India: No Longer Taking Baby Steps, by Shibani Joshi

This is a problem.  On the plus side, I invariably find the Tech Support people from other countries to be patient and polite in the extreme - something I cannot always say about Americans who do the same sorts of jobs.  But…I’m at a disadvantage already because I obviously don’t know what I’m doing or I wouldn’t need Tech Support in the first place.  And then to have that language barrier on top of it - it’s just exhausting.

Also, let us not forget that there are lots of folks in the United States who cannot afford a bottle of 7-Up either.  We are not all living the good life.

Are you still a beach person? What beach phobias are you hiding?

You and I are so on the same page here.  I love to look at the beach (from afar).  I love to hear the sound of the waves outside my window at night.  But I simply cannot abide the sand.  I hate that grungy feeling that goes with it.  Whenever we vacation at the beach, it takes me weeks to get it all out of our clothes, etc…  Unfortunately, I am outnumbered in our household.  My husband and daughter LOVE the beach.

From Diane Sawyer to Jennifer Aniston: Paul Podlucky Picks the Best Summer Hairstyles of 2009

Phyllis, I know exactly what you mean about overdoing the celebrity praise.  It’s a bit shallow, for sure.  You are not being cranky.  And I do care very deeply about our country - and the world around us.  Sometimes I think I come across as too lukewarm.  That’s really not it.  I do have strong opinions.  I just don’t enjoy arguing.  I enjoy discussion, maybe even a little debate, but only if cool heads can prevail.  If I find that not to be the case then I won’t go there usually.  I always appreciate reading your thoughts.

From Diane Sawyer to Jennifer Aniston: Paul Podlucky Picks the Best Summer Hairstyles of 2009

Hmm…I just tried to look at slide 6 to refresh my memory and it wouldn’t load for me either.  I’m not sure if it did that the first time I looked or not.

(I agree, the ability to edit would be great.)

From Diane Sawyer to Jennifer Aniston: Paul Podlucky Picks the Best Summer Hairstyles of 2009

I agree that the word "amazing" is way overused.  Kate Moss looks OK, but hardly amazing.  Diane Sawyer looks good, as always, but I know a lot of ladies with that same hairstyle.  Winona Ryder does look great. I’ve always loved her short hair.  Christie Brinkley and Jennifer Anniston both look lovely, but with the same hairstyle as usual.  Nothing that says "summer" to me.

I must say I don’t mind the mix of light and heavy topics.  Most of the heavier topics quickly become hostile anyway and I generally stay away from that type of atmosphere.

Erin Andrews Hotel Video: Popular ESPN Sportcaster Victim of Low-Life Peeping Tom

Not being a sports fan, I am not familiar with this lady.  So…are people thinking this was a hotel employee?  Or is it more likely connected to the sports world in some way?  Either way, it’s absolutely disgusting and disheartening.

Speaking of disgusting, to those of you who keep posting the link…Why?

Paula Abdul's Fans Work to Keep Her on 'American Idol'; Chris Brown Apology Video (Video)

I rarely watch American Idol so it’s of little consequence to me.  But it occurs to me that this might be a ploy to drum up a little extra interest.

As for Chris Brown, I’m dubious.  What happened seemed like an awful lot of rage for a first, and last, time occurance.   I hope he proves me wrong.  It’s not as simple as just apologizing, though.  He is going to have to prove himself.  Only time will tell.

Do you multitask while driving?

Um…I think your reply may be meant for someone else.  Either that or you completely missed my point.  I’m saying that many of those who say they only do it when absolutely necessary probably rationalize everything as being absolutely necessary, including many things that I would certainly not consider to be necessary.  Of course multi-tasking while driving is madness.

Do you multitask while driving?

I think this self-reported poll is probably not very accurate, unless WOW women are quite different from the general population (a possibility… maybe we are to be congratulated).

I suspect the catch may be the 40% who do it only when absolutely necessary.  I’m thinking "absolutely necessary" may be in the eye of the beholder.

How to Remain a Nobody, by Sybil Adelman Sage

Very funny!  All in all, I think being a nobody suits me just fine, too.  Ms. Sage, do please stop by again soon.

Liz Smith: Gloria Vanderbilt – Obsessed? Erotic? Happy at Last?

Thanks, I had no idea.  Those two sons must keep a very low profile.

Liz Smith: Gloria Vanderbilt – Obsessed? Erotic? Happy at Last?

You’re right.  I didn’t catch that the first time.  It is just worded oddly, I guess?

Liz Smith: La Toya Talks 'Murder'

I’m also wondering why we never seem to see La Toya’s eyes.  It’s either sunglasses or a big, floppy hat…or something to cover them up.

They are a school pf phiranas.  La Toya says that Michael was worth more dead than alive to whoever "murdered" him.  It’s looking to me like he was worth more dead than alive to the Jackson family.  So she may want to re-think that accusation.

Al Sharpton seems to have edged out Jesse Jackson in this situation, and that takes some doing!

Liz Smith: Gloria Vanderbilt – Obsessed? Erotic? Happy at Last?

Beth, I think one of her sons is deceased.  I am only aware of two sons.

Liz Smith: Gloria Vanderbilt – Obsessed? Erotic? Happy at Last?

Me, too, Lena.  I’m sure Ms. Vanderbilt is the very personification of grace.  But it’s easier to be gracious when you’re not the one doing the clean up.
