How My Decision About a Late-Term Abortion Affected My Marriage, by Alice Eve Cohen

I believe it would have been too late for an amniocentesis test.  An ultrasound would have been a pretty good indicator of whether or not the baby was OK, but not as reliable as the amniocentesis would have been.

I can certainly understand this lady’s ambivalent feelings, given the circumstances.  I can also understand the feelings of the baby’s father.  This was his baby, too.  He was not telling her what to do but was being honest about what an abortion would mean for him.

I have always suspected that late term abortions might be a tad easier to obtain than we are led to believe.  Thank goodness that did not happen in this case.

Since this is just the condensed version, I would think some of those unanswered questions earlier posters mention are more fully addressed in the book itself.  I might read this book.

Who, in your opinion, is the most physically beautiful woman you've ever laid eyes on in person?

I agree completely with your first paragraph.  Hopefully, we can soon return to more substantial topics.

But something positive did come from this one!  Thank you so much for the link to Ithaca.  That was lovely in every way.  I think I fell in love a little listening to it.

Who, in your opinion, is the most physically beautiful woman you've ever laid eyes on in person?

Hi C jay.  I think some of us are just happy to talking about something…anything…other than Michael Jackson!

You make a good point, though.  Perhaps "laid eyes on" should have been worded differently.  Even aside from "inner beauty" there are qualities I find attractive that have nothing to do with sight.  For instance, I am attracted to certain types of voices.  I have always loved to hear Lauren Bacall speak.  As for men, the actor Charles Boyer’s voice just sends me.  I don’t even care what he looked like.

Liz Smith Remembers a 'Simply Gorgeous' Elizabeth Taylor

She was turning 40.  I’m sure the magazine was Life.  And I think you are right about the rest, too.  The picture was gorgeous.  And, yes, pictures of her even as a very small child are mind boggling.  She was not "cute".  She was beautiful.  I’ve often wondered about the combination of genes that produced those looks.

How many times have you read To Kill a Mockingbird?

Will definitely do the re-read.

I had to go back and find your post telling the woman to set her father’s grave on fire.  Too funny, and no more than the old boy deserves.

How many times have you read To Kill a Mockingbird?

You are right, it will be the 49th not the 39th.  It was published in 1960.

Lily Tomlin (aka Tommy Velour) Remembers Michael Jackson in Her Own Special Way (Video)

I thought he looked uncomfortable the entire time but, yes, up close he was definitely defensive.

How many times have you read To Kill a Mockingbird?

I don’t typically re-read but my daughter often does.  She makes the same point, that she always gets something new.  For some reason, I was not aware of the Truman Capote connection the first time I read this one.  Having recently read the Harper Lee biography, in which Capote figures fairly prominently, I’m thinking of doing a re-read with that in mind.

Do you think Jackie Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy had an affair?

The more I think about your views on this, the more I believe I understand where you are coming from.  I have said that I was uninterested, but for a different reason than some of the others, I think.  I suspect you and I might agree that this family has sort of been given a "pass" about certain bad behaviors.  They are so revered that some just don’t want to know.

I have personally come to believe that almost anything is possible with this family.  None of the men took their marriage vows seriously, beginning with their father.  I think this is entirely possible and have actually heard the rumor before.  But it is hard to know for sure and I hate to engage in gossip.  I always had a certain amount of sympathy for Jackie because I believe she was ill used by this family.  She was a definite asset to the President’s image and I believe that is the only reason he married her.  Neither he nor his family treated her with respect, though.  But, if this is true, then she is guilty of bad behavior as well.  Maybe they drug her down to their level?

My feeling about the Kennedys is that maybe they have done a few good things but I do not respect them as people.  Therefore, they do not interest me.

Kelly Preston, Kate Gosselin, Elizabeth Edwards to Headline Maria Shriver's Women's Conference

I’m sure this will be a difficult first step for Kelly Preston.  I wish her well.

How many times have you read To Kill a Mockingbird?

I read it once and loved it.  I rarely read any book more than once, though.  I recently read the biography about Harper Lee.  That kind of gave me a new perspective about the book so I may have to make an exception and re-visit this book.  I’ve also seen the movie twice, I think.

Steve McNair Taped Youth Suicide PSA Before Being Killed in Murder-Suicide by Mistress Sahel Kazemi

Yes, I know.  And I was just saying that someone else felt it was the other way around, as far as who gets the most blame, and that it was unfair.  So I think it just depends on who you ask.  As for me, I simply don’t see any distinction at all between the two.

I did not say, or even imply, that it was funny that the shoe was on the other foot.  Ironic, yes.  Funny, no.  Nor did I imply that she was justified in killing him.  Death is never funny.  I hope you were referring to someone else?

LIZ SMITH FLASH! Old Joe Jackson Thinking Showbiz for Paris?

I’m not aware of any typical Jehovah’s Witness funeral ceremony.  I did a quick google search, too, and I didn’t find anything.  One source said they usually do not have eulogies but it depends upon the individual.  And we know MJ was eulogized.  And I think they would be considered Christian.
