Liz Smith on Milkmen, Ice Men and Newsboys

We were horrible and used to torture my little sister that the milkman was her father! We also used to have wooden crates of soda, Virginia Dare and metal cans of Charlies potatoe chips delivered. Fresh eggs were delivered, and fresh fruit and veggies came down the street everyweek on a horse drawn cart….for some odd reason these guys were called A rabs. Life in Baltimore.

Liz Smith: Mark Rydell Recalls His Blooming 'Rose' With Bette Midler and Challenging Kate Hepburn (Video)

Gosh 30 years since the Rose? I remember hooking school in 79 and seeing a double feature…The Rose and the movie "Hair". And thinking I was born 10 yrs too late. I immedietely got the big curly perm like Bette and immersed myself in the music…Joplin, Dylan, The Doors….aaah fun times.

Three Ways to Turn On Liz Smith

'Guiding Light' Star Tina Sloan: 'We're Being Replaced by a Game Show' ... It's Devastating

I grrew up watching this show…..and before vcr’s Mom would tell me what happened that day on TV. If something big was happening she’d let us stay home that day. When we got our first VCR in ‘78 ($600 wow!) she would tape everyday….and we’d watch it together that night. Lovely memories with my mom. Thank you GL. You will be missed.

Liz Smith Channels Kitty Carlisle Hart

You guys are lucky. I am  short and chubby. I have the legs of a toddler. Capri pants are the best invention ever!

Liz Smith: Gloria Vanderbilt – Obsessed? Erotic? Happy at Last?

Have a wonderful vacation Liz! My mornings will not be the same. And don’t forget the sun screen!

Candice Bergen on the 'Miracle' First Family

As a voter for over 30 years the pride, respect and admiration for this president is more than I ever experienced. This man inspired me to get involved and stay informed and for this I will always be grateful. I feel like he is truly trying to help someone like me, which I never felt with any president in my life..

Dear Margo: Has He Gotten the Red Sports Car Yet?

Both sad. I think some women stay in relationships because of money, lack of self-confidence and when children are involved it’s even more difficult.  I have been of the mindset I’d rather live on oodles of noodles than be miserable but than I don;t have children to shelter and feed. So I can understand #1. Now #2….42 is young! And it is liberating to be single. You can do it! Go out and make your own life…you don’t need a man to have a happy life. I got out 8 years ago….took 3 yrs to get my career back on track, luckily had a good support system of friends to help me. These 8 yrs have been the best of my life. It’s empowering being in control of your own life. I have dated but for me to get get seriously entangled…it will have to be someone really fabulous and I still dont know. Almost 50 now and I am a happy woman.

Think Twice About Using Zicam Nasal Products

I love the Ziacam…and my sense of smell is fine…uggg…I am sure it is too late to go and buy as much as I can.

Liz Smith Sticks to a Land Line

I think people get to a certain point and they just stop and do not cross the line….be it music..gadgetry…new software…Me? Stopped listening to new music in 96….will never get a blaclberry/iphone, cannot master the texting…facebook yes, twitter never and 2 versions of adobe have passed me by with out an attempt to master. It’s an odd occurrance and I can’t believe it’s happening to me.. I remember my Dad was upset when we got a touch tone phone at his office and horrors! It had 2 lines with a hold button! He was a sign painter and was so disturbed graphic plotters came out in 85. He’d flip if he saw what I can produce today with the aid of a computer.

I did give up the land line at home though…wasnt worth the 50 bucks a month…I never used it. And I like that all my numbers are saved in the cell and if ever in an emergency situation I have a phone with me.

Liz…you might not succumb to the cell phones but I am glad you have embraced the internet and given me something good to read every morning!
