Do you have a tattoo?

Oops, I forgot to mention that I was 57 when I got the tattoo in Jan. 2005. I just turned 61 this month and still love my tattoo!

Do you have a tattoo?

My husband and I thought it would be fun to get tattoos since our kids all had one and we thought it would be a fun surprise to them. He passed away from cancer in Nov. 2004, before we got them. My girlfriends told me I should “go for it” anyway so in Jan. 2005 I got a tattoo. I collect M&M figurines so I got a tattoo on my right leg of the green M&M.

Why do you live where you do? How rooted are you to that place?

I was born and raised in Idaho. I moved with my husband (now ex) to California and lived for 3 miserable years. I couldn’t wait to get back to Idaho and vowed to never leave this great state again. My children and grandchildren are here! Idaho may have harsh winters but we don’t have near the problems other states have with weather related issues.

'wOw Friend' Marie Brenner: Sibling Wars - The Battle Continues

Sibling rivalry? Never really experienced it to such a strong degree until 4 of the 6 of us decided to build a cabin together, to be shared on a rotating basis. 2 of my brothers said “no way” and maybe they were the smart ones. It wasn’t the building of the cabin that was the problem, it was the furnishing and remodeling of the cabin that became the problem.

If you were a household appliance, what would you be?

I would be a washing machine, without question. When I was a new mother, we lived in a remote area and we were not able to afford a washing machine and dryer. If I was not able to get to the laundrymat because the baby was sick, the weather was bad or whatever the reason, I found myself washing diapers in the bathtub and hanging them up on an outside clothesline or around the kitchen or bathroom to dry. Even though that was over 35 years ago, I still really appreciate my washer and dryer.

So, You Want to Know Why Hillary Is Still in the Race?

Elaine, when are YOU going to understand that is YOUR opinion not everyone’s. You say the public doesn’t like her as much as Obama? Then answer me, why is it such a close race? Some of the public does like her. I don’t think she is in the race still because she doesn’t know how to quit, I think it says she is not a quitter. There is a big difference. You don’t have to have her as your role model. Who cares? By the way, I am quite sure the “Good Lord” doesn’t like his/her name used when speaking ill of others. Be a better role model than that.

If you could live inside a movie, which would it be?

Depends on what stage of my life I guess….when I was single I would have loved to be in “The Holiday”. As someone who was “burned” in many ways by an “Ex-husband” I would love to be in “First Wive’s Club”. Even though I haven’t seen the movie version….how about “Sex and the City”. (for the Cosmopolitans, great figure and clothes if nothing else.)

What is your favorite possession?

The CD I had made for viewing at my husband’s funeral. It contains special pictures of him as a baby, his school years, Marine Corp years and pictures of our life together. It shows him with his beautiful thick hair and him after he lost his hair from the brain surgeries and chemo/radiation treatments. He has been gone almost 4 years now but I still have my memories and those great pictures.

Are women harder on each other than they are on men?

I now live in a smaller town and had the unfortunate experience to work with mostly women in my only job here. In previous jobs, I worked for larger companies and yet we still tended to look out for each other. I did work with more men than women though. I was shocked to see how hard these women were on their co-workers (all women). During our lunch breaks I expected the talk to be about the cases we all were working on (legal system) but it was all talk about whoever was not in the room at the moment. This time was spent bad-mouthing the other women we worked with but were not in the room. It made me so uncomfortable I started eating my lunch alone in my office or left the building entirely. I know I then became the new subject of their conversations. I worked for my previous company over 20 years and in all of that 20 years I never felt as uncomfortable around my mostly male coworkers as I felt in the one year I worked on this last job with all women.

If you were a superheroine, which one would you be?

I think Marlo Thomas is a superhero. Her Dad started St. Jude and she is carrying on his work there. Whoopi Goldberg is a superhero too. She can make me laugh every morning on The View when I was not in the mood to laugh about anything.

Have you turned into your mother? If so, how?

My sisters and I have joked about this. We all have told each other that if one of us sees us laying a guilt trip on our children like she is so good at doing with us, to smack us! She has mastered the Guilt Trip talent.

'wOw Friend' Sheila Weller: What I Really Did in the '60s

Ok, so I lived through the 60’s in a cloud and I don’t mean from smoking anything. The first half was getting through high school years (grad of 65) followed by getting my first real job, then getting married and having my first child in ‘68. That first half of the 60’s was mostly fun, but I don’t even remember anything about the last half other than living with a cheating husband and learning to be a Mom. Thank goodness life got much better but not until I finally got rid of that cheating husband!

Joan Cooney: Senators Clinton and Obama Have Made Each Other Unelectable

Sorry Sharon, but while you were feeling sad over Hillary’s win…..I was cheering to the rooftops!

Does a Little Obama 'Elitism' Go a Long Way in Politics?

I couldn’t agree more - Obama comes across to me as snooty. He tries to act otherwise but every now and then it slips out. I am disappointed in Hilary’s stretching the truth and exaggerating some of her experiences, but when push comes to shove, she has proved she is the strongest of the two and definitely a fighter! She doesn’t back down and she has had to take a whole lot more punches than Obama has during this campaign. I hope she “cleans house” in the elections on Tuesday. I also have this gut feeling, if Obama gets elected a lot of weird stuff is going to happen. And my gut feelings have never let me down.

If you were Bart's wife, what would you do in the morning?

Being a woman who was in a very similar situation I now voted to confront him. I didn’t confront my husband (now EX) and it drove me to depression from insecurity and worrying. My children were small then and I was afraid of what the answer would be and would I be able to make it alone and support my children. After many times of his infidelity I finally got gumption and confronted him then asked for a divorce.
