Dealing with the economy is first and foremost. Without some stability we will not go anywhere. All the other issues, Iraq,Torture,Guantanamo, are very tricky and complex and take time to execute properly. Without the transparency Obama promised today, and shoring up the economy and dealing with sub primes first, the other issues have to stand on line. We will have to be patient and give Obama the time to strategize and execute plans on ending torture,Guatanamo, and winding doen Iraq.

There has been a disconnect regarding all of us in terms of spending, using credit, and ignoring reality. But we are not the Wall St genuises entrusted with our investment capital who trashed our money and our trust. Greed is a disease that blinds. As certain aspects of this financial crisis deepen there may be more nervous breakdowns and suicides. I hope not, but our fearless economic giants misled and lied to us and acted irresponsibly and recklessly in every way. This group has been hugely rewarded for being inept, &dishonest as they fleeced stockholders by rewarding themselves with unheard of bonuses while failing. Many hedge fund leaders and banks [along with Wall St.] behaved dishonestly and wildly out of touch while packaging junk called “derivatives” all over the world . These derivatives were sold for 30 times or more of their real value. Or lack of any value. I believe there will be more shock waves, Both the lenders and the buyers of subprime mortgages along with bad credit card debts are part of a financial system functioning [?] without regulation and transparency. It doesn’t surprise me considering we haven’t had regulatory agencies functioning effectively for lo so many GOP years. Let’s hope this changes and transparency becomes commonplace . Greed has to be managed. I wish Obama and team luck and hopefully we will start to see some solutions. I am sad about the honest people who acted in good faith investing in seemingly venerable financial institutions that have been fleeced.
