How to Drive Whoopi Goldberg Crazy

Would you consider it a back-handed compliment if I wondered why Whoopi isn’t on the list of 50 and fabulous. In addtion to the fact that she is so articulate, her great sense of humor, expressive eyes and shapely legs qualify her for my personal list… Hopefully that won’t put me on her list of things that drive her crazy.

A Princeton-trained physicist told ABC News this week that Global Warming is 'all bunk.' Do you believe in Global Warming?

If we look at the earth 10,000 years ago when a significant potion of Europe and North America were under thousands of feet of ice it’s impossible to deny global warming. This is part of a cycle that takes thousands of years. The question really is what effect our current behavior is going to have on this cycle. I believe that today’s science can not predict what our weather would be in 100 years (or even 100 days) with or without our unrestrained release of green house gases. I believe it’s irresponsible not to consider what effect we are having. I think we would be totally blind not to believe that our planet has got a lot in store for us that we can’t predict or control. Would it be a blow to our sense of importance to realize that if we removed every human from the face of the earth today, 500 years from now there would be no more evidence of our existence than there is of dinosaurs.

What is the biggest lie you have ever believed?

That she got Chlamydia from swimming in a pool. (Hey I was young…)

If you knew your husband cheated on you, would you divorce him?

I suppose that if we reverse the genders then the question is basically the same. I have been in that situation and did stick it out until other issues were enough to make the marriage end. I think it is something that each couple has to look at on their own. In many cases it is a symptom of problems that both partners contribute to. Even though I’ve been thru it myself, I still can’t see it in purely it term of black and white.

Should prostitution be legal? Why? Why not?

There are so many pro’s (no pun intended) and con’s to this that I imagine the question has been around as long as the profession. I wonder if it really change the life of the run of the mill $20-$50 hooker. If it was too difficult for them to meet new regulations would they get off the street or would it just make their life more difficult. For the high end trade I don’t believe it would make much difference in the day to day business. I would hate to see some super-star lady of the evening become a celebrity that our daughters or granddaughters would come to view as a role model because her profession is now legal. I guess that means my vote is no. I don’t believe we’ll ever get rid of the trade, it’s a statement of our values that says that it’s wrong. I don’t think that making it legal will end the victimization.

What Made Eliot Spitzer Fall?

Wow, just being a man… I hope it’s ok that a man would come on this site and maybe be able to say something. I respect the women who head this site and find that women are often much more grounded than men. But you all aren’t perfect… (-: I do think that Spitzer should be held to a higher standard. He built his reputation and career putting the spotlight and the cuffs on people for these kind of actions. I think that level of hypocrisy creates more public reaction than the immorality. If this kind of behavior were to remain in his private life than I am certain that he would have been able to find discreet women attracted to his position. Transporting high paid hookers out of state and keeping them in your hotel is a flagrant way of getting attention. I wonder (and hope) that as women become more prevalent in the higher levels of politics that they might raise the standards of behavior. I believe that women are attracted to this type of public service for different reasons than men. If so, perhaps they won’t look at the cute interns and sycophants as the spoils of victory for attaining high office. What do you think, would women in high office be less likely to indulge in this kind of behavior?
