What did you think of the Academy Awards show?

I’ve watched the Academy Awards for many years, and I think this was one of the best ones.  I really liked having previous winners  give a little speech about each of the nominees.  I thought Hugh Jackman was an incredible host — so many of the previous ones were tiresome and unfunny.  I thought the tribute segment was difficult to read, and the camera kept panning around, making it even more difficult.  I love to see the stars in their glamorous wardrobes — nothing too bizarre this year, thank goodness.  But I thought it was extremely tacky to have a split screen with Angelina Jolie when Jennifer Aniston was giving her presentation.

Where is the best public bathroom you know? What makes it so?

The ladies room in I. Magnin in San Francisco was magnificent.  It had separate stalls, each with its own sink and mirror and the gold-plated hardware on the doors.  I was last there about 25 years ago, so I don’t know if the store is still in business.

Michelle Obama's mother now lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Would you welcome a parent or in-law to live with you?

My parents and (former) in-laws have passed away. But I never, never could have lived with any of them. They were constantly interfering and trying to control things, which led to many problems in our marriage, and its eventual breakup. I try to be as different from them as I can, never criticize and rarely offer “suggestions.” But I would never live with my kids, either. They deserve to have lives of their own.

It’s amazing what a little plastic surgery and/or Botox can do.

Sarah Palin Says: Tomorrow, Barack Obama Is My President

and Hillary is brilliant and gaduated from Yale Law School, while it took six years and five colleges for Sarah to get her degree. Bill married Hillary because she was the smartest woman in school. She had a great deal to do with his success. If they hadn’t married, I’m sure she would have succeeded on her own.

Sarah Palin Says: Tomorrow, Barack Obama Is My President

Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton. You can’t even mention them in the same breath.

Retin-A and sunblock. Moisturizer. No woman should be without them. The one thing I will splurge on is my hair. I’ve been going to the same hairdresser for almost twenty years — he’s the only man who has ever understood my hair. He’s not cheap, but he’s worth every penny. If your hair doesn’t look good, nothing else will.

In these frightening financial times, have you stopped using your credit cards?

I use my credit card for any charges over $10 — groceries, gas, etc., even if I have enough cash with me. I get points for using it, and have redeemed them for flights in the past. I have always paid off my bill in full at the end of the month and have never incurred late fees.

I’m more impressed with Amanda Jennings: the first woman to break the top three in Eau Claire, Michigan’s Cherry-Pit-Spitting Championship, than I am with Sarah Palin.

What Christmas carol says it all for you this year?

I love authentic Christmas carols, and great works such as “The Messiah,” and “St. Matthew Passion,” etc. I detest Christmas songs like “Frosty the Snowman,” “Rudolph,” “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.” I’m so happy when it’s December 26th, and I don’t have to hear them for another eleven months.

If Sarah will be in the National spotlight because she’s good looking, what will happen in a few years when she starts to lose her looks? She certainly can’t rely on her brains!
