Michele,  I think the that having courage to decide on and work towards what you need in your personal relationships is an important step towards healing.  Families can be very uncomfortable with this though, as I’ve seen happen to my mother when she, a widow herself, began to date a widower.  His children felt very threatened and their lack of support led to the failure of the relationship.  Talking about this issue isa huge but frightening step.
