When Obama promised changed the biggest thing I was hoping he would give us is truth and transparency ….. if he had at least done that …. There are going to be a lot of newcomers running in 2010 and 2012 - and there is going to be change because we the people will make it happen ….

There are great divisions between Obama’s policies and though race (from all sides) will exist as it is an unfortunate evil in the souls of some - the souls of many in America are uniting under a common thread. Less government spending - get rid of the corruption and never make promises to the American people you have no intention of keeping. Americans are not stupid …. Americans are waking up … white, purple, blue - whatever …..

There will be a backlash against people like you who promote this evil lie and you will deserve what you get. The hardest thing to be in America right now is African American and not a supporter of this President according to many of my friends (Lloyd Marcus among them on TS).

Sure there were crappy signs at the protests but there were tens of thousands more that were excellent. How soon you forget the name calling that went on when Bush was in office but then again you did not care about that did you? How soon you forget that he was booo’d by the Dems in Congress but that is okay as well because he was Republican right?

In my mind it is never okay for anyone of any party to be disrespectful to the President of the United States …. the apology was accepted - get over it - move on - this distraction will not work - WE THE PEOPLE ARE AWAKE AND WATCHING NOW AND WILL NOT BE TRICKED ANYMORE.

I do not beleive anything that comes from any government agency. I work in the health care industry and rely on my own eyes, ears and experience to tell me the real story of health care in America. I do however appreciate the calm argument that you offered. It is refreshing to be able to debate this way!

SG - This has NOTHING to do with race. Do you know how many African Americans did not support Obama because of his policies? There are a great number of them and some I ran across told me that the "hardest thing about being black in America today is NOT supporting Obama."  They have lost family and friends on a far bigger scale than you could imagine (but maybe you can).

However I am happy to report that everyday they are being able to reunite with people who abandoned them during the election because they are waking up and buyers remorse is HUGE!

There is far too many chiefs in Medicare Liz and not enought workers. They need to get rid of administratiors who collect the big bucks and sit - well need I say it? More workers could then be hired to streamline Medicare - this would help the system work far more efficiently and people would be helped faster. The biggest complaint is the long delay in service because the system is overwhlemed ….

As well it would help if the fraud squad was increased - to focus on cleaning up the corruption in the system. That would save us billions!

However it is a social program - supported by the people and run by the government …. accountability is needed - what happened to all the money the people paid into it? (As if we need to ask with the governements we have had) …. money for Medicade should be funnelled and directly used just for Medicade ….

AS FOR CANADA the system is underfunded and falling apart. I am glad to hear you got good care and members of your family get good care …. members of mine DO NOT - right across the country. The care in America is exceptional and people are not dying in the streets of this country. EVERYONE who needs it gets care.

You have always made a fair honest debate on this site Frances and here is what I KNOW about Canadian Health Care -

People are not dying in the streets per say but they often die before they get the treatment they need and more than a few times have been found dead on cots in the hallway and chairs in the waiting areas of the emergency room ….. the doctors are outstanding but there is a huge shortage in Canada and they are overworked and underpaid. They are doing selective care - if you are an elderly person needing dialysis for example - and someone younger comes along you are moved to the end of the line …. the same thing goes for any treatment once you are elderly. As well pallative care units are the latest thing - I recently had an aunt die because she decided not to drink …. period …. and there was no reason that should have happened. She was 82, very drepressed and instead of trying to deal with the depression they moved her into the pallative care unit and let her die. THAT is Canadian health care …. and from reports of family members I have living in Canada it is on a downward sprial. Family doctors are a thing of the past and instead of opening their own offices doctors are opting to work for private clinics who pay them more - but they are denied hospital privileges because of that so if you are ill in hospital you see whoever draws your card that day even though they do not know you from adam ….

What I want to see in America is torte reform - making it impossible to sue doctors for stupid things …. and only for gross malpracitce …. doctors are often sued for the littlest of things because it has become the ‘American way" - I want to see insurance rates portable (state to state) and I want to see the prices of this insurance based on a national not a state to state level. I want the government to make it illegal to deny/cancel coverage for any reason other than fraud and they have the power to do this ….. If the price of our health care coverage is based on a national level it brings the cost down for everyone including those with pre-existing conditions …. I want medicade and medicare cleaned up - made the adminstration level lighterin both of these systems - use the money to hire more people who do the REAL work and do the same with Vetran’s benefits as well … we do not need more talking heads running these systems but less and more workers who do the real work so that people are taken care of in a more effective matter …

…. and I DO NOT want a government funded public option ever - we need LESS government control of our lives - NOT MORE … When they prove they can run effective programs - that is the time we could consider this but no matter what you beleive no government has ever been there for the people - not for a very long time and it is time WE THE PEOPLE - take it back ….

… and pigs will fly …. what is done will be undone BEFORE it ever comes into effect ….

Michelle Obama WAS patient dumping something the hospital I work at DOES NOT do …. everyone gets treated with emergencies taken first …. it others want to wait for a bandaid so be it but patient dumping is never righj ….

Odd too that she had a huge salary increase for her PART TIME job …. after Obama had a huge allotment of public money settled on that hospital …. To make that kind of money FOR PART TIME WORK is ridiculous - what kind of experience did she have in the health care field to even warrant a job such as she had?

Patient dumping for any reason is not only NOT okay if you really worked in the hospitals in America you would be well aware of the fact that it is ILLEGAL …. there is a law that had been brought into effect (senior moment - ? Regan perhaps) that made it illegal to turn patients away from emergency rooms because of an inability to pay. Everyone in America is legally entitiled to care in spite of what some are trying to say here. Paint it any way you want - that is what she did and it outraged the people in the area she worked.

One last thing …. we will not be keeping silent as we did before. If you kick us off more will come to take our place because it is unreasonable to hold one side of an argument responsible. He who laughts first laughs last - and you would do well to remember that.

Americans are waking up and everyone that I can encourage to come to this site will come with fair debate in mind. That is all we want …. no name calling, put down, race cards played (that is very overused here) … nope - just the truth …. It was sites like this that helped turn the election one way because of the propoganda, half-truths and lies that were spread by posters - now we will use them in growing numbers to get the truth out ….

I can’t help wondering why you singled out the State of Texas? Most States have now postitioned themselves to secede from our Republic if the government does not stop trying to rule this country like we are a Democracy. Though we have democratic rights we are a Republic and just because Americans of all parties are standing up to make that clear does not mean they are right wing nuts. The power in our Republic is supposed to sit in the arms of the people and extend up to the government - all that is happening is we are taking that power back. should have done it twenty years ago.

Perhaps some better research should have been done by Ms. Smith instead of just using left wing rhetoric to make up a story. Most of "those people" are independants … some are Dems and repubs … but if I was Obama I would be worried about the independants who are jumping off his little cart of expensive goods like fleas ….

As for insults we have been called every name in the book and this site allowed it …. DeBurca was one of the worst attackers and when that kind of exchange starts it spirals …. It was started by the left and we fought back …. that is all …. with facts that we tried to present from middle of the line media but we were burned at the stake every chance those who will not tolerate differences had the opportunity to strike a match.

Debate is supposed to be measured and we should be tolerant of each other but there has to be room given for differences of opinions (and differences in a sense of humor it would seem). Why revel in the fact that a couple of our gals may have got the boot? Who told you that? How is it that you are privy to information that should be private?

We are here …. we are listening …. we are responding and beleive this - 2010 and 2012 will bring great change we can beleive in and live with - and you can take that to the bank!
