The Facebook Problem, by Yvette Nicole Brown
First, I agree with L.C., Yvette Nicole Brown does look fabulous! I "know" her well from Drake & Josh, one my daughter’s favorite programs, and from lots of other things as well. You never know where she will turn up and she’s always a welcome addition when she does. Like here.
So far I have no interest in Facebook. My motto is "Never say never" but I just don’t see it happening. I also agree with kermie b in that I believe a lot of people collect "friends" just to get a higher number. But "To each his own" (my other motto).
Indian Lawmaker Rita Bahuguna Joshi Jailed, Had House Burned, for Standing Up for Rape Victims
Have you changed your opinion of Sonia Sotomayor since the start of her confirmation hearings?
The members of the Judiciary Committee do love to hear the sounds of their own voices, though, don’t they?
I’m glad to hear you’re doing well, too, James. Hope everything works out perfectly.
Liz Smith Thinks That JFK Jr.'s Death Was an 'Epic Unnecessary Tragedy'
I don’t think Ms. Smith’s words are overly harsh at all. Yes, I found him to be handsome. Yes, as I have said, I preferred him to the other Kennedys. But he did take an unnecessary chance. As a result, not only did he lose his life, but so did his wife and sister-in-law. There is no way to dispute that. He obviously did not intend for it to turn out that way. But it did and it didn’t need to happen.

I’m of two minds here. Obviously, the rape victims were treated shabbily. And requiring brides to submit to pregnancy and virginity tests is barbaric. There is absolutely no excuse for Joshi’s house being set on fire.
But…I do find her remarks to Mayawati to be very offensive. And I hate when people "apologize" by saying they are sorry if their remarks were misinterpreted. I don’t find that to be a sincere apology.
Nevertheless, she should not be jailed for those remarks.

As my daughter would say, no amount of therapy is going to make that mental image go away….
I agree, it’s all over but the shouting. I’m still undecided about her personally, though. I guess no candidate is perfect.
On the ten-year anniversay of the death of John F. Kennedy, his wife, and his sister-in-law, how do you remember JFK Jr.?
I’m not sure he lived long enough to leave a legacy either. I will say this - I have never been a fan of the Kennedy family. But JFK Jr. seemed to be the cream of the crop to me. Who knows if time would have proved me right about that? Like Andrea, I did like the fact that he appeared to march to the beat of his own drum.
On a purely aesthetic note, he was also the most physically attractive (in my opinion) of all the Kennedys. And I was moved by his and Carolyn’s beautiful, romantic wedding. It struck me that, if these two could pull off a wedding without attracting hoards of media, so could other celebrities who cry about having no privacy.
Liz Smith: La Toya Talks 'Murder'
I have heard reports indicating that Joe Jackson is saying that "we" (meaning Katherine and himself) should raise the children. I believe he is already trying to insinuate himself back into a position of control. He’ll be hard to deter, in my opinion.
I agree that, sick as we all are of it, this situation is not going away anytime soon.
How My Decision About a Late-Term Abortion Affected My Marriage, by Alice Eve Cohen
Agreed, Elizabeth. If I posted that response to you, I may have done so in error.
On another topic (the one about Sonia Sotomayor?) one poster said that any married woman would tell you that a woman would make a better decision than a man. I said I did not know that to be necessarily true. She replied that I was the first married woman she knew who said her husband would always make a better decision. That, of course, is not quite what I said. I can’t say that he would always make the best decision but, conversely, I can’t say that he would never make the best decision. I happen to think my husband is smart and fair minded. I wouldn’t be married to him if he was not.

I’ll agree that being up front is the only way to go. That’s in everyone’s best interests.
