Dear Margo: ... And Maybe Cut Down on the Tequila

I couldn’t agree with you more. These women say "Well, it’s not like he’s going to clean up his vomit, so what am I supposed to do?" As long as there’s no children in the house, I say let it rot there until he does clean it up. And if he goes on a passive- aggressive trip and won’t touch it, well, then you have even more incite into the person you married. Either way, I’ve never cleaned up after a drunk (including my own father) and I never will.

Liz Smith: Gina Gershon Gives the 'Birdie' to Critics

I dunno…I remember once being told that my beliefs were wrong, I was an ignorant hypocrite and that I was going to hell. "But at least you’re very pretty", then said the woman who was berating me, as if that softened the blow. Am I wrong to feel that same sense of irritation when I read Ben Brantley’s review of Gina Gershon? Sounds to me that while he found her physically attractive, he thought her acting was lousy.

Dear Margo: This Kid's No Cinderella

In response to the second letter: As a believer in God and a mother, I can relate to the shock a mother would feel if the child I raised told me that she is rejecting the faith she was brought up to believe. But children grow up into adults with decisions they must make concerning their own life and especially how to exercise their free will regarding their spirituality. This, especially, is a personal decision between themselves and God and not one that any parent can make for them. Therefore, this mother should not feel like a failure if her child has decided to pursue a different path other than her own.

How My Decision About a Late-Term Abortion Affected My Marriage, by Alice Eve Cohen

Sheesh. You know, that terrible uterus that rules us so much can always be removed so that we may never be subject to the utter tyranny of it’s contents. Or, there’s always the option that we could, like, not have sex until we’re ready to deal with the possiblity of a pregnancy. Seems to me that those who can’t do so are slaves of a different organ.

Dear Margo: A Bit of a Chip on a Sib's Shoulder

Concerning the first letter:Perhaps the sister is genuinely concerned about her sister’s alcohol and drug use (and yes, I’m one of those old-fashioned types that still think pot is a drug). Perhaps she sees her sister’s success as being possibly in jeopardy because the girl is spreading herself out pretty thin, dating god-only-knows-who and boozing and smoking pot as well. A person with a problem can often times get hostile and develop the attitude of "you’re just jealous; why can’t you get off of my back?". I personally think this situation needs another look.

Today Is the Day, by Margo Howard

It’s sort of ironic for me that the Ringling Bros. circus is following the memorial service; because (and I kid you not!) everytime I hear about Micheal Jackson’s death, "Oh What A Circus" from the play Evita comes to mind. Just swap "Eva Peron" for "Micheal Jackson" and you have my thoughts on the matter precisely.

LOL my point exactly; just with a little less freaky-ness.  :D

The guy has morals. Let’s burn him at the stake…and the woman can’t imagine waiting until marriage? Am I the only one who sees that there’s something really sad about the way we perceive the situation? It’s true that the two are probably not compatible and that there’s no fault to that; but even so, it saddens me that this guy is being ripped because he doesn’t have loose morals the way she obviously does. And about the divorce situation: he could have become Mormon after the divorce; or his wife could have ran off with someone else. He shouldn’t be judged but praised. He laid it on the line honestly; if she can’t deal with it, then she should just move on and look for a sex buddy elsewhere.

Kerby Revelus Beheads 5-Year-Old Sister Bianca

What I don’t get is why the police didn’t shoot him dead the minute they saw him decapitate that baby. Why they waited for him to go in and start on the nine year old before they stopped him. Mentally ill or not, he shouldn’t have been allowed to harm the nine year old.
