On the anniversary of 9/11, what do you carry in your heart about this day?

Sorry about the spelling errors, terrorist and terrorism !

On the anniversary of 9/11, what do you carry in your heart about this day?

I have similar memories of the tragedy of 9-11-2001. Early morning, getting ready for work, morning TV shows on , my husband was dressed for work, active duty military at the time. He yelled upstairs for me to turn on the TV in our bedroom. When I watched the first plane hit the tower, it seemed like an incredible accident, I couldn’t imagine how such an accident could take place ! My husband came upstairs to watch with me, when the second plane hit, he said that is terrist act ! Terrism never crossed my mind. Seconds after uttering those words, the phone rang, the base was calling and he was out the door. I went to work and my co workers both brought tvs, we watched tv all day and everyone that came in that day was in complete shock. After seven years it is still unimaginable that such a thing happened in the USA. Impossible to understand why and how many lives lost and how many families were changed forever. I even wonder if we REALLY know who was behind such a horrific act and why we have been unable to find him. The history of our country has been for caucasian men to force their will on others, for their benefit and greed. We have done many unjust things in the name of progress and especially in the name of freedom! We have to often wanted Others to want what We wanted them to Want ! It is hard to believe our arrogance. We used this attack as an excuse to invade a country that had nothing to do with that attack . Will we never learn to stay out of other people’s business and not force our wishes and view point on others while costing our country billions of dollars and lost lives; not in the name of freedom and democracy but in need to fulfill our insatiable greed !

Cher To Hillary: We Want You, Babe!

I now believe that although we all have the right to vote, enough procedures have been put in place to elect the candidate the individual party wants in office. I think voting is simply an excercise to make us feel like we have a choice. Too many people vote on the candidate they ” like” because of something they see or hear on TV or something a celebrity says or their friend told them, etc. Between the delegate votes, the caucases and the electoral college. Do ” we the people ” really decide who wins in a presidential election ?

What creates a sense of awe and mystery in your life and why?

The great outdoors, from the dessert to the forest and everything in between ! A new born baby, a baby animal, how they are formed so perfectly ! The instinct of a mother, the kindness and love people have for each other. These are a few things I am awed by. The mystery of how cruel people can be to each other, the pain and suffering caused by some and why we wage war on others and say it’s for freedom. Another mystery is how the squash bugs find my squash ! LOL Why these things are this way is what makes life interesting and frustrating it’s what makes us grateful for the good and simple things in our lives.

Panty Hose, Former Symbol of Women’s Lib, Dead at 43

I couldn’t wait to grow up and wear hose and high heels when I was young. I wore panty hose and high heels for years, looking cute was more important than comfort. I ruined my feet and got spider veins in the process. I have endured laser treatments for spider veins, while it improved them somewhat, it didn’t “erase” them ! After a treatment you must wear very heavy support hose for two days and nights, you haven’t lived until you try to sleep in hose so tight that they make your toes sore ! I work in a casual office where I can wear pants or long skirts. In the winter I wear knee high socks or tights. In summer I use faux tanning lotion and wear sandals. Panty hose are too uncomfortable and hot to wear. My co worker goes to a tanning salon so she won’t have to wear hose, I’m not willing to risk skin cancer to have tan legs.

What is the best advice your dad ever gave you?

I feel very sad for all the children that will miss their dad this Father’s Day and all the future Father’s Days because of the war in Iraq, nothing impacts a childs life like loosing a parent !

What is the best advice your dad ever gave you?

My dad was only in my life for 13 years, he died at 45. I don’t remember him giving me much advice. He helped me with home work, taught me to ride a bike, played games with me, showed me how to use a hula hoop and told me stories. He was kind, gentle, patient and a wonderful dad to me and my brother. I’ve missed him everyday !

What advice do you have for Michelle Obama?

Michelle, you are an intellgent woman stand up for what you believe in and don’t be caught off guard by the press. Be true to yourself and you will shine. Off the subject, but someone brought up the Iraq war….. Barack was not in the senate at the time of the vote to go to war with Iraq. It came up often that Hillary voted FOR the war, but so did most of the other senators. They were all misled by the Bush administration. Don’t blame Hillary for the war, she didn’t start it. While we are on the subject of the war, don’t be misled into thinking that Barack is going to bring ALL the troops home, he couldn’t if he wanted to. He may bring some of the troops home but we will probably occupy Iraq for years and years. Millions of dollars have been spent to build bases there. Iraq will probably be like Korea, do you know people are deployed there for at least a year at a time?

What advice do you have for Cindy McCain?

How sad it makes me to read such unkind comments from women. None of us know Mrs. McCain and I have only seen her on TV a few times standing next to her husband. I think she is trying to be dignified and support her husband. She has had back surgery and a stroke ! My advice to Mrs. McCain would be don’t seek advice from the women at WOW. Seek advice from people that will be generous, kind and have a clue what it must be like to be in the public eye.

At This Historic Moment ... A wOw Reader Quote That Says It All

When I first heard of this site for women on the web I knew it would be interesting. It didn’t say it was exclusively for women, when I first saw men contributing I thought, ” Hey, this site is for women !” I have enjoyed Frank’s postings and would hope that he will continue to give us his view point. Mugsy brought up some interesting questions about why women are not celebrated more for their contributions and abilities, expecially for a site about and for women. Why didn’t they hire more women ?

Monica Crowley to Scott McClellan: 'Not Cool' to Kiss 'n' Tell With Bush Still in Office

My feeling is that the truth should be told sooner not later. After 911 the American people were stunned by what happened. The plan to invade Iraq was well orchestrated from the stand point of convincing people that it was the appropriate thing to do. I heard Rumsfield say that the decision was made to go into Iraq because Afganistan didn’t have “good targets”. The person/persons that devised the plan were brilliant, except for the fact that it was not well thought out beyond the initial invasion. They were able to convince Colin Powell so that he would present the information to the American people, who would be more believable than he ?

What were you told a 'real lady' had to do?

Much of what has already been said, manners were very important and grammer. I was told never to do anything in public that I wouldn’t do in front of my parents.

Which 'Sex and the City' character would your friends say you are most like?

None of the characters ! I watched a few episodes but thought the characters were too whiney, needy, made bad decisions and were way to promiscuous ! They didn’t seem like real professional women. What jobs did they have to be able to live the life style they lived ? Guess it was a fantasy that I didnt get.I was single at the time, I didn’t live in NY City but it was nothing like my life. I think the sucess of the show was a surprise to the characters.

Would you feel safe with a woman as commander in chief? Why or why not?

Absolutely ! “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world” ,why not in America ?
