Candice Bergen's Warning for Barack Obama

I agree - labradoodle! I love my doodle.

'Miracle Flight' Had Problems Two Days Prior to Splash Landing

I take 6-8 flights a month and - knock wood - never had an emergency situation while in the air. But I always look at the plate mounted in the doorway when I board a plane, because it shows the date the plane was built. It makes me nervous if the plane is more than 10 years old, I must say.

Inauguration 2009 by Lesley Stahl

Today I used technology to watch President Obama take the oath of office, and discuss this day with my relatives all over the US and the world. We could have not been together on this glorious day without the technology.

Obama to Reverse Bush's Abortion Policy, Say Sources

ABC just reported that it won’t be today, unfortunately.

Obama to Reverse Bush's Abortion Policy, Say Sources

Add federal stem cell research money, and we’re back on the right path.

The Daily Deed

As a former foster mom, I donate my no-longer-needed suitcases and duffle bags to Suitcases for Kids, which gives foster kids a suitcase to carry their things in. Believe it or not, most foster kids move four times, and have to carry their clothes from home to home in a black trash bag. Every kid deserves to have their things treated with dignity, especially when, for foster kids, their things are the only stable things they have. Visit www.suitcasesforkids.org for more info!

The Daily Deed

Simple things: ** bring in your neighbor’s trash cans when you bring in yours ** Let someone in who’s trying to merge in traffic ** Take your change jar to the store and donate it via the Coinstar machine ** Use GoodSearch as your Internet search engine ** Shovel the sidewalk, not just the driveway

wowOwow Cartoon of the Week: Forever Term

I hope we all remember how we feel today - full of hope and joy - in 100 days when we still have a bad economy, high unemployment, and global warming. It took years to make this mess - it will take years to undo it.

Margo Howard: Cindy McCain Should Dump the 'Old Goat'

Hey, if Cindy McCain wants to hang out with John and take his crap, let her. She’s a big girl.

'Christina's World' Painter Andrew Wyeth Dead at 91

I saw Christina’s World at, hmmm… the MOMA I think?…. when I was eight years old. I spent all my allowance on a poster of it, and it has hung in my bedroom since that very day - in my childhood room, in my dorm in college, in my first apartment, and over my bed now, that same poster.

I’m sorry to say that Rosie, our chocolate lab in the slideshow, was diagnosed with lymphoma last week. The vet doesn’t expect her to be with us more than a few months longer. :-(

Susan Sarandon, Glenn Close and Other 40+ Women Who Shined at the Globes

I thought Glenn Close looked fabulous. I don’t know why some of the tabloid-y sites are saying she “missed” on the red carpet. Renee Zelweiger, on the other hand, looked like she’d just rolled out of bed, and not in a good way. That dress was a disaster.

Liz Smith: Anne Hathaway as Holly Golightly? Bruce and Cybill 'Moonlighting'? Stiller and Wahlberg – Joining Forces?

Anne Hathaway would make an excellent Holly Golightly. She is a movie star, in the classic, old Hollywood sense of the word.

'When I grow up ... ' When did you decide upon your career?

Me either. For some of us, the journey never ends!
