Yes Barrett- some ‘complain’ privately, some do so in public.

The only thing that can be said in defense of Huff’s policies is that unpaid writers own the copyright to their work and may use it elsewhere.

Many other sites that operate in a similar manner have the audacity to NOT pay and own the writer’s work just the same.

James- thanks for your thoughtful post: No employee (or writer) in their right mind would want to see the business that employs them fail and that’s surely true of journalists and reporters.

But in order for capitalism to work, owners/managers need to be fair and reasonable. This 1099 business and not paying people has (as you rightfully stated) led to a bigger gap between haves and have nots. Yes- funding a new venture or a website is expensive, but there’s no justification for a publisher or owner buying their 4th house and/or 5th car on the backs of unsalaried (or grossly underpaid)  employees.

To the best of my knowledge, while wowowow has interns and volunteers, contributors are paid something for their work.

Not so on Huffington. Virtually no one gets paid and this ‘model’ is becomming the standard on the web.

It’s a sad state of affairs for professional journalists and writers and Arianna H. should know better.

There’s no excuse for an owner or publisher selling ads and not compensating for professional services rendered. 

Arianna Huffington is a hypocrite. While she claims to be the voice of democracy, and has received a sizeable infusion of cash to keep her website going, she only pays a handful of people.

The economic model for the Huffington Post amounts to cyber-feudalism, and it’s a model that is being repeated all over the place.

Shame on you Arianna.

What’s most disturbing about Peggy’s ‘channeled’ drivel, is that it is clearly propaganda masquerading as a psychic intuitve read.

Clearly, Cheney is about manipulating the general population for his own agenda.  He could care less about our safety. He and his lot are interested in two things: CA$H & the power to control… and holding on to both by keeping most Americans riddled with enough fear so that they do not question his moves or agenda.

How much did he benefit from this bogus war? It’s mind boggling. Peggy- you’re no longer credible.
