herself for a cat…..says she is ‘getting paid for it.’ Well, great. The State of California should sue the doctors for any aide this woman applies for. And the State Medical Examiners Board should be reviewing this case.

Belinda, I agree. This story is revolting, insane, disgusting, dysfunctional and just plain nuts. Fourteen children under seven and a mother with no sense, no job, no husband, and broke parents. She may be getting a graduate degree [supposedly] but obviously it isn’t in economics or math.

Maybe Obama should too. I’ve heard her speak in person and really impressive. Plus she used to be a Republican so I feel that she really looks at all sides, and does her homework…..like going to Davos and interviewing the players. I don’t think that the administration should steamroll something through despite the need for solutions. The bankers need to be brought before Congress and B*tch Slapped into another reality.
