I’m sorry but I find it amazing that this topic is one we as a society are even having in 2008. Why is it so difficult for anyone to understand equal pay for equal work? Why should the fact that one person can pee standing up mean they must receive more pay? I just don’t get it. Yet people will argue until they’re red in the face about government intervention and about how government intervenes too much. Can you imagine what companies and corporations would get away with in this regard if Big Brother wasn’t watching?

This is a tough one for me because I know people who were caught up in this mess. They brought up houses as if they were buying new pairs of shoes always believing they would be paid for. Now, they are each in over their heads and the houses are going back to the banks. As I have heard many financial experts say over the last few days, the decision on how to proceed in this regard should not be hasty and should instead be thoughtful. This reminds me of the scenario surrounding us at the time we invaded Iraq. Urgency by those from the White House, stressing the urgency to act now or else…..8 years later, thousands of U.S. lives loss and Billions of dollars in debt because of it and we now know the intelligence was flawed. When as Sen. Obama and others pointed out at the time, we shouldn’t rush into anything and that more intelligence was needed. Are we rushing into this financial war of sorts when we don’t have to? How stable is the intelligence coming from Henry Paulson? (Who is gorgeous by the way.) I just don’t know who to trust on this…..

Why should Hillary have to “take her on” Because they both have breasts and vaginas in common? The only person that needs to take Sarah Palin on is Joe Biden. You would think she was running for president these days……

Okay, if the FBI now has the proof needed to prosecute…..they’d better prosecute. I may not agree with Sarah Palin’s politics, but I will defend hers or any of our rights to due process. If her emails are to be made public because of their possible importance in regard to how it will affect her role as our Vice President, then it should be done legally. I would hope that because he is the son of a politician he will not receive special treatment.

First of all, I love Elie Wiesel! For a million different reasons and because he is in my opinion an angel that walks the Earth…..I genuinely mean that. There are some people that have a light in them that illuminates all that they touch, where ever they go, he is one of those people that I see as pure goodness. In contrast to Elie’s goodness we had Hitler who was pure evil. Evil personified. True, he did not personally murder millions of human beings….no. He did not shoot the gun, he handed the gun to the person. He did not stab anyone, but instead handed the knife to the person. He did not activate the gas that killed millions; he guided and directed the men who built the gas chambers. My point being, as an evil man he held great influence over others which led to the demise of millions. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is no different than Hitler, other than the body count to date has not reached that of Adolph Hitler. However unchecked and not monitored, it may………can we as a society really afford to live through another holocaust?

There are so many people that come to our country that are in my opinion undeserving of being here. They do not come to our shores for honest, thoughtful reasons. I have been a passenger in many cabs over the years and have had to endure drivers berate our country, its people and laws. My rebuttal, “then why are you here if we are so bad?” Yet people such as Alima who have faced the ultimate in cruelty one can inflict on another person …..and she is being told she can’t stay in America? She is in a position where she must justify her presence in our country and plead why she doesn’t want to return to the place where the crimes against her body took place? It just doesn’t seem fair and it breaks my heart.

First off, I am not excusing the idiot employee that stole Jamie’s photos; he/she should be prosecuted when/if they are discovered. However I have to say this or I’ll burst. The photos were taken on a digital camera. Everyone who owns a digital camera knows they can print their photos directly from their computers in their homes. You need only have photo paper in a color printer or use the photo processing printer that comes standard with certain cameras. When you are a celebrity and hold a certain level of notoriety, you know that there are things that you may have done before you were famous that you can’t do. You can’t go for a stroll in Central Park with not a drop of makeup on, unless you want the photogs to take your picture. You can’t (and shouldn’t) step out of a car with no underwear on in a skirt, unless you want the phototogs to take your picture. And you certainly should not drop off photos of yourself breast feeding your child WITH a breast exposed at a Wal-Mart! Jamie Lynn and her family have more than enough money to afford to have the photos printed in her home on their own printing equipment. Lord, I am not a celebrity and I assure you no one knows me or could care less about what my breasts look like, and I would never drop off digital photos at a Wal-Mart! True, if she wanted to have pictures processed of herself that depict her naked, she should have the right to do so. I’m not arguing that, so please be clear of what I am saying. The point is not that she can’t do it; it is why did she choose to do it? Knowing she is in the public eye and clearly notable. I think it is another example of a celebrity using really poor judgment and forgetting that they are no longer the nameless face in the crowd. With success and celebrity comes a heightened degree of personal space and responsibility on their parts. This in my mind shows poor judgment on her part AND on the part of the clerk who stole her photos. Lastly, funny how the father of her baby isn’t being prosecuted for having sex with a minor…..I find that quite curious how some boys are and some aren’t. The laws in this regard really need to be changed.

Okay….for me sexy has to be the total package. Tom Selleck and even Richard Gere are handsome, but their voices are not hot. Sean Connery, definitely attractive, but the fact that he feels women should be slapped once in awhile….no! The list goes on and on for men that I think are physically attractive but are lacking in other areas. The only man that has the complete package…..and I mean complete package…..is actor SAM ELLIOTT!

Apologized. I lived in an apartment building for years and over that time occupied different units dependent upon my income. When I first moved in when I was young it was an efficiency, but as I became more financially stable I moved into larger apartments. However, I was always lucky enough to live among quiet tenants. Until I got the neighbor from hell. Loud music, loud sex, loud TV, loud phone conversations, doors being slammed, screaming, yelling……just noisy. For months I endured it and it literally almost drove me crazy. One day I was in the laundry room talking with another tenant about my neighbor from hell. Bemoaning the fact that I was forced to endure such rude behavior. That night for the first time in months there was silence. Nothing. The next morning when I got up and was leaving for work I noticed a note on the floor next to my apartment door. It simply said, “I’m sorry about the noise, you may not believe it but I didn’t realize I was bothering anyone. I’m use to living in a house and not use to living so close to my neighbors. Sorry.” Through a truly six degrees of separation situation, the noisy neighbor found out I was the one complaining about him. I never heard a peep from his unit after that note was left.

Completely remove politics from the picture…..if Barack is all that he is portraying himself to be as a man….I am so jealous of Michelle! She has a wonderful husband.

Liz Smith has echoed those I would have chosen and for all the same reasons. We know that these are women who each have strong supporters and those who decry them as not being worthy of praise. However, if the question is purely who holds the most power, they each weld the type of power and authority that is recognized not just in America, but worldwide.

I find it amusing that now that I am older and approaching my 50th birthday in a couple of years I am at a confidence level as it relates to love, sex and romance that I have never felt. Yet I am so “picky” I fear I won’t meet a man to show off all these new found emotions!

Well said Mary……excellent! It is a sad part of our personalities that we as women are far more likely to speak negative of other women than men will. Some of it’s from jealousy and some from the sad fact (for many of us) we gauge our attractiveness by comparing ourselves to others. “My hips aren’t as big as hers….look at the wrinkles on her forehead….she might be pretty, but you JUST KNOW she had work done!” We say it to make ourselves feel better in comparison. But I agree with you and I know speaking for myself, I will try to be less catty in my life.
