Today’s Times has a story about a CPA that was in league with Madoff for years. And who worked for this outfit? Ruth Madoff, and family. There is no way we can judge this with total accuracy, and I hope the DA’s can find this out. Soon. But what makes me mad as hell are the priviledges accorded by the judge that allow him to live in luxury at home even as he sneaks jewelry out and was found to have many millions in signed checks ready for family members. This kind of deception should surely have landed him in jail except for the special treatment this sociopathic monster is enjoying. How can this be tolerated? What does this say about our legal system and the inability to understand why this monster should pay for his crimes and be imprisoned?

Why we haven’t taken to the streets down Wall St way, or anywhere we can protest reveals our apathy and guilt. We’re mad at Madoff and the theives of Wall street, but what are we the people doing? Nothing. Just waiting for Obama to save us.

Coulter’s Adam’s Apple has always fascinated me, and I wonder what kind of a life produced this toxic person? She? does seek attention but on the lowest level. Her comments about those who think differently are attacked viscerally. Why is she worth talking about and why does WOW give her any space? Thinking of her leaves me with a foul taste. K O’s, You are right on target here. Caroline should have had the grace and the smarts to recommend Maloney. And Cuomo is eminently qualified to say the least, but Caroline seems amibivalent and clueless.

It’s simple. Anyone wanting to be NY Senator would be subjected to answering questions about their positions, and why they want the job and what they bring that’s special. She seems ambivalent, inarticulate, and angered at having to answer any hard questions. This is a power play for someone with no political experience or skill because of family ties ,and the wrath that will come if not accomodated. It’s disgusting. There are several really qualified women for this seat, and Cuomo is also an eminently qualified and articulate choice. Caroline clearly does not have the verbal or political skills necessary for representing this most important senate seat during a time of crisis for New York and our country. It’s a no brainer that she is totally unqualified for this job by temperament and experience, and her distaste for public communication is more than apparent. This is really not coming to her simply because she wants it and because the Kennedy’s have deemed it as a royal command.

I am a democrat who voted for Obama. This senate seat is not a tryout for a Kennedy. We are in trouble because of this kind of cronyism. She ducks questions, and has a sense of entitlement that is totally inappropriate in these times. Experience is key.. She will parrot Bloomberg and yes anything she is told to do. What does she really believe and specifically what does she know that qualifies her? This is not a 2 year lesson for the elite. Your puff piece is that of a Kennedy troll or PR plant to boost Caroline Kennedy for no apparent reason at all.

It’s all about political clout,favoritism and money.How can I be for Caroline when I have no idea she feels about teachers. She ducked this question along with others and has been protected by her handlers of public scrutiny. She is perceived by Bloomberg as malleable, and Patterson as usable. This should be an elected position, or at least given to qualified democrats who can articulate their positions and we already know their accomplishments. This is a pathetic use of political power and Kennedy cannot even articulate a clear message or reason for her appointment.

It’s actually trivial, but Lady Laura did not want to put herself out. Period. It may have involved moving too many events [?] around. If not, she’s an ass. Blair House may truly not have been easy to make available, but the press will ferret this out. The Bush’s are not exactly a class act, as this info could easily have been provided as public events may have been scheduled there. Laura just didn’t care to do that.

This is a puff/troll piece for an unprepared person who cannot answer or articulate the questions put to her about education or anything else…. except about gay marriage. Lacking charisma and speaking skills doesn’t equate to part time fund raising, and good civic work Politics is about being clear about what you will do for your constituents and being specific. Then these promises can be evaluated against real performance in Senate. I have not heard one lucid or convincing sentence that answers any questions as to Kennedy’s policy positions currently imporant to all of us New Yorkers. Her upstate visit was a disaster. Lunch and photo op with Sharpton likewise, And the rest well……it’s about money and the Kennedy name. We vote for a person not a dynasty. As an active democrat I feel that the party owes its voters an answer about this incompetent choice to fill Hillary’s seat. We know nothing about the important current issues at hand from Kennedy and it’s obvious that her handlers are protecting her from exposure because she cannot project 2 thoughts clearly in one sentence. There will be a big price to pay in 2012 for this misguided choice. In fact we are already uneasy about someone’s entitlement whose ideas we know nothing about and who refuses to be confronted. This is politics, Not the Kennedy Center. Err…..we are not allowed to criticize a Kennedy because it’s heresy?

Char, As a New Yorker you sound to me like a clueless person about what kind of senatorial experience is needed especially at this crucial time. You say this isn’t rocket science? Considering NASA’s performances of late, it’s by far more important to dems and NYorkers to have first class representation. Caroline can’t string 2 thoughts together to make a lucid sentence. She dodges, feels entitled and it’s only her money and name pressure at the top that has put her in this power grab. She is a disaster ans if she runs in 2012 she will not be able to powerfully stump against the tide of rough politics. This is like Illinois. New York hopefully will not become the complete cesspool we see in Chicago.

In NY we democrats are very aware of the problems that she dodges and refuses to answer. Her responses so far are pathetic. Her background of civic duties, etc fo not qualify her, and her inability to communicate clearly and forcibly are totally lacking. It’s all about $$$$$ in 2012 for Patterson and the party’s coffers to keep NY. The lack of honesty and imagination in forcing her on us is disgusting.,and this will not have a good ending for NY or for the democrats. How different is this than the shennanigans we’ve been seeing on Wall Street?
