And to answer your question, Elaine, have I taken in a pregnant girl? No. I had to move in with my 83-year-old mother when her health started failing two years ago. And so you will know, Elaine, I am currently holding down two jobs so I do not have to depend on any subsidy from the government. I do give money to groups trying to promote sex education and birth control in schools. While you might have been a “good” girl in high school, lots of young people do experiment sexually and they need to know how to protect themselves not only from pregnancy, but from STDs. I think it is nothing less than criminal that they are not educated to learn how to protect themselves. It is foolish to think that teens are going to abstain from sex. And I have to say, that out of the thousands of women I know, only two of them have had abortions. One girl I knew in high school, Elaine, before Roe v. Wade, heard from a friend of her older sister that if she took an entire month’s pack of birth control pills she would abort. I spent the night with her, she took all 20 pills and had a miscarriage. She was 17 and a senior in high school and I honestly think her father would have killed her if she had told her parents she was pregnant. No one should have to go through that again, Elaine.

I think it is a shame that Hillary pulled out. I would have LOVED to have listened to the two of them speak at the same event, and perhaps people would more fully realize that Sarah Palin has nothing of any substance to say, unlike Hillary Clinton who does.

Can we get Karl Rove arrested for his interference with the Justice Department and all the lies he told that had Don Sigleman, former governor of Alabama, put in jail? I know a lot about some things, and I know a little about a lot of things, but this financial stuff just makes me glad I am poor and don’t have to worry about the stock markets. Bottom line, to me Regan’s “trickle down” economics almost meant the rich pissing on the poor. I have that same feeling about the current administration and John McCain. They have no clue.

I learned to forgive myself for marrying the wrong man too early in life and putting up with too much crap for too long. I learned how to say “no” to people demanding too much of me without feeling guilty about it. I learned to appreciate my parents. Just remember about wikipedia, whether you agree with its contents or not, anyone can go on there and change anything that is written there. It is not a good place to find information. Now, often whoever wrote the article will put links on the bottom of their article and sometimes those are legitimate places to find info. I honestly know little about the causes of the economic failures going on right now, but it strikes me that the President should have been paying attention to what was going on.

I teach history at the university level and I have warned my students about research on the internet. Just because someone wrote about a topic on a website, does not make it true. Many of the websites you have posted above are not legitimate news websites and not accurate. They are simply lies that are spread on the internet because there are no legal constraints against spreading them which is a shame.

I really admire Elizabeth Edwards and I think she has shown amazing grace in this awful time.
