I say this more often then I probably should - from my favorite book, The Color Purple: “White folks is a miracle of affliction.” Usually said after someone gives me and my daughter that twisted, can’t-do-the-math look.

We do too…when my teens come in and say, “Mom, I have a question, ” I usually reply, “42,” before they even take a breath. It’s a family joke.

Another interesting little article was the interview with President and Mrs. Bush in People last week. President Bush said the most anxious time he ever had in 8 years of being President was when he had to throw out the first pitch at the World Series. I think that says it all….

This is why we need more than abstinence-only sex education in schools.

I agree - being a Kennedy does not a good politician make, necessarily. But neither does being a Cuomo. A lawyer elected as state’s Attorney General is about as shallow a step into politics one can make.

I echo the other “root” sentiments. Seems they show up faster and faster these days.

Marsha, I read your comment this way: You may not like what she has to say but she does have the right to say it. Just like all of you have a right to state your views. The rudeness that ANN COULTER exhibit towards others on EVERY MEDIA OUTLET is unbearable at times. I found this site before it went live and thought it was going to be an informative and interesting place to read what other women think but the scathing comments and replies that ANN COULTER posts have caused me to rarely check in and see what’s up. If ANN COULTER were having face to face conversations about these “issues” would ANN COULTER resort to the same name calling and lack of open-mindedness that SHE DOES EVERYWHERE? I don’t watch TV news, I don’t read the local newspaper because it contains nothing of any substance so I don’t consider myself really informed on issues but I do listen to NPR, which ANN COULTER probably thinks is slanted and biased. Reading ANN COULTER’S intolerant comments helps me to realize why our country, and the world, is in the state that it’s in. Amazing how it fits, isn’t it?

I used to live within spitting distance of the Wild Animal Park in Escondido, and that safari is a day to remember, especially for those of us that can’t afford the real thing in Africa, no matter how the economy is. ;-)

Molly Ivins could write, and she had personality in her writing. She called it like she saw it, without the venomous hate speech. And, she was an equal opportunity barb-thrower (if that’s a word).
