Before any other considerations Obama ought to be told that Roe vs Wade is law and hard fought. For Democrats to use this as a wedge issue is entirely unacceptable.   Pelosi and Obama have caved.

I appreciate you good will, but there is no factual merit to your rationalization as the  Stupak Amendment is a slap in the face to woman’s dignity,self respect, self worth, and equal protection under the law. Roe vs Wade provides under the constitution that these rights are ours. For a political party to undercut,debase,and play poker with so serious an issue is astoundingly ruthless and hypocrittical.  And blind.

Obama’s lust for healthcare is a shell game to get him re elected. So far he’s promised BigPharma that no federal bargaining for drugs will occur for bigdrugs, and they are coughing up $80billion over 10 years. This is a bargain for  the drug monoply as last year they profited by $77 billion, so this is quite a deal they got [in the dark] from Obama.Now, Mr. Humanity decides it’s ok to wipe out decades of our struggles, but he wants us to feel fpor African American struggles?  We have been rolled over and humiliated by Stupak ,Pelosi,and most of our Party leadership.

Seniors have Medicare RX’s "Doughnut Hole " that won’t be dealt with until 2019? Is Obama kidding? What insult.

We women will start to fight again and a Pox on this atrocious bill.  We will target all that voted for it and we will mobilize to make this spineless bunch understand that their behavior is deceitful and immoral.  They will be voted out as they voted for this out of fear of not being re elected.  We will make sure of that.   This is known as the suicide Democrats have continued to march on their death walks.

Tracy, I’m with you.  Imagine a so called progressive party whose core constituents are women who struggled for decades for self derermination, equal protection, and pro-choice??  There is going to be one helluva revolution with Democrats who voted for the Stupak Amendment that makes it impossible for a woman to have an abortion for any reason unless she is wealthy and connected.  Imagine trading AWAY  Roe vs Wade to pass an already highly compromised and flawed bill?

Catholic Pelosi,the Bishops, and   cathlic anti-choiceStupak all got the go ahead from Obama to throw women under the bus.  How dare they? We are already mobiliizing huge efforts agsinst passage of anything this draconian.

The Senior’s Doughnut Hole won’t be closed until 1019? He’s kidding. Roe vs Wade??  Just overturn it to get ANY healthcare bill thru in order to be re-elected?

Your lack of information about this bill is shocking……but that’s why we’ve been rolled.  No info from anyone unless they access the bill and read it themselves. Obama hiding in the wings getting political cover.  Stealth treachery combined with his PR and lack of factual info will probably prevail, but women are already mobilizing one helluva fight…..and we are progressives.

I am a Democrat who agrees with you. His backroom drug deal and this flawed healthcare bill that permits anti choice to reverse Roe vs Wade is pure hypocricy.  Obama is a disaster.  No job creation. No experience, and dishonest with his supporters core beliefs.  He’s rolled them over an accomplished Jack.

He’s doing better? Obama and Pelosi just allowed and made a deal re: the Stupak Amendment  to ram this flawed healthcare bill through at the expense of women’s right to choose. Stupak makes Roe Vs Wade just about revoked. Abortions will not get federal funding and even if privately paid for are disallowed. This stealth attack on womens hard fought rights was voted on by all but 20 odd congressmen/women.  Obama has already dealt away our right to negotiate wholesale drug prices through federal funding as he has made a backroom deal with Big Pharma to accept $80billion over 10 yrs from bigPharma. Last year drug companies made $77billion in profits, so this non  deal is a giveaway. I voted for Obama but he has been treacherous regarding the Drug deal. and now at the last minute he allowed catholic conservative democrat Stupak to hi jack the bill in order to pass it by disallowing abortion.  Obama has betrayed women and has betrayed seniors [The doughnut hole in Medicare won’t be closed until 1019??]  Is he kidding?  Now in order to deliver a very flawed bill he was willing to ram Pelosi and other democrats into voting  anti choice and make it virtually impossible for a woman to have an abortion even if she wants to pay for it.  There will be a huge backlash that has started already with Planned Parenthood, NOW, and many other groups.

 I will do everything I can along with my many friends to defeat thease efforts to derail decades of womens struggles for equality.  Hillary not only would have been better, she has guts, experience and political clout. Obama is an amateur run by Chicago Rasputins who has weakly hid in the sidelines on healthcare as he got political cover and made few statements.

 Obama is a sellout who has rolled us over. He currently represents those who will pay for his re-election campaign.

Appalled?  Really?  I mean really? Albright,Amnapour, and many women have worn headscarves as a gesture of respect to the customs of a country.  Since she is Sec’y of State, diplomacy and respect are primary, & this is not unusual.

Joan Cooney would have made a dreadful Sec’y of State, so thank God she isn’t.  

 In order to even begin a meaningful discussion in any country it’s mandatory to respect customs both cultural,political, and religious.

Maria’s hair detracts from her marvelous personna. It’s dated bimbo Hollywood overlong hair buffed up with additional hairpieces.  These fake "falls" keep sneaking out of a huge mass of hair that accomplishes nothing but distracting from her message.

It’s "in" right now in Entertainment Land,and out in Paris and the real world.  Shriver doesn’t need tons of hair. She’s brilliant and has great ideas that I want to hear. And yes, I find the hair gets too much attention. 

Rachel Maddow is the most refreshingly honest and smart news show around.

She has on opposition, she does her homework, sticks to the facts, and Rachel is fearless.

I was born right into the Depression. I got it about age 4 or 5. Everything out there was grim ,and the needy and hungry were all around us.   My dad lost his money to bank failure.    Then went the house. Then my dad worked two jobs for many years. We moved every year to a new apartment as 3 months free rent was offered with each year’s lease. We moved at least 3 times within 3 years.

Now we are headed towards the same destiny. We don’t even have decent healthcare offered by every civilized country.   Wall Street runs America, and lobbyists and Wall Streeet run Congress.

Unless our youth get behind a movement for real change and take the money out of the elective process ,as most democratic countries do, we will continue to become irrelevant as a propspering democracy.

Depressions and recessions are the result of improperly managed Capitalism without limits or controls. Really.

I wish her well but am not convinced that Whitney H takes responsibility   for her behavior. Her problems were glossed over and this was an Oprah rehab moment.

Whitney obviously has serious issues about self worth which can’t be addressed with facial redo’s,clothes, and publicity.  I felt watching her that she needs help.  Her tendency to gloss over the deeper part of her dark side may not be a TV conversation, but without professional help I can’t imagine how she’ll do.  I heard a part of her album and wasn’t impressed as her voice has taken a hit. She sounds hoarse and has trouble with higher octaves.  I really wish her well but wasn’t comfortable watching this.

On 9/11 I had the morning TV news on. My veternarian assistant came over to tend my cats who were on meds. Within a few minutes of his arrival we watched the first plane hit and thought it was an accident, but when the second hit we both looked at each other and said, "terrorists".

We sat quietly together for hours watching this beautiful clear day turn into horror.   It was eerily quiet for days, and yes we all felt confused,uneasy, and hearbroken for those that perished. I too noticed the hospital staffs lined up to receive the bodies that never came. And like many of us I was transfixed and shocky for days. The city was still and quiet for many days in an indescribable way.

One of my neighbors, an attorney, walked out against the advice of firemen telling him to stay. He’s alive today.  9/11 is a tragedy I will never fully overcome, as my heart still aches for all those that were lost.
